The First Word: This sequel to Tristan Taormino's acclaimed video adaptation of her book, The Ultimate Guide To Anal Sex For Women, is lighter on the instruction than the first volume and is more about action than advice. What's It About?: The video opens up with a setup that pretends that Tristan, looking adorable in with her glasses, is interviewing adult performers to be in the UGTASFW sequel. Fake-titted brunette Jewell Marceau is the hopeful, but Tristan is unconvinced, saying that she's looking for a more experienced performer with a strong anal sex track record. But she gives Jewell a shot, of course. Jewell starts the "audition" by masturbating with a clear dildo as a warm-up. But then she goes straight to the freak show by first inserting four fingers in her ass. But wait -- there's more! She then inserts her other hand, so she has a total of eight fingers prying her asshole open. She brings herself into the home strech by using a dildo in her ass with a pocket rocket on her clit. Tristan, our mostly lesbian anal mistress takes advantage of the situation to watch Jewell and rub herself with a vibe. Unfortunately, Jewell's moans sounds like a whining puppy and her voice reminds me of a phone sex operator's, making this 16-minute opening scene pretty painful to listen to. From there, it's on to the opening credits (I appreciate the clear visual identification of the female perfomers, quite helpful for a reviewer!), followed by the first "instructional" cut-scene of the video. The video changes from high quality full-frame video to a rather grainy, dark widecreen view of Tristan answering questions from a group of people in a sex shop. Instead of using porn stars for the Q&A as in the first UGTASFW, she uses presumably regular people, although it's clearly staged for the camera. The questions focus on how to avoid pain (more lube & practice with a butt plug) and "how big is too big?" That leads Tristan to "remember" some coaching she did for a rather well-endowed man (Mr. Marcus) and his petite girlfriend (Kate Frost). Back to the high-quality video, we hear how Kate wants to take Marcus up the ass but he's very big and tends to be too eager when it comes to her backdoor. I like Kate quite a bit -- she's got a nice ass, natural tits, and is a redhead (oooohhhh, redhead!). I could do without the tattoo on her back, but overall, she's a fine dish. After removing the butt plug, they use a dildo to fuck her ass as the final warm up before the real thing. When they finally get to the anal, it starts out with a very slow cowgirl ride, and unfortunately for Kate, as the scene progresses, Marcus tends to get carried away and has to be reminded by both women to slow down. When the pop shot comes, it's pretty anti-climatic, as neither seems like they had built up to an O, but rather it just happened. Back to the sex shop, where there's a question about link between anal sex & submission. Tristan explains that submissive anal can be incredibly erotic between consenting adults. Speaking about the fetish angle, she then relates that she is attracted to Ava Vincent and had the chance to do her in the ass for this video... So the next scene is Ava and Tristan, both dressed in some hot-looking fetish wear: Ava in an open-toped red & black latex number and Tristan in a skin-tight black latex military-like outfit. If anyone doubts that Ava has a nice butt, all doubt should be erased completely after witnessing her rump during this scene (or as Tristan says, "What a great ass!"). The scene goes from hot to volcanic with Tristan sucking on Ava's nipples and then Ava eating Tristan out while she's standing up. The scene really shows off Tristan's great body, including her very pink pussy. After the girl-girl licking, Tristan fulfills her fantasy by probing Ava's butt, first with a finger and then with a strap-on. Ava then violates Tristan's backdoor with a rather large, clear buttplug and then a jelly double dildo. Her climax comes suddenly and intensely -- my only complaint is that the scene ends very abruptly without any post-climax resolution. The third anal scene begins with Tristan responding to a letter from "M.G.," who apparently has an unconventional fantasy. We see Bridgette Kerkove and Lola in a room that seems furnished for sex. Lola, one of my favorite Latina actresses, is looking more mature every day (not a bad thing), while Bridgette is her normal fake-titted, big-lipped self that I can't really stand. This scene didn't really do anything for me, but was interesting with the bend over boyfriend action. The final scene is set in the sex shop after the end of the workshop, a complete bullshit setup, where Ernest Greene "introduces" Joel Lawrence and Jewel De'Nyle to Tristan. After a bit of fake admiration for each other's work and a decent explanation about pleasure from anal sex, Tristan gets "permission" from the store owner to let Joel and Jewel go at it in a sex swing in the store. The first part of the scene is vaginal action, but it then moves on to some DP with toys. The best part of the coupling is the frantic RC anal where Jewel appears to really be into the sex. I'm not that impressed by the ending of the scene, which doesn't flow with the feel of the rest of the scene, as if the pop-shot was filmed after a break. The scene is too vanilla and too forced to be a good ending to this video, but the sex turns out to be better than I would expect from Jewel. What I liked: Good, non-circus show anal: Except for a few moments, the anal sex is fairly conventional, which in today's climate of showing gapes and ATMs is a good thing. While the video doesn't pull any punches and is quite explicit, it's not "nasty." That's definitely a positive when you're doing an instructional video, even if it's not really for educational purposes. Oooohhh, Tristan!: Let me say that now that I think that Tristan is really, really hot. She's the girl next door with a great body and a healthy enjoyment of sex. She's kind of like Kacey in that she has a very wholesome and innocent look but is still involved in adult videos. I loved her performance in the first Ultimate Guide To Anal Sex For Women, where she actually took cock (she's definitely on the lesbian side of bi). While she didn't do guys in this video, she's still smoking hot and the highlight of all the performers. What I didn't like: Phony, over-the-top, premise: If you're going to bother with a setup, please, please, please, don't make it cheesy -- either make it believable or don't bother. It's a big pet peeve of mine when scripts try to pretend that the actors are ordinary, real life people. This is especially the case with a lot of "instructional" adult videos, which try to pass off people who have done hundreds of scenes as Jane or John Doe. Do I think that Mickey G. really wrote to Tristan asking how he could get his girlfriend to fuck him in the ass? Of course not! And it's really painful to hear dialogue along those lines trying to set that scenario up. True, maybe the aim was supposed to be over-the-top and a little tongue-in-cheek. But if you're going to seriously imply that your video has some educational merit, then why not drop the games and just be honest about it? Sure beats the junior high play feel of some of the scenarios... Too light on the lessons: This one seemed much more about porn-style anal sex than actual advice on how to do it. I thought the first Ultimate Guide was guilty of being much more of an anal orgy than the title might have indicated, but the sequel is much more so. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that, but I just shudder to think of the housewife who sees the title and decides to pick it up, or worse, the guy who thinks he's going to win kudo points for watching an instructional video with the missus. I wasn't expecting a PBS special on the ins and outs of anal, but I was hoping for a bit more in the education department. DVD Extras: The main extra on this DVD is a seven-minute reel of behind the scenes outtakes. It's mostly non-explicit comments on the set, some shots of Tristan giving directions to the performers, and footage of the performers getting ready for their scenes. My favorite moment was seeing Tristan holding a c-light for one of the scenes. There's also a 39-picture photo gallery included, which is a good mixture of hardcore and softcore images, all of excellent quality. I don't care for the less than full screen size of most, but I supposed that's better than monkeying around with the resolution. The last notable extra is a text biography of Tristan. A/V Quality: In general, I was impressed by the excellent production values -- definitely on-par with Evil Angel's top-notch track record in this category. However, the inter-scene clips of the sex shop Q&A, it looks like they tried to create a film-like feel to set it apart from the sex scenes. Unfortunately, the image is extremely grainy (on the order of 16mm film) and the black level very murky. It might have worked if the footage was shot in black & white, but it the end result is that it looks like it was shot in not enough light. Still, it's a minor gripe, and since it doesn't occur in the sex segments, it's not a big deal. The Last Word: I'm just as disappointed by the lack of a lot of "instruction" in this self-billed instructional video, but that is more than made up by the hot sex from start to finish. Overall, I think that I like the first Ultimate Guide better than this one, but it's still a great anal sex title. Also, as far as I'm concerned, the scenes with Tristan in them more than make this a worthwhile purchase. If you like Kate Frost or Mr. Marcus, it's a no-brainer to pick this one up. Maybe Tristan is going away from advice and more to porn, but that's fine by me!
