Initial Expectations: I’ve had very mixed results from Mario Salieri, with more stuff on the icky side, so I’m not expecting a whole lot here.

Initial Reaction: The plot is pretty well done, but the sex lacks quite a bit.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody looking for a dark adult film

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is very clear, but since it’s dubbed it should be. The video is also quite clear, and a nice surprise with the age of the feature.

Music: Some of the music sounded more like it belonged in a soap opera than in a porno. There’s also a few eighties rock songs. It ranges from overpowering the rest of the audio to being nicely balanced with the rest of the audio.

Menus: The menus are very simple. The chapter menu lets you make your selection based on a clip from the movie and a number.

False Advertising: Deborah Wells is listed on the cover, but she doesn’t appear in the movie.

The Feature: Andrew Spinell plays a judge in a difficult situation. The woman he’s been cheating with for four years has turned up missing, and even worse, she had wrote a letter about him threatening to kill her. He doesn’t know that Christophe Clark is behind the framing, or that Christophe’s setting up a date between Andrew’s daughter, himself, and a rather large knife.

Christophe Clarke starts out the first full scene seducing Andrea Valente. She starts off giving Christophe a little head, and then lets him fuck both her pussy and ass. She finishes Christophe off by jerking his cock while dry fucking his leg, and then sucking on his cock a little more while playing with her pussy. Christophe finally lets go with a decent gush of guy goo on her chest. It’s a pretty average scene without a lot of chemistry.

Caroline and Ildiko Varcon join forces to work on Philippe Soine. Caroline sucks his cock a little, and then takes Philippe in her ass while Ildiko helps a little and lets Caroline suck on her nipples. The girls change places so Ildiko can get her ass stretched, and then team up to work Philippe to a pop. It’s another average at best scene but does have a little chemistry.

Finally, while Betty Gabor and Giulia Sow get busy with Christophe Clark, Joe Calzone gets some loving from Ildiko Varcon. Ildiko looks extremely good, and gives some nice head to Joe. Once again, they skip directly to the ass fucking, which seems to give Ildiko more pain than pleasure. This doesn’t give the scene much heat, and makes it really easy to skip on to the other group. Betty and Giulia do a good job of sharing Christophe. They team up for a nice double blowjob, and then Betty gets in the middle to eat Giulia’s pussy as she’s being fucked from behind. Not surprisingly, both girls take it in the ass, but surprisingly, everybody seems to be really into the scene, which makes it the best in the feature. The girls finish it off by sharing a very good pop from Christophe. Afterwards, it cuts back to Ildiko and Joe, with a little more pussy fucking and blowjob, but no pop.

Although I really detest some of the violence in Violences, it actually isn’t very violent at all. It’s much more psychological, which can sometimes be even worse. The storyline is well done, and builds up the tension throughout the movie very well. In a way, it kind of reminds me of an adult version of Cape Fear. Christophe really shines as the bad guy here, and shows some great acting skills. My biggest complaint about the entire thing is the structure of the movie. Throughout almost the entire movie, there’s no explanation of why Christophe Clarke is planning on killing the women in Andrew Spinell’s life. At under an hour and ten minutes, it would be very easy to add a short segment to show Christophe’s motivations. It is explained some at the end, but it almost seems like an afterthought by then. Furthermore, there are only two decent length sex scenes in the entire movie. There’s some good ideas and a really good start here, but it feels like it’s either incomplete or highly edited. Violences comes across as an adult film rather than a porno, but still leaves something to be desired.

Extras: The photo gallery contains about twelve fairly nice snapshots. There’s also a trailer, with only French audio, and internet information.

Raincoat Factor: Medium low

Overall: Currently, Violences can be found online for between $19 and $23 with almost all the stores offering it for $20. For what you get, this seems very high. The transfer is very good, but there are no extras. The plot and acting are well done, but still seem like something’s missing, especially with the short feature length. It’s also very short on sex, only having about two full sex scenes in the movie.

Note to Plum: If you’re going to release DVDs this bare bones, please see if you can do something to reduce the cost. Compared to other DVDs, this seems vastly overpriced.
