Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good. The audio is clear and well balanced, but the level changes quite a bit through the movie. Although I didn't notice any background noises there was some extremely annoying music in the first scene that definitely interfered with the movie for me. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks good. The picture is clear and the lighting shows some good care. That said, there is some camera motion and rough editing that just didn't work that well for me.

The Movie: Steven St. Croix is one sick puppy. While most people think of him as a great action and standup guy, he uses women and throws them away while trying to see how much he can humiliate them in the process. When Marie McCray comes along he plans on doing the same to her, but instead finds a spark of something he likes in her sensing a bit of the same. Things soon change, however, when he's at the other end of the game playing.

Truth Be Told is a bit of a hit or miss feature. There's a great idea behind this one, and not surprisingly both Steven St. Croix and Marie McCray do a fantastic job in the lead roles. Unfortunately, most everything else about the movie was very hit or miss for me. The sex wasn't bad, but had a darkness to it that didn't always work the best for me. The editing held the sex back even more, as it often made the scenes extremely choppy. I honestly don't know if Jessie's anal cream pie in the opening scene was real or not, but due to the choppy editing around it and right before she squeezed it out I couldn't help but seriously doubt it. The editing around Jayden and Diana's scene was also choppy, and having the scene end just as Steven was about to join in left it feeling like we were only getting half of the scene. Marie and Steven's scene almost seemed like it was edited by a Hibachi chef, and although it all appeared to be in one sex scene, was done in such an excessively choppy manner that it reminded me of mainstream movies where they show flashes of what's happening between the stars as week, months, or years go by. The only scene that seemed decently edited was the final scene between Marie and Zoey, which came out as my favorite scene in the movie.

The other thing that came across very hit or miss for me was the story, as well as the cover. The cover (which I absolutely love and is quite possibly my favorite cover of the year) makes it look like this is more of a murder thriller with Marie playing games after murdering Steven, which is far from what goes on in the movie. I can handle that, but at the same time I'm not thrilled about it. My bigger problem with the movie is that roughly ninety percent of the plot takes place in one stretch that lasts about fifteen minutes about two thirds of the way through the movie. Yes, that fifteen minutes is very well done, but it doesn't leave a lot of build up or tension through the rest of the movie, which I always think helps to make a great thriller. There's a couple really good twists there, but the overall pace left Truth Be Told as an okay feature rather than a great one. Truth Be Told has a great idea behind it, as well as a solid cast. Unfortunately its execution often left me disappointed and it ended up barely making it past the average mark for me because of it.
