Initial Expectations: I’ve had mixed results from Nic Cramer so I don’t quite know what to expect. Since Gina Lynn is one of Pleasure’s newest contract girls I’m hoping he does one of his better jobs.

Initial Reaction: It’s a pretty average movie but I kind of like Gina Lynn.

Who Should Watch It : Couples, Nic Cramer fans, people who like Vivid movies (either the entire original movie or the edited version for DVD) and people who like a little tamer sex.

Who Should Avoid It: Fans of anal, lesbian, group, and fetish sex.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is dubbed slightly but not much. It’s actually pretty good. The video quality, however, isn’t. I couldn’t help but think of the mainstream movie Hot Shots! when I saw the video quality of Suspended Disbelief . Almost all of the feature appears to have been shot in some version of “Walleye Vision”. The perspective on everything appears to be slightly off. A lot of it also looks like it might have been shot under water. The color varies from okay, where the lighting was well done, to very bleached out where it was saturated. Since Mr. Cramer apparently only shoots with film, it’s also very grainy. There is a little bit of the movie that’s very clear, but not much. Although I don’t like a lot of the things about the technical aspects of the movie, it’s consistent enough that I get the feeling that Nic Cramer actually wanted the movie to look like this. The amount of grain is also very average for a feature that’s shot on film. Hopefully somebody knocks some sense into him one of these days.

Music: The music has a wide range of both styles and balance. It ranges from a dark industrial feel to a sexy jazz. It also ranges from well balanced to the only audio.

Menus: The menus are very basic and the chapter menu is done by number only.

The Feature: Suspended Disbelief follows Randy Spears as he tried to deal with his girlfriend leaving him. He goes to enter a theater to get his mind off of reality and a genie (Gina Lynn) gives him a magic ticket that allows him to time travel when he tries to go to a movie. It’s an idea that’s been used many times before, both for better and worse. As he travels, he falls in love with Gina and he rides her off into the future sunset (since this is a time travel porno rather than a western porno).

Shawna Sexton and Chris Cannon open things up as Randy Spears reads Shawna’s Dear John letter. Shawna has a pierced navel and clit and real tits. She also has her pubic area shaved a little different. At first I thought it was a stick man. The entire scene has a kind of nasty and dirty feel to it although it’s only vaginal couples sex. Shawna does a very sex and very long tease for Chris before she works his dick out for the blowjob. It’s a little different scene as Chris’s face is barely seen. Granted, I’m not watching this to see the guys, but for a couples sex scene there’s very little of the guy seen. Artistically, it has some great things here. It flips between Randy reading the letter and the sex very well. Sadly, Mr. Cramer’s messing with the technical aspects of the scene varies the heat in it between very hot (which all of it should have been) and warm.

Randy’s first trip from the magic takes him back to around the 1920's with Pat Myne and Shelbee Myne. Randy appears as their driver as they get busy in the back seat and outside the car. There isn’t much oral sex here, but thankfully there are a lot more of the sexual sounds than in the last scene. The chemistry in this scene really helps it out, which it should since they’re a couple in real life. Some of the artistic aspects help out this scene once again, especially the shots done with the rearview mirror. Randy is almost always present in the scene somehow, but he never join in. He just sits there and watches happily. Overall, it’s a pretty warm scene although Shelbee does finish it off with a nice facial taking some of Pat’s pop in her mouth.

Finally, we get to a scene with Gina Lynn as Alec Metro works her over in a 1950's style convertible. Gina gives him a very slow, tender blowjob that gives the scene a very sexy start. The rest of the scene is pretty average, but Gina’s nicely vocal. She doesn’t scream her head off or anything, it just seems like the perfect amount of moaning for this scene. When it’s time of Alec to pop, he sprays her from her pussy up to her face where she opens up to catch whatever she can before giving a great smile. It’s a very warm scene and another scene that probably would have been better if Mr. Cramer wouldn’t have messed with the video as he did.

Gina shows a little more of what she has in the next short scene as she masturbates for Randy. She doesn’t use any toys, she just puts her legs up on the seats around her in the theater and diddles away. It’s kind of ironic, since the scene follows the KISS rule very well and I always thought it took at least two people to kiss. Oh, well. Gina does a nice job of working herself over and I’m not exactly sure how Randy resisted diving in to help her. It’s a very good scene and lets Gina show a little more of herself and her talents.

Randy gets his chance in a scene set in Roman times with Dominica, as she feeds him grapes. Dominica has slightly bleached red hair and a very real body. There aren’t any sex sounds in this scene, but it’s still very enjoyable due to how much Dominica gets into the scene. It always helps a scene when you can tell the cast loves their work and Dominica is probably the best example of it in Suspended Disbelief . She also takes a very good facial at the end that Randy should be very proud of. It’s a borderline hot scene, but if the sex sounds would have been there it would have easily jumped up another notch.

Randy gets to use his magical ticket to get a piece of Gina in the final scene. Rather than some of the more exotic settings of the other scenes, this one takes place back in the theater again. Gina gives Randy a nice slow blowjob, similar to the once that Alec received earlier, before he fucks her pussy. I was a little disappointed that Gina didn’t get her pussy eaten a little here, but they do a good job of making the scene feel fairly realistic position-wise for taking place in a theater. There’s only a couple positions, but they work well. This time Gina finished with a great facial before she and Randy decide to let the magic ticket take them into the future.

Although it isn’t close to an original adult film, Suspended Disbelief does show some potential for Gina Lynn, Pleasure’s latest contract girl. Gina reminds me a lot of Tiffany Mynx although she doesn’t show Tiffany’s nasty streak here. From what I’ve read on her, she’s half Italian and half Puerto Rican, which gives her a nice little bit of ethnicity that’s kind of hard to nail down. She does have implants, which I don’t like, and sadly they don’t look too realistic. They are well done in the fact that I didn’t see any scarring on them. Aside from her implants, the rest of the package is mighty fine and she doesn’t have any tattoos or extra piercings. She strikes me as being perfect for a school girl type feature. She has a nice cuteness that combined with her sexiness will hopefully take her for quite a ride, pun intended.

The sex in Suspended Disbelief is very couples friendly and if anything might be too tame for some viewers. All of the sex is only straight vaginal sex and masturbation without toys. It’s a decent movie, although not extremely original, but I think it could have been a lot better if Nic Cramer would have had somebody standing behind him with a large ruler that would be used to beat him frequently. He has some decent ideas but I really think the things he does to the video ruin a lot of the feature. If you’re a fan of Nic Cramer, however, this may very well be one of your favorites.

Extras: The biographies only cover Gina Lynn. It’s great to see Pleasure support their contract girl but it’s a little lacking. The photo gallery is very impressive. It contains forty (yes, forty) pictures mixing snapshots and full screen shots ranging from average to very good. Trailers are included for Stray Cat, Evil Eyes, Looker , Prey, Shattered Vows, Intimate Strangers, Penetrator 2, A Clockwork Orgy, Eros Instinct, Poser, Flesh for Fantasy, and Back & Beyond . There are also several other covers listed. Most of the trailers are pretty decent trailers and many of the films are by Nic Cramer. Finally, there’s web site information and phone sex commercials.

Overall: Currently, Suspended Disbelief can be found online for between about $15 and $20. At the low end it’s not too bad of a buy since I think Gina has some potential. The extras are very average but give a great selection of trailers. The transfer is very mixed. Nic Cramer does some things to the audio and video that I really don’t like but I have a feeling that it transferred very well from what he wanted.

Note to Pleasure: Gina Lynn shows some possibilities. I hope to see more of her. Please put a little more effort into your extras. Your bios especially are lacking. Finally, please have somebody beat Nic Cramer severely until he realizes what reality looks like or include enough “herbal supplements” with each of his DVDs so that the consumer won’t care about how it looks.
