The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear, nicely balanced, and free of background noises. The video is nicely done and well lit. There’s a little pixelation during the tease and story, but that’s it for video problems.

Music: There’s a little music during the tease and stories, but that’s it.

Disc Complaints: You’re subjected to a commercial for Digital Playground that you can’t skip past. This always ticks me off, and is something I hoped Digital Playground had left in the dust. It really ticks me off here because I accidentally pushed the stop button while playing the movie, and I had to sit through the damn thing twice. I’m deducting a half point from the overall score because of it.

Menus: The menus have kept with the usual format for this series. The main menu features Jill standing and waiting while you make your choice on the menu below to start with. The sex selection menu then works itself around the edges of the screen with icons that are freaking huge!

The Feature

Since before she was a Vivid girl, Briana has been turning eyes. For those who somehow missed her, Briana is a very cute blonde with a beautiful ass, a few tasteful tattoos, a pierced tongue and navel, and a huge set of augmented knockers. Here, you get to “have sex with” Briana in the usual Digital Playground location of a jet black void, and can choose between two true multiple angles. For the foreplay you get a close-up while the sex segments let you normally have a side view.

Briana starts things off with a strip tease. She talks about her body as she strips out of her black top, pink bra, and pink panties. It’s a nicely done sequence that lasts nearly four minutes.

Briana also tells a few sex stories, which are dubbed in as she dances around a screen full of flames. She talks about her first sexual experience and her personality. She also talks about sex, such as how she likes a guy to get off with her, her favorite position, mixing things up during sex, and what gets her off best. It lasts a couple minutes and gives a nice look at Briana sexually.

For the virtual sex, you can work Briana over with your fingers, a vibe, or your tongue. The tongue portion works a bit better than normal here because Briana talks about how she wants you to lick her while playing with herself rather than just moving around like you’re supposed to be eating her. You can also have her suck your cock or fuck her in missionary, doggie, and standard and reverse cowgirl. You can even fuck her ass missionary style. For her part, Briana does a very nice job. She does a great job of playing to the camera, and her eyes and vocal definitely add to the experience. She sometimes struggles between the innocent and nasty moods, with the blowjob easily being the most difficult to tell which mood you’re in with Briana. She does her best job during the foreplay segments, but the sex segments are often very similar. Briana turns out some hot sex, but for the virtual experience it lacks a little.

Pop shots have always created a lot of talk with virtual releases. People always wanted real pops rather than animated or faked wet pops. Here, there’s a real facial for the blowjob, and most of the rest of the pops are faked wet pops. Although they’re faked, I do have to say that they look pretty good. I had to check a couple of them a few times just to make sure they were fake. The worst, pop, however, are the faked creampies in cowgirl and reverse cowgirl where Briana bounces off the dick and there’s absolutely no sign of any cum. There’s a lot of fake pops here, but they’re normally handled nicely.

Digital Playground has been extremely consistent with their virtual mechanism. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. For the good part, it’s very easy to use and nice to know what you’re going to get. For the bad part, the icons are still freaking huge and not always the easiest to make out if it’s your first time watching a Virtual Sex with release. Also, the orgasm mechanism doesn’t go back to the original selection. Once you decide that one of you should have an orgasm, you’re going to keep watching it until you tell it to do something else. This is the only time I think a virtual release should do something without being told.

There’s also the looping, which was a very common problem with early virtual sex releases. The main sex act loops normally lasts around two minutes, while the orgasm sequences last between about fifteen seconds and a nearly minute. Each segment always returns to the start of the segment, so Briana might go from being way into the sex act to just getting warmed up. Normally it’s worked so that it gets pretty close so and isn’t overly noticeable, but there are still times when it does stand out. Digital Playground’s virtual mechanism is pretty well done, but a little tweaking would be a good thing.

Virtual Sex with Briana Banks leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, Briana does a very nice job. She looks like she has a lot of fun and the addition of the anal is great. On the other hand, I was really disappointed. I watched this release the same night I watched Virtual Sex with Jill Kelly, finishing one and then starting the next. Since Virtual Sex with Jill Kelly was released nearly four years before Virtual Sex With Briana Banks (October of 2000 compared to August of 2004), I expected to see some very nice improvements. The only improvement I saw between the two titles, however, was the addition of the anal sex. Technologically, there isn’t a single improvement I saw between the two releases, and if not for the girl and the anal I don’t think there’s a single difference between the releases. When virtual sex releases first emerged, there was a nice rivalry going between Digital Sin / New Sensations and Digital Playground, and it kept them both working to improve their product. With this release, Digital Playground appears that it’s surrendered. Virtual Sex with Briana Banks is enjoyable, but shows Digital Playground is at the same level it was four years before when it comes to virtual sex.

None. I guess some people consider the stories and tease extras, but with how the DVD is presented I consider it part of the feature.

Currently, most of the Virtual Sex With... series can be found online for between $20 and $35 with many stores offering it for under $25. If you’re a fan of Briana this one will probably be worth it, but others will want to rent it first. Briana does a hot job, but there’s basically nothing for extras.

Note to Digital Playground: You used to have a great record for virtual sex. A little effort would be great out of you again! The technology for the black void appears like it’s dead, so how about some backgrounds and life?
