The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is clear, but sadly there’s plenty of dubbing throughout the feature. The video varies a bit. Much of it is very good, but there are a few shadows which are overly noticeable and a varying amount of grain, some of which is all too noticeable. There’s also a few flashes of pixelation and remnants. I have a feeling that much of this is on purpose to try to give the feature an artistic feel, but sadly it backfires and brought the movie down for me.

Music: The music varies quite a bit. Some of it has a decent sexy new age feel to it which reminds me of the style of Saint, who does the music to many of Nicholas Steele and Nick Orleans’ movies. It ranges from a nice, low balance to being the only audio in the scene and often enhances the scenes. Most of it, however, is hard rock that stays nicely in the background.

Disc Complaints: There’s both website and phone sex ads before the main menu that you can’t skip. You can scan forward through them (although some of the stuff before the main menu you’re forced to watch), but I hate phone sex and the surest way out there to get me to never go to your website is to force me to watch a commercial for it. It’s also a sure way for me to go with the lower score grading the DVD when I’m caught between two levels.

Menus: The menus leave a bit to be desired. The main menu includes a few stills from the movie and a little animation, but just didn’t do much for me. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small still of each scene and a chapter number. Unfortunately, if you don’t make your selection from the main menu in roughly a minute, the DVD stops and you have to go through all the freaking phone sex and website crap again!

The Feature

Lacey’s boyfriend (Lexington Steele) has decided that they should try a sex club. Well, actually it seems like he thinks she should try a sex club because he’s out of the feature faster than a former Arkansas governor / President’s zipper drops around co-eds. Lacey is escorted around the club by Bunny Luv, who keeps her on a leash as she shows her all that could happen to her.

Scene 1 - Lacey and Lexington Steele

Lacey, a hot black babe who has most of her tattoos decently done, starts things out with Lexington Steele after they wake up in bed together. They kiss and caress each other a little before Lex lets his tongue dance across Lacey’s pussy. Lacey wraps her lips around Lex’s cock in reciprocation before he picks her up for a midair sixty-nine. Lacey sucks it a bit more before laying back for Lex to bone her missionary style and spoon her. Lacey also puts in a bit of work in each of the cowgirls. Finally Lex gives Lacey a nice ball blast across her face as she licks her lips in anticipation and smiles taking the pop.

This struck me as a bit of an odd scene. At times Lacey looked to be really into the sex, but there were several other times when I wasn’t sure what the heck she was into. She looked like she was staring off into space, but not like she was concentrating on somebody off screen. There’s quite a bit of jib work in this scene, and some of the time she looked like she was staring up towards the jib camera, but the scene just felt off to me once the fucking started. Before the fucking, however, I’ve gotta say that Lacey can suck one heck of a mean cock and knows just how to let her eyes work while her mouth stays busy! In the end, this scene ends up just a little below average.

Scene 2 -Envy Mi and Ben English

Envy Mi, who’s lately become a personal favorite of mine and who was the main reason I picked up this DVD, takes on Ben English after giving him a massage in the second scene. She starts him out on his back before rolling him over and massaging his chest with her tits and his cock with her mouth and hands. Ben returns the favor with a tongue and finger for Envi’s snatch before letting her climb up and ride him reverse cowgirl style. They get in a little doggie before Ben gives Envy a bit of a facial that she seems like she wants to run from.

This is an okay scene at best. On one hand, Envy gets into things extremely well and doesn’t look like she’s going to let anything hold her back from a few good orgasms. On the other hand, I hated the style of the camera work and wanted a different angle almost constantly. Envi’s looking like she wants to dodge the pop also didn’t help things, and I think was the final reason why this one didn’t quite get up to average for me.

Scene 3 - Ashley Blue, Pat Myne, and Trevor Zen

Ashley Blue takes on Pat Myne and Trevor Zen in the third scene, with all of them wearing masks. Ashley starts out sucking Trevor while Pat lays back and watches them before Pat joins in to work on Ashley from behind. The guys trade back and forth as they work Ashley through a few positions, and slap her and spit on her a little before finally giving her a nice double facial that she swallows down.

Surprisingly, this scene did almost nothing for me. From the little I’ve seen of Ashley I never thought she’d bore me, but the fast forward button was the only salvation for my consciousness during this scene. It’s slow and it’s boring and it’s basically a waste of good talent.

Scene 4 - Melanie Jagger and Mr. Marcus

Angelic Melanie Jagger takes on devilish Mr. Marcus in the penultimate scene. After exchanging oral favors Marcus gives Melanie’s muff a little meat. He quickly moves past it to get at Melanie’s ass, where she takes his cock with ease. Marcus gives it to Melanie’s ass reverse cowgirl style at first and then bangs her backdoor from behind. Melanie takes a nice ass to mouth before taking the facial finish.

This is probably the best scene in the movie, if for no other reason than Melanie really gets into it. Melanie and Marcus have worked together many times, and watching this scene I can’t help but think that Marcus is one of Melanie’s favorite studs. They play off each other extremely well, and seem to know just how to move to please each other, even if the camera doesn’t always catch it that well. This is a decent scene that actually manages to make its way above average.

Scene 5 - Lacey and Talon

Lacey finishes things up with Talon in what looks to be the dungeon of the club. They work each other over orally before Lacey climbs on to ride Talon cowgirl style while his flacid cock normally flops around in front of her. Talon does get it up enough for her to ride it a little and to give it to her from behind and missionary style. Finally Lacey takes an okay facial to finish things up.

Although I’m happy to see a new guy here, my first thought upon seeing him was that he looked sad because he had to have straight sex. Sadly, that’s one of the nicest thoughts I had about the entire scene. I couldn’t help but laugh at it when I saw Talon’s limp dick flopping around in front of Lacey as the cameras showed the action from above when they started fucking. It does pick up a little towards the end, but the scene never recovered from seeing Lacey acting like she’s enjoying riding Talon as his limp dick flops in front of her like a dead fish in the back of a pickup truck as you drive down a gravel road.

Sadly, Unchained did next to nothing for me. I had a feeling throughout the entire feature that it wasn’t quite sure what it wanted to be. It starts out with a decent setup about Lacey and Lexington Steele going to a sex club, but that disintegrates as soon as Lacey shows up at the club. Sadly, the sex lacks just as much. It often seems uninspired, and comes off as extremely fake. It’s also very slow and I almost always wanted a different camera angle than what I wanted to see. The only scene that was able to come close to holding my attention was Melanie Jagger’s scene with Mr. Marcus, and even that had camera work that didn’t do much for me. Ashley Blue’s scene with Pat Myne and Trevor Zen is one of the worst I’ve seen in a long time, and others weren’t far off from it. Unchained should have stayed locked up without any chance of seeing the light of day.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for the first three installments of the United Colors of Ass series. Bios including a photo and a little personal information are included for Lacey, Ashley Blue, Envy Mi, Melanie Jagger, and Bonnie Bishop. There’s also the phone sex and website crap that you’re forced to watch before the main menu. There’s also photos and behind the scenes featurettes.

The photo gallery includes about twenty nice looking full screen photos, while the photo shoot is a roughly ten minute featurette going behind the scenes for the boxcover and magazine layout photo shoots. It includes a nice interview with Lacey where she talks about her sexuality, what she likes about the business, some of her favorite stars, and how much different body parts turn her on. In a nice touch, most of the interview is done as a voiceover with Lacey posing for the photos in the video while the interview goes over the top. It’s a nicely done featurette, and a great way to make the photo shoots a little more interesting. My only complaint about the entire thing is that the video is a bit grainy through most of the featurette.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts nearly twenty three minutes. There’s plenty of interviews with Lacey, as well as some nice interviews with Lexington Steele and Melanie Jagger. You also get to see a little of the make-up room, still photos being shot, the stars between takes, and even a bit of the movie being shot. It’s a nice behind the scenes featurette, but it does mix up Envy Mi and Melanie Jagger in its labels.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most Video Team DVDs can be found online for between $13 and $25 with a few stores offering them for under $15. Skip this one even if you can find it at the low end. Almost every scene is a disappointment, and the technical aspects aren’t much better. There’s some nice extras, but that’s about the only good thing about this DVD.

Note to Video Team: Please dump the trailers before the main menu, or at least allow the viewer to skip directly to the main menu. It’s nice to see you putting nice effort into your extras, but a little more attention towards your technical aspects would also be very nice!
