The Movie

Teenage Hustler is a fast, cheap, and badly made adult film. The story is told by a narrator (Carolyn Brandt) in full. If the narration were removed, none of the film would make sense at all. As the story goes, English Billy Boynton (Charles Orlando) is a conman, a hustler, and a sex freak who's mind is always on women. His mind apparently should have been on paying the rent as his landlord wants the rent money or English Billy (who for some reason is almost always referred to as English Billy) will be evicted. English Billy comes up with a plan though and he enlists the help of his photographer friend Rufus (Rick Martino). English Billy's plan is to call up prostitutes and while English Billy is having sex with them Rufus will secretly take photographs. Then the two would blackmail the prostitutes and would get rich.

The plot makes no sense at all. As to why the prostitutes would pay blackmail to English Billy and Rufus is completely unknown. And how English Billy and Rufus would get the photographs developed and have time to mail the blackmail and then collect the money before English Billy got evicted is unknown (remember this was made prior to digital photography). It seems that this was intended to be a comedy, but the reality is that it isn't really that funny at all.

But this is an adult film and plots aren't always the greatest. A weak plot can be overlooked for good sex scenes. Yet Teenage Hustler fails at the sex scenes as well. There are only three real sex scenes within the entire film. One is with English Billy and the first prostitute Mary (Mary Monroe). One is a girl/girl scene prior to the plot being told to us by the narrator. And the final one which we are shown pieces of through most of the rest of the film is Rufus and Mary. There are sex scenes with English Billy and the second prostitute Vicky (actress unknown) but the scene is softcore and Orlando spends most of the scene trying to hide the fact he doesn't have an erection. There is also a sex scene with English Billy and Trixie (Eve Orlon), the final prostitute. Other than a brief segment of pussy eating, which doesn't even look like it was shot with Orlon, the rest of the scene is also softcore. One can only assume that Ray Dennis Steckler shot the entire film in one day and Charles Orlando was unable to perform after the first scene and Steckler was unable to hire a stunt cock to take over for him.

No matter how you look at it Teenage Hustler is not a good adult film. The plot is a total waste. The acting is horrible. And almost half of the sex scenes are softcore trying to masquerade as hardcore.

The Edition

Classic X Collection has done a horrible job with this release. Teenage Hustler is presented in the full screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The master used for the transfer appears to have been a VHS tape. The transfer has tracking lines at various points in the film, print damage, artifacts, and grain. The picture is dark and a lot of fine detail is missing. There is one point where the entire picture turns into a completely gray screen, then a green screen, and finally a purple screen before returning to showing the picture again. There are no menus for the disc at all. The movie starts when you put the disc in and the disc stops after the track is over. For some strange reason, after the film is over, the disc goes into another film in progress to show the end of an orgy scene then the end of the other movie. It looks as if the VHS tape that was used as the master had Teenage Hustler recorded over another title originally.

Teenage Hustler is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural track. The audio track is poor as well. The audio is muffled. There are pops and jumps in the audio track as well. One can usually hear what is being said though.

Final Thoughts

Teenage Hustler is a quickly produced and poorly made adult film. The story is a loss and the sex scenes aren't very good, those that aren't softcore that is. Classic X Collection has done a horrible job with this release which is of bootleg quality.
