The Little Details

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: As usual with Tara and Code's movies, there's some definite care put into the technical aspects. The audio is normally well balanced and clear, but the outdoor scene does have a lot of wind noise. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks quite good. There's a little camera motion, but it's far from bad, and Tara and Code know how to work their camera better than some professionals whose work I've watched in the past. The lighting is well done and there's very little grain. This is a very impressive homemade release technically.

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower right corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six clips from the movie.

The Feature

Scene 1 – Tara

Scene 2 - Tara and Code

Tara and Code go for a drive and after a while find themselves a little lost. Tara distracts Code as he drives by starting to play with herself, and they soon end out in the great outdoors. He has some wood problems so they take another break, and Tara commenting on possibly hearing people probably doesn't help matters much before a car drives by slowly and parks just within view. They decide to go for it again in the car, and soon after Code pops in Tara's pussy from behind. Afterwards they watch the other car a bit and share a few laughs and memories.

This is another winner of a scene. Yes, the wind provides a few distractions with the background noise, but for a homemade release it doesn't seem that bad. The outdoor and public sex aspect is handled extremely well, and although the cynic in me always wonders about a setup I can honestly say that if it is, it's done well enough that I don't care. Of course, a cream pie finish doesn't hurt anything for me either, and helped this to end up another great scene.

Scene 3 - Tara and Code

Tara starts out the final scene in a sexy white bra and panties showing Code a red anal toy wondering what he thinks. He's all for the toy as long as it isn't used on him, and soon after she's smiling and laying back on the bed as she starts to work the toy around her pussy and ass. This is a great final scene, which by now is no surprise. I love the chemistry between Tara and Code, and that support comes out very nicely here as she decides to take the anal step. I also love that they take things nice and slow with the anal like normal people have to instead of doing the “fit a dildo the size of a small child's arm up your ass with no warm up” that's so often shown in adult films. This is a hot and enjoyable scene that's everything I've come to expect from Code and Tara.

Tara and Code 4 continues the series with the same great feeling and sense of exploration that made the earlier episodes so enjoyable. There's no shortage of smiles from Tara in each scene as well as no doubt about how into each other she and Code are. The scenes take their time, but never feel like they're being stretched out unnecessarily. Although there's only three scenes here, due to the variety of the scenes it's hard to feel shorted in any way. You get a solo masturbation scene, public sex, a cream pie, and a start towards anal sex with some very nice toy play and a double penetration. The only problems in the movie are during the outdoor portion, and even then I can't get too worked up about it. The wind noise is very noticeable, but far from unusual in the conditions the scene was shot at. The wood problems were a bigger problem for me, but it sounded like Code and Tara weren't too far off the road and if this was the first time they tried something fairly public with the camera I can understand Code being a bit nervous. All in all, Tara and Code 4 continues to show why I've come to think of this as one of the best homemade porn series out there and leaves me once again looking forward to more.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most of Shot at Home's DVDs can be found on their website for around $20. Don't worry about the price, just pick this one up (along with any of Tara and Code's other releases). There's a great variety to the sex and no limit to the chemistry between Tara and Code. The technical aspects are very good for a homemade release despite a bit of wind noise during an outdoor scene, and there's a little effort put into the extras with a half hour preview reel. This is a very nicely done homemade release.
