Part One : Welcome To The Family w/ Abigail Mac , Melissa Moore , Carter Cruise , Georgia Jones & Jelena Jensen

The film opens with Shyla Jennings (Ella) breathing hard and on the run. We see that she’s blind as she uses her cane , searching in the dark. There is a flash of Jelena giving chase. Narration kicks in shortly after and Shyla takes us back to the beginning of how she ended up like this.

She arrived from Boston with sister Abigail Mac (Lucy )recently. They imagined California would be a paradise of beaches. Shyla asks Abigail to describe the scenery as they drive. Abigail talks of the palm trees which Shyla wants to stop and appreciate. Abigail protests at first but when her sister says she has to pee they go ahead and pull over. Shyla pees at the side of the road and asks to be directed by the palm trees. On her way over to hug one the camera catches missing posters. Shyla of course can’t see them and she voices her optimism.

The girls arrive at their old family ranch home, left by their recently deceased father. Abigail says that it still looks just the same. Shyla is looking forward to staying here for the summer. Before Melissa can explain further the girls are interrupted by Georgia Jones (Amber ) Cater Cruise ( Dawn). Melissa is still trying to get Abigail out of the house, but reluctantly introduces her sisters. Carter and Georgia want to make friends and brings up the rules about introducing guests to the whole family.

Melissa pulls Abi aside to talk. Abigail thinks that the sisters hook up with girls together - she says she’s into it if that’s the case. Melissa says that these aren’t really her sisters and their ‘mother’ isn’t her mother either. Abigail thinks this means that she was adopted - but Melissa can only talk in euphemisms about life and blood. The thing is Melissa also had a blond sister whom she failed to protect. She renews the attempt to leave but is blocked at the door by her sisters.

When this pitch falls Melissa says that (Lucy) is strong and that she could join them. Jelena says there is no room for another in the family. Abi reassures her friend that they can all get along.

Jelena is pissed at Melissa’s insolence and she tells Georgia and Carter to enjoy Abigail but to keep her alive until she returns. Jelena rushes Melissa down to a lower lair. Jelena lectures Melissa who argues again for making Abigail a vampire. Jelena says that the vampire wars are finished and so they don’t need more bodies and vampires. But she ultimately agrees to grant Melissa’s request in exchange for the rest of her time above ground in the current cycle. Melissa is grateful and agrees but she will also have to let her mistress feed on her before the turning ceremony.

Back upstairs in the living room Georgia and Carter sit on either side of Abigail , kissing her. Abi says she is all for this sister on sister action.

This cliffhanger ends part one.

This is so damn wild - you can really feel the feature film vibe in a way that is even rare for Girlsway. It’s plot heavy in a way that other porn just isn’t. I would say that the cunnilingus portions could be longer in general. But I maybe half of the 62 minute runtime is spent on plot and story. It will be interesting to see if this balance continues.

I think stylistically there were so many smart choices made in regards to how ( feeding ) actually looks and works. The effects are simple but still cool and easy to grasp. The coven mechanics felt pretty well thought out too. With so much vampire lore to look at I think the kind of hibernation in cycles model is also a good way to create stakes for motivation.

Given the nature of this first scene and how the actual sex started as two separate encounters it did feel a bit fast at times. And foursomes are always a little harder to capture and review down to the minute details. I will say that I liked the hard bouncy tribbing the most and then maybe the earlier eating that Carter and Georgia gave to Abigail on the couch.

The main draw for me though has to be the character dynamics. Melissa Moore did such a good job as the sympathetic vampire and that’s the character I was most attached to in this first part. Maybe because the tortured soul archetype of a vampire is more compelling to me than the pure evil one. I can’t wait to see what part two brings to the table!

Part two opens with Abigail tossing and turning in bed. There are snippets of the night before in her fitful dreams. Shyla hears her sister’s cry and wants to be let in the bathroom to help. Abigail wants desperately to keep her away. Abi rambles about drinking too much and having to sweat it out. Abigail drinks an energy shot but it comes right out and she falls over, passing out.

Abi comes to in Shyla’s arms, having been brought to the bed. Abigail says she’s just dehydrated. Her eyes go red as the beast in her wakes. Abigail takes Shyla’s sunglasses off and she straddles her starting to sweet talk her. Abigail reveals that Shyla isn’t her full sister. She’s her step-sister. Apparently this is new information to Shyla. Abigail makes a reference to them having fooled around before but Shyla isn’t accustomed to Abi being so aggressive with her. Abigail tells her sister to grow up and Shyla consents, saying if she wants it so badly just open up her legs.

The girls kiss before Abi sits back and pulls off her top. She assists Shyla with her shirt and pushes her down on her back and stripping off her pants. This was much shorter than the first part - but it needed less setup. I am a softie who feels weird about aggressive scenes that don’t exactly depict consent ; so I wasn’t really crazy about how this started off with Shyla’s refusal and later acceptance, because it seemed regretful.

I don’t want to give the impression that I found the scene overtly rape-y or entirely objectionable... I’ve said before that sci-fi and fantasy stories often do deserve a little more latitude for the sake of creative merits and while I do believe this a verbal no in any capacity proceeding a scene will kill my mental and physical boner quick. Maybe I’m just a sensitive person but just how my brain works. Maybe just a flash of the magical magnetism power would have changed things for me, as for whatever reason I have less issues when mental state is changed via some fantastical means.

That said the action itself was good once things really got going - as one would surely expect from two of the best in the business driving it. The hard tribbing early was a real highlight and I loved seeing Shyla’s pretty toes curl when she was being pleased. There is a reason that Abigail Mac is frequently cast as a feral beastie in these fantasy films ( The Wolf & now a Vampire) not only does she sell the acting bits , but her energy can be called animalistic at times - when she feasts on pussy like she did here.

The save and switch that happened in the middle of the scene also changes the pacing and feel and it goes into a more sweet and loving second half. Shyla’s cunnilingus here was fantastic and it was probably my favorite thing that happened overall. It’s also a welcome recovery for the soft heart in me - because it so totally reverses the consent dynamic. As a short scene it still delivered on some very good moments.

Taboo fanatics will also be interested in this one. The approach of having Shyla not know she and Abigail were only stepsisters ( and hinting at prior fooling around — when she didn’t know) will undoubtably light that dirty fire for some fans who are always after the closest thing they can get.

Story wise I remain throughly compelled by what I’m getting here. I do love that at its core this still seems to be a kind of love story and the camera work thus far is absolutely great!

Part Three : Calling The Cavalry w/ Abigail Mac, Shyla Jennings & Serena Blair

The third scene back in the present with Shyla running in the dark as she begins to narrate. Again we flash back in time to Shyla coming in to wake up Abigail. She says that someone is on the phone saying the vampires that attacked her last night are on the way to their house that minute and they need to flee.

The mystery woman won’t say who she is , but promises that she knows everything. Shyla wants to know why no one has called the police and is informed that the vampires own the cops in town. Shyla and Abigail agree to run and are picked up by their unknown ally.

Serena Blair ( Vanessa )is the mysterious helper. She takes the sisters back to her private safe house which turns out to be a church. After some taking Serena asks to inspect the girls to make sure they are clean. Serena says she’s been watching the vampire lair for a long time and Abigail is the first person who ever walked out alive. She tosses garlic at Abi and it burns her. Serena is ready with a gun pointed at her prey, promising that the gun is loaded with silver tipped bullets. Shyla hugs Abigail close to guard her and pleads her her life.

Serena says that to prove her loyalty to the humans she can submit to an examination. I think this is a little nod to Serena’s character from A.I. , giving us another excuse to see her in a white coat.

After a little examination Serena explains the only way to save Abigail is to kill the mother of the coven. When she dies all those she’s turned will become mortal again. She also knows that in addition to the pop culture facts about how to hurt vamps, they are also susceptible to crystals for some reason. She demonstrates by briefly dangling one in front of Abigail who recoils.

That’s not all Serena knows about vampire lore. She explains that for the big mission tomorrow they will all need some supercharged energy which they can get from Abigail herself. Abigail isn’t sure she has enough power to give but Serena reasons that she can siphon some regular energy from her and Shyla tonight, as long as she’s careful and only takes some from each of them everyone will be fine. Abigail looks to Shyla who nods in agreement.

The girls start kissing with a naked Abigail still between them on the exam table. Abigail peels off Shyla’s top and it occurs to Serena that the girls are sisters, they say stepsisters and keep making out. Something that might go unsung in analysis of this scene was that it did feel as if there was an effort from Abigail and Serena to help guide Shyla around. In a frantic atmosphere like this I can imagine that it was hard to keep the fact of Shyla’s in character blindness at the forefront of every individual action but there were no glaring moments where it got totally forgotten.

I also have to give credit for the how the sex wasn’t just a means to the feeding. In writing with special end goals in plot this can happen. * I have written lesbian vampire things and so I know that for a fact — but rather in this example it felt like a good threesome that just happened to have an extra plot device added in for fun.

The scene was a nice length of about 48 minutes with lead in. So the sex was just around 35 minutes but felt longer because of good pacing.

I mentioned this earlier, but it bares repeating. The camera work here was consistently good and it helped make this my favorite scene of the film thus far.

I love the idea of Serena’s vampire hunter character Vanessa. I’ve mentioned it elsewhere but she seems like a character that can be built on in an offshoot follow up or prequel. Whenever I see a character like this I want to know how they came to be — and as a story nerd I think that is really important to get out of imaginative original plots. It may never happen of course, but leading youraudience to wonder is an essential part of success in any medium but especially so in genre based storytelling.

Part Four : The Showdown w/ Abigail Mac, Jelena Jensen & Angela White

The fourth scene starts with more of Shyla’s desperate dash to safety , she heads into a seemingly empty stable.

We flash back to earlier events and see Jelena in her basement chamber waking her first subordinate vampire (Angelica) Angela White. Angela asks why she has been woken early and Jelena explains that she needs her to hunt down a new vampire. This makes Angela smile

Naturally this means that she’ll need plenty of energy so the two begin to make out. They are already naked and Jelena rubs at her own sex. Angels says she is hungry and Jelena she helps Jelena with a little of extra handiwork. On their knees the two kiss harder until Jelena can give her a few hits of her energy. The door is locked when the girls approach but Serena was prepared and says she can walk Abigail through the technique. While she’s still down on her knees trying to pick the lock Angela abruptly opens the door. Abigail tries to play it off like she’s looking for Melissa. Angela insists that they come inside but the sisters try to refuse. Suddenly Angela is hit in the neck with a tranq dart shot by Serena. She crumples over.

Abigail hugs Shyla and says she’s going in alone. She closes the door and takes off her hat and coat. As Abi comes around the corner whispering trying to find Melissa. But after only a moment Angela is back on her feet. She pushes Abigail against the wall in the hallway. Abigail doesn’t understand why the sun didn’t hurt Angela — she says she’s a stronger older vampire and she tosses Abigail around. Cut to outside and we see Serena setting up a drone to get a better look at the house.

The choice to shoot the entirety of the sex in the close space of a hallway felt inspired by an action ass kicking you’d see Netflix’s Daredevil or a Jason Statham movie. Despite being the critic who always argues for beds over everything I do think that in this special circumstance it makes sense and is actually quite clever. It makes the tribbing look better and the double team domination feel more complete in a way. Not to mention that it probably helped a lot in a cost cutting way and keeping the area of focus trained on one spot for most of it probably meant more time could be spent on the rare outside parts that I know can be a bitch to shoot compared to your normal porn scenes.

Angela White was very well cast as the first ‘born’ of Jelena’s coven I think. I dunno , but accents feel right on vampires and Angela is another star that has the kind of sexual energy that translates well to a villain, maybe because they are so often worldly in their lore. I would love to see some kind of prequel scene with her as a vampire - even if it’s a one off and doesn’t lead anywhere else.

While I might have liked more cunnilingus I thought that the tribbing was the best of the movie thus far and it really fit the vibe of this scene.

I’m all in for the finale , but wouldn’t you know it , I kinda don’t want this to be over. It’s like the last chapter of a book that’s staring me in the face right now.

This was a good finale with a well thought out sequence and climactic finish. I was glad to see Shyla, who I still regard as the queen of all trib tops , get to finish of her fiendish foe by grinding her to exhaustion and turning the tables.

I will say that selfishly I wanted this scene’s sex to go on longer it was just about 30 minutes or so. After the hour plus first part I may have set my expectations too high though a 5 hour feature would be too much to hope for within reason I suppose.

It would be great to see this spun off in some way. I believe that Jelena did write a one off scenario where she reprised her role - but that might have just been a scene with light bondage as I haven’t gotten to review it as of yet.

There could also be a rematch of Abigail and Shyla now that they are free and safe again. Or as was alluded to a reunion of Melissa and Abi.

I know that Alan has expressed at least some interest in doing an homage to Lost Boys. I feel like it could be the perfect vehicle to use to see more of Serena’s characters Vanessa. She seemed like a combination of the Frogg Brothers in this if not a modern Van(essa) Helsing

I also really did enjoy Jelena’s cunnilingus on Shyla in this scene. I feel like Shyla’s blindness factored into the plot but not as much into the sex — of course in only one or her three scenes was she fully into it ( by design ) but with a blind character I want to see a LOT of caressing and gentle feeling exploration. I would love to see Shyla run her hands all over her partner’s face to know every inch of it. That could just be my reading of what sex for the blind would be like though.

All told though it was a fine way to finish one of the most ambitious adult films I’ve ever seen.

Final Thoughts and Suggestions :

This was such a cool movie and I could feel how much it meant to everyone involved. Girlsway has all ready rocked porn with their high production value, story driven features like Little Red , Faces of Alice, MISSING , and Project Pandora; but this time being Stills by Alan’s first time really taking the helm as writer and director meant that it was going to be something different from an operational standpoint.

Using established stars was obviously a must - maybe even more than usual for a GW blockbuster because while Bree Mills proudly produced this I didn’t get the feeling that sh was standing over Alan’s shoulder here.

It was all stars up and down the cast list. With Jelena and Georgia’s roles in Cinderella it felt like they have already been able to play more with similar personas since this wrapped, and Abigail got the opportunity to hone her beastly skills as The Wolf in Little Red to prepare for this. Serena remains the go to girl for brainy brilliant girl roles as we saw in A.I. . I’ve said before that Shyla Jennings makes for a great sympathetic lead. Particularly after her Poor Little Shyla character ( for GFF ) it could be her effortlessly cute demeanor and seeming agelessness that makes her the believable teen forever or just a consequence of being a consistently great performer — but if I had just one award to bestow for acting in this picture I think it would go to Melissa Moore as Willow. I just think she nailed her part so perfectly but maybe it’s because , if only in the space of her one appearance , she had a character arc that changed. It’s hard to do in any writing exercise and harder still to get translated on screen in a way that works out. But she did it here well and she delivered every bit of her character work with an assured confidence.

I know that Wastelands is around the corner now ( fully wrapped ) and after this I am only all the more excited to set what it turned out like. Admittedly it feels as though this review is a year late - and while I wish that I could keep the pace to the my favorite studios work I do think it’s still important to put this out there. My hope is that I can at least keep up with features.

Also, if the writing I’ve done here feels more technical and less focused on the sex, it’s only because I felt the compulsion to treat this one with a more critical eye for the details of plot and story because that’s where it’s greatest ambitions seemed to be. A smashing success of a film by any standard. I think it’s one that every honest porn fan should see , even if you aren’t obsessed with lesbians like I am.
