Originally released on VHS back in 1997, this eighth edition of John Leslie's Voyeur series is a movie I first saw on another of those bootleg tapes that I had to depend on for my smut intake in the days before a marginally more enlightened mood descended upon these sceptred isles (that's Great Britain). Apologies to Evil Angel - I certainly would not encourage piracy, but needs must. Anyway, the point of all this is that, crazily enough, despite the fact that Leslie's Voyeur was peeping on girls of the calibre of Anitas Blond and Dark, I really was not struck on the picture at all. Therefore, it's interesting for me to see how this mixture of five European and one US shot scenes comes across now that I have a much better handle on what Leslie's movies are all about.

Caroline
The Voyeur follows this slim, sexy brunette from the railway station to a subway (perhaps the one where Nikki Anderson collected the guys for Julia Taylor's scene in Euro Hardball 1 - the concept is similar too) where she agrees to pick up three "strangers", one of whom is Frank Gun but I am not familiar with the others (Rick and Zoran), and take these dodgy geezers back to her house, another familiar Budapest location. The lads wait in one room while she takes the Voyeur to the bathroom, where she gives him a personal show of her tight body and small tits. The natural light, not for the last time in the movie, is inadequate and makes viewing tricky. This is a "down on the farm" scene, with a heavy emphasis on, though not entirely composed of, peeping tom style shots. Overall
My reaction, comparing now and then, to this movie is quite a contrast. Then I didn't really like it, now I really do - like, not love, though - because Mr John Leslie surely knows what's what when it comes to capturing beautiful women, repeatedly achieving remarkable perspectives on the female anatomy, which is surely the point of the exercise. His affected shaky camera style representing The Voyeur's "peeping tom" view is used sparingly but to good effect, and though sometimes the preference for mainly natural light is not always conducive to easy viewing of the old in-out, the overall look is great and the mood created is very appealing.

Simple but effective set-ups play their part, and it hardly needs stating that there's some exceptional talent on display here too. Not all of the girls appealed to me, though, and not all of the sex is a success, but suffice to say that I enjoyed this movie a whole lot more this time around - maybe being a little older helps, as most scenes favour slower, teasing build ups over slam-bang action and instant gratification. Which, I'd suggest, is a good thing with more lasting value. It's a fine production, no-frills perhaps but possessed of a certain quality, that has aged better than some of the male fashions and hairstyles on display might suggest!

DVD Comments
Picture quality is surprisingly good, considering the age of the movie, but then it's an Evil Angel DVD, so perhaps it's to be expected. The features are as follows: chapter and fetish menus (jump to favoured sex acts), a photo gallery, trailers (Fresh Meat 5 & 13, Voyeur 7), cast list and filmographies, a text biography of John Leslie, and a very interesting promo for John's impressive blues band, the wittily named John Leslie Blues Band. The menus are slickly presented with tasteful graphics, so no faults here.
