The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I don’t think I noticed a single flaw. The video is also nicely done. It’s presented in non-anamorphic widescreen and has a bit of grain with some nice lighting. The grain helps with the artistic feel, and my biggest complaint about the entire movie technically is that it wasn’t given the support to go to anamorphic widescreen.

Music: The music is very well done. It’s nicely balanced with the rest of the audio and changes feel from scene to scene. It definitely kicks things up a notch and helps out the entire movie.

Menus: The menus are okay. The main menu shows some nice effort and gives a very good impression but the chapter menu is very generic and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number.

The Feature

Scene 1 - April and Marty Romano

This is a very nice way to start off the movie.

Scene 2 - Ann Marie and Tyce Bune

Tyce finds out that he made a very good choice in his rent-a-date for the night when the lovely Latin Ann Marie shows up a the door of his hotel room. Scene 3 - Aurora Snow and Evan Stone

The other part was that the editing seemed a little off with things like the dissolve into the pop shot, which always leaves me thinking that the guy was having a few problems. This is a pretty good scene, but not nearly as good as the scenes before it.

Scene 4 - Kaylynn and Jay Ashley

Psyched out druggies Jay (okay, with Jay it might not be the drugs) and Kaylynn get it on after a visit from Bellboy Eric about people outside the window of their eighth floor room. Kaylynn turns her great oral skills loose on Jay’s cock, going back and forth between sucking his cock and checking out the window for people out there. I’m not much of a fan of oral scenes, but this one works pretty well for one reason: Kaylynn. I love how she frantically went back and forth between cocksucking and other things, and she kept it all at a fairly frantic pace. The only bad thing about this scene is Jay Ashley, but I can get past it a little here since it was before he tried sliming his way around quarantines designed to protect the safety of adult performers.

Scene 5 - Faith Adams and Eric Masterson

When Eric goes to deliver a bottle of bubbly, he finds himself in the bathroom with hot brunette Faith. This is a pretty good scene. Eric and Faith have okay chemistry, but there’s something a little standoffish about the scene. I think some of it is the odd music, but there’s something else about the scene that held it back a bit that I can’t quite put my finger on. This is a decent scene, but far from the best in the movie.

Sweet 101 is a well done couples movie. Robby D. keeps the plot light and amusing, and Eric Masterson does a very nice job holding it all together. I really like the varied themes to the scenes, and the cast does a fantastic job playing their roles. Ann Marie easily stands out as the best, but Kaylynn is almost as good in her role. Sexually, I think I like April and Marty Romano’s scene best, as it had some great passion. My biggest complaint is that the sex felt a bit limited throughout Sweet 101. It’s almost always oral, two positions, and a pop, and that made some of the later scenes feel like the earlier scenes all over again. In the end, though, I enjoyed Sweet 101 and would definitely recommend it to couples looking for something to watch together.

You have the option to watch the photo gallery which contains nearly thirty very nice looking snapshots at your own speed or as a slideshow. A bio is included for Robby D. There’s also reviews on the title from various sources, a behind the scenes featurette, weblinks, a commentary.

The audio commentary features Robby D. with the help of Nic Andrews. They talk about most everything that comes to mind. They talk about the technical parts of the movie as well as the performers. Of course there’s a bit of ego that comes out between them, as well as plenty of laughs. As usual with Digital Playground’s commentaries, it’s fun and informative to listen to, and well worth checking out. My only complaint is that you can’t really hear the movie for almost all of the commentary.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about three and a half minutes. It mixes a few shots of Robby working with the cast with a few comments from the cast. Of course, with this group there’s more than a little bit of fun around the set as well. For its length it’s a pretty good behind the scenes featurette, but I can’t help but wish that it would have went on longer. At least it didn’t get into the fart jokes like most of Digital Playground’s behind the scenes featurettes.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Digital Playground DVDs can be found online for between about $12 and $28 with many stores offering them for around $20. At the low end this one’s a good buy. The movie is nicely done for couples and has some nice humor. The technical aspects are very well done and there’s even a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a very well done DVD all around.
