Initial Expectations: I’ve had mixed results out of this series, and since this is where it starts, I’m not expecting too much out of it.

Initial Reaction: It could have been okay, but the video style made me nauseous.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is pretty clear and well balanced. The video mixes full screen and non-anamorphic widescreen. It’s grainy, almost as if it were shot on film and given a decent treatment in some of the darker scenes and pixelized in some of the brighter scenes. It’s frequently a little jumpy, as though its speed has been altered by somebody who didn’t know exactly what they were doing. Some of Sean Michaels’ other movies have also had this feeling, and it’s part of why many of those features haven’t done anything for me. The lighting is fairly consistent throughout the individual scenes, but varies from scene to scene. Some are fairly dark and some are a little bright due to the use of natural light. It does help some of the scenes, but also hurts some others. The biggest problem is that the camera almost always seems to be in motion. I started feeling a little motion sickness watching some of the scenes. I had to walk away a few times but found that the best way to smooth it out was to watch much of it at about the 2X fast forward speed. This took away almost all of the problems with the video by making it not seem so jerky and taking away some of the slight swaying motions.

Music: The music has a kind of funky rock beat to it that makes it fit pretty well as porno music but also stands a bit apart from it. It’s nicely balanced with the rest of the audio.

Disc Problems: At about 22:40 the picture completely breaks up into large pixels and then both my CD-ROM and my standalone Marantz player locks up. The Marantz locks up to the point that the only way for me to get the disc out of it is to pull the plug. I checked the disc, which is a little scratched, but I’ve never seen the picture break up like it did here from the disc being scratched. For this reason, I’m mentioning this problem here rather than just attributing it to a scratched DVD. The feature is also split over two titles (the first of which ends about fifty eight minutes into the feature), and as usual, you can’t scan or skip backwards to the first title after you’ve began the second.

Menus: The menus are pretty standard. The main menu has a bit of nice animation to help it out, and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene from a small clip and a scene number.

The Feature: This is the start of Sean Michaels’ long running oral sex series. Sean has had a long running reputation as one of the true gentlemen in the adult industry, and has been in enough features to know what should and shouldn’t work. His oral series stands quite a bit apart from most other oral features for several reasons. He doesn’t limit it to just oral sex for the guys. The women are allowed to receive a little pleasure also, including an occasional fucking. Many of the scenes also have a short setup sequence, while others just get right to sucking.

Lisa Bella, a decent looking bleached blonde, starts things off sloppily sucking the cock of Sean Michaels in what looks to be a dark basement. She works Sean as much if not more with her hand than with her mouth, and looks around throughout most of the scene, although rarely at Sean. She finally takes a facial to finish things off, and lets Sean’s joy juice fall down to her nicely natural tits. It’s an okay opening scene, but nothing extremely special.

Pebbles, an average looking black woman, takes an appointment with Nick East since Sean’s out of town at the time. I’m not sure if Pebbles swallowed it down or if it was just faked. Regardless, it made for a disappointing ending to an average scene.

Deanna Star, a cute big tittied bleached blonde, takes on Sean next. The disc froze during this scene, so I missed about two minutes of action. When I got back in, Sean was tonguing Deanna’s twat. Kasorn Swan auditions for a role in Sean Michaels’ western movie with Santino Lee. She starts out sloppily sucking Santino’s cock before they’re joined by white guy Norman Bates. It’s a pretty good scene, but I’ve never seen anything from Kasorn to impress me too much.

Platinum blonde Anastasia Blue takes on Sean Michaels in a girl show booth next. It’s almost identical to Anastasia’s scene with Sean that appears in We Go Deep 3. It’s bad enough when people split apart scenes over different features, but to reuse them this blatantly really ticks me off. Yes, this was the original scene, but I saw the other one first which makes this one seem like a repeat. Of course, if I saw this one first I’d be even more ticked off since the version in We Go Deep 3 appears to be just a hacked up version of this one.

Sirena gives Julian St. Jox a little oral loving in a pool next. It’s a very short scene that lasts under five minutes that’ll probably be forgotten by about the time you finish watching the next scene. The only memorable things about it is Julian’s excellent load that he plasters Sirena’s face with.

Venus Milan, a sultry dirty blonde, and Deja Milan, who might have been the original motivation to invent the light switch, team up to interview star athletes Nick East and Sean Michels in a locker room. The girls start out on each other while waiting for the guys to show up, and when they do show up, decide they’d rather get busy with them instead. Venus gives Nick a fairly sloppy blowjob while Deja’s salivary glands go into overdrive as she works on Sean’s schlong. Alex, a decent looking short haired blonde barwench, gives Sean a little head to go with his bottle of beer. It’s a soft and slow blowjob that has a great tenderness to it that really sets itself apart from the other scenes, especially the one that preceded it. Alex shies away from the pop a little bit, but does go back for a little extra taste. It’s a little odd at times since it isn’t always consistent in how it follows through. At one time Alex is showing a little tit, and in the next it looks like her dress has never been touched.

Chaz Vincent, a very realistic looking brunette, shows Normal Bates a little about the birds and bees in a classroom in the penultimate scene. He starts out tonguing her twat as she sits on the desk in front of him with her skirt and shirt pulled out and her bra adjusted to make her tits easily visible. Finally, Chloe takes on Sean Michaels after sending hubby Norman Bates off to work. We Go Deep unfortunately wasn’t buried quite deep enough. There’s a certain irony that hits me about this being a movie about sucking, which is really sad since it is a really good start. Sean has some good ideas here and mixes things up enough to keep things interesting. There’s some really great sex here, most notably the two last two group scenes and final two scenes involving Chaz Vincent and Chloe. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fire on all the cylinders. The variety Sean provides here gives the feature a kind of unfocused feeling. That’s nothing, however, compared to the video style. The jumpiness of the feature made it extremely difficult for me to watch, and my eyes constantly urged me to either look away or start fast forwarding through. Neither is a feeling that I think anybody who makes an adult movie wants the viewer to feel. It took most of my enjoyment of the feature away and took this from being an above average feature and turned it into a below average one. I’m sure that people who don’t mind the effects will enjoy it much more than I did.

Extras: Bios are included for Sean Michaels, Lola, Chloe, and Terri Star. None of them add too much, but they at least let you know what the stars look like. Trailers are included for Ebony Erotica and the first three installments of Sean Michaels Rocks That Ass. The photo gallery contains about twenty nice looking snapshots and full screen photos. There’s also internet and phone sex information.

Overall: Currently, the We Go Deep series can be found online for between $10 and $20 with quite a few stores offering it for under or around $15. Although it’s fairly cheap, rent this one first due to the video style. The sex seems pretty good, but I had trouble watching due to the video. The extras are pretty average and easily skipped.

Note to Pleasure / Sean Michaels Productions: Please kill the visual effects. It looked like you did a good job here, but I was too busy looking away or fighting nausea to tell too clearly.
