Celeste has long been one of my favourite porn stars and while her work with couples studio Vivid may not have been her best, it is probably the most easily accessible. Indeed, Vivid now has some five compilations dedicated to the buxom brunette, although only two were available in 2002 and all are bound to be very similar as Celeste made only a modest number of Vivid films and retired years ago.
For an enthusiastic fan like myself, this compilation works very well. Ultimate Celeste foregoes plots and dialogue to deliver 13 sex scenes featuring Celeste. This compares with her appearing in only two or three scenes in each of the contributing films and some of those source films may have been edited down by Vivid. While the compiled scenes were probably cut, thirteen of them is still much better than three.
Scene 1). The first scene comes from Trouble Maker and features Celeste, Asia Carrera and Tammi Ann. Asia and Celeste finger and lick Tammi’s holes, then Asia uses a dildo on Tammi’s ass while Celeste masturbates. This lacklustre scene is plagued by a terrible soundtrack and the girls’ annoyingly over-acted aggressiveness.
Scene 2). Scene two comes from Exposure and is a hot coupling between Celeste and Rocco Siffredi. Rocco sucks on Celeste’s great tits, then tastes her pussy before she gives him an enthusiastic blowjob. They have sex in a couple of positions with a lot of kissing and some spitting, ending with a good facial. Celeste looks great and has good chemistry with Rocco; this is easily her best boy/girl scene for Vivid.
Scene 3). I think the third scene with Celeste and Ariana comes from Reckless Passion. While it has elements of the compilation’s final scene with Celeste and Jenna Jameson, I didn’t enjoy it because I find Ariana quite unattractive. Celeste looked good but I just couldn’t get into the scene when Ariana’s stern face was in frame.
Scene 4). The fourth scene stars Celeste, Asia Carrera and Eric Price again from Trouble Maker. The trio have some foreplay on the roof of a hotel before going inside to have an unremarkable threesome. Eric eats Asia and receives oral from both Asia and Celeste but only fucks the latter (despite having just married Asia). Although fairly long with some attention to detail, this scene doesn’t do much for me.
Scene 5). Brad Armstrong has the pleasure of Celeste next, in a scene from Exposure. Brad goes down on her as she lies back on his office desk, then she turns over to suck his cock. The following sex is fairly standard and finishes with an average facial. The scene is fairly flat and isn’t helped by Armstrong’s annoying character.
Scene 6). The very grainy sixth scene is from Caught In The Act and stars Celeste with Steven St. Croix. There wasn’t much to Caught In The Act as a film and there isn’t much to this scene either. Celeste and St. Croix have sex in a lounge; the scene is fairly short, the music was inoffensive and St. Croix shoots his load mostly on the couch.
Scene 7). The sixth scene is followed by another from Caught In The Act, featuring Celeste, Nancy Vee and Woody Long. It is only marginally less grainy than the one before it and starts promisingly with some girl/girl action between Celeste and the attractive Vee, but the sex between Celeste and Long is disappointing and ends quickly and anti-climactically.
Scene 8). The eighth scene is provided once more by Trouble Maker. It’s short but nice, with Celeste fellating Eric Price in a bathroom and stroking his load onto her big tits.
Scene 9). Next up, Bobby Vitale has his way with Celeste; I think this scene was taken from Bad Girls 6. The video is over-exposed and at one stage there is a blue rippling effect at the bottom of the screen, and later a green striping effect at the top of the screen during the breast cumshot. The sex had a few decent moments but I was put off by Vitale’s ‘tough’ guy act.
Scene 10). Trouble Maker’s final contribution is this scene with Celeste taking on Rocco and Marc Davis while Asia and Eric watch. I didn’t think much of this the first time I saw it and still don’t; the scene is dark, cold and poorly-captured, with a distinct lack of chemistry between the three main participants (especially Davis, who provides nothing but a pumping penis and some seminal fluid).
Scene 11). I’m neither sure of the actor or the title, but I think this scene features Celeste with Colt Steele from Reckless Passion. It’s soft, well-lit and works fairly well despite being hampered by awful music and some other limitations. I liked the fact that although a condom was used Colt was shown opening it and putting it on. The sex is very ‘vanilla’, taking place on a bed and ending with a butt cumshot.
Scene 12). The compilation would have done better without this scene from Bad Girls 6, starring Celeste, Melissa Monet, Sindee Coxx, Yvonne and Jeanna Fine. The rowdy biker girls of Celeste’s gang ‘rape’ one of Jeanna’s gang (Yvonne) with strap-ons as Jeanna watches. The screen was mostly black throughout and the music was very bad, which basically wasted the time spent on it.
Scene 13). The disc’s final scene comes from Exposure and is one of my favourite girl/girl scenes, in which Celeste seduces a young Jenna Jameson. There’s two beautiful women, more kissing than in most other girl/girl scenes, no toys (though ice was used creatively) and no screeching or over-the-top antics; while the music was bad it wasn’t intrusive. Unfortunately, I think I spotted some cuts towards the end.
The compilation’s A/V quality was below average, which was to be expected given the age of the source material. I found the DVD navigation clumsy - there were six chapters, which booted back to the chapter menu after two scenes and would not play continuously. Extras comprise six unrelated scenes, four previews, photo gallery and website demo - nothing remotely valuable and I hope that these weren’t facilitated by the cutting of the scenes.
Although Celeste’s work with Vivid was largely unremarkable, I find her a beautiful and lively (indeed, positively frantic compared to some Vivid girls of her time) performer and she will always remain one of my favourites. This should be a good buy for her fans, to whom I would recommend Ultimate Celeste over her other early compilation, Celeste: Up Close & Personal.
