Running Time: 60 min.

Production Date: Feb. 1999

Cast: Marty Klein, Ph.D., Beverly Whipple Ph.D., Bernie Zilbergeld, Ph.D., Linda Banner Ph.D., and many other real looking people.

Initial Expectations: Although the early Sincalir Intimacy Institute DVDs I watched left much to be desired (pun intended), the recent 10 Secrets to Great Sex was quite impressive, which gives me fairly high hopes for this DVD as well.

Initial Reaction: It’s a lot more clinical than 10 Secrets to Great Sex was, but there’s a lot of information that’s handled quite well.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody looking to improve their and their partner’s sex life.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody not interested in better sex or who has found their partner’s G-spot and can already have multiple orgasms.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is very clear with almost all of the information coming across very clearly. The video is pretty good but has a flashing line at the top of the screen through a lot of the feature like it wasn’t tracked quite right when it was transferred.

Music: The music is soft and sexy. It’s very non-threatening and helps to enhance the feature.

Disc Problems / Complaints: There’s no time code! Although I normally think of this as a must, it seems even more important here since many people will probably want to check things again later. Yes, you can jump to chapters in the main menu, but it isn’t always as handy.

Menus: The menus are extremely basic.

The Feature: Just the title of this feature made me think that it should be almost mandatory viewing for every man who wants to please his woman as much as possible. The G-spot is one of those things that most guys put in the same category as the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and alien abductions. Actually, most guys probably put it a little lower than these things. It’s something almost all guys have heard of, but it’s been as elusive as the famous thirty point whitetail buck.

Once again, Dr. Marty Klein and Dr. Linda Banner host Unlocking the Secrets of the G- Spot . If you’ve watched any of the other Sinclair Institute DVDs you’ve probably seen one if not both of them before. As with the other features, there are also many interviews with people on the street. Unlocking the Secrets of the G-Spot starts with a little information about orgasms and how everybody’s orgasm is different both in interviews and clinical discussions. They even use some of the charts and cartoons you might remember from high school health class. The main point covered is that the orgasm shouldn’t be a chore. Everybody wants to have simultaneous orgasms, which would also be great, but one shouldn’t concentrate on them so much that sex becomes more about engineering than lovemaking.

For multiple orgasms, the woman needs to relax and figure out what she needs, both physically and emotionally. Masturbation is very important for women who want to try and achieve multiple orgasms so they know just what touches work best for them. After they can bring themselves to multiple orgasms they can show their partner what works best.

The G-spot and it’s location is discussed next. It’s a debated thing that the experts don’t completely agree on. It’s not something that can be found like a person’s elbow. To find the G-spot, one should sit up rather than lie back. If your trying to find it for your first time, you should pee first, as the first reaction is often a need to pee and you know if you’ve found it rather than having to go to the bathroom. Although it can be done by yourself, it’s a lot harder to find the G-spot yourself rather than with your partner. Normally, two lubricated fingers should be inserted palm up so the fingers can rub on the front wall of the vagina about a third of the way in. You might not feel incredible pleasure the first time, but it will occur with time.

Multiple orgasms for men are covered next. It’s something that most men have only dreamed about but few have been able to achieve. This doesn’t mean you ejaculate more than once, but you experience the orgasm multiple times until you decide to ejaculate. To build yourself up, stimulate yourself for a half hour and try to bring yourself almost to the point of ejaculating six times. When you get close, let off and start again soon after. Some discussion of the prostate, which could be considered similar to the G-spot, is also included, such as being able to receive the pleasure of orgasm without even having an erection. In addition to giving tips on how to be multi-orgasmic, there are tips for satisfying a multi-orgasmic partner. Nothing is shown with intercourse for satisfying a multi- orgasmic partner, instead only showing playing with your partner.

Different positions for stimulating the G- spot during intercourse are covered. The best positions are cowgirl, doggie, and a modified missionary with the guy kneeling rather than laying down and a pillow under the girl’s butt. A side scissors position is also demonstrated with the guy on his side and the woman on her back perpendicular to each other.

Finally, female ejaculation, or squirting, is covered. It’s another debated topic but one that’s completely normal for many women and studies show that it may be possible for 1 out of every 3 women. It’s different from urination, being both clear and odorless. Kegel exercises help build the muscles needed for female ejaculation, and many women who squirt keep a towel next to the bed in case they squirt.

Although drier than 10 Secrets to Great Sex , Unlocking the Secrets of the G- Spot has a ton of information. It’s mostly presented well, but might not be quite what some people expect. The multiple orgasm section deals all with manual stimulation rather than intercourse, which disappointed me a little. The sex is handled very well throughout the feature, with the couples looking lovingly at each other through much of the scene and obviously enjoying themselves. The couples shown are very realistic and aren’t what most everybody expects to see in any type of adult feature. It’s a great combination and the feature should help many couples.

Extras: A 34 minute bonus feature on The Secrets of Self-pleasuring and Mutual Masturbation by Dr. Judy Seifer, PhD and Dr. Michael Kollar. It has a few small audio problems and the video quality is comparable to VHS. If you’re just starting out, just try to arouse yourself rather than bringing yourself to orgasm. Female masturbation is first covered. A mirror is suggested for women at first so you know what your genitals look like and how to better work them. Many different styles for masturbation are covered including fantasies and things such as shower heads, hot tubs, and water pics . Kegel exercises are covered as a means of strengthening the muscles around the vagina to give stronger orgasms. Male masturbation is covered next, but not much. A few suggestions are given but that’s about it. Masturbating for your partner is also covered. It’s a great way to lead into other things and a great way to show your partner what you really like. Of course, vibrators are also covered as a means of masturbation and focuses on electric vibrators rather than battery powered vibrators. It’s a decent feature on masturbation and includes a lot of information that I didn’t realize. If you’re nervous about masturbation, it’s a great feature that should really give you a hand starting out (pun intended).

The sexual health info contains information about the Sinclair Intimacy Institute, a definition of sexual health, the history of explicit sexual health films, testimonials from sexual health professionals, and key points from consumer & customer research as well as professional research. The chapters are the only real way to get where you want to go if you want to check something out later. A short featurette on sensual touch such as kissing, holding, and touching features straight, gay, and lesbian couples. It lasts a little over three and a quarter minutes and is very sexy. Finally, a link to the Sinclair Institute website are included.

Themes: Educational, masturbation, toys, male anal stimulation, multiple orgasms, and squirting

Raincoat Factor: Low

Overall: Currently, Unlocking the Secrets of the G-Spot can be found online for between $17 and $23 with very few stores offering it at this time. If you’re interested in any of the subjects here, pick it up. It’s a small price to pay for better sex. The video transfer has a few problems, but the audio is great. There’s also some nice extras including a bonus feature on masturbation and a nice featurette on sensual touch.

Note to Adam & Eve: The Sinclair DVDs have come along very well since the first were released. Please include a time stamp on future Sinclair DVDs.
