Superwhores 3 (Mercenary Pictures) Review

Initial Thoughts:This is more of a general advisory to consider with this disc, rather than a review. For a good indepth review of this title, I point you towards the link to fellow ADT reviewer Bono-One in the upper right hand portion of this page. He was one of the lucky ones who got this disc to work. I used 3 standalone players, a PC and a PS2, and had identical results with all 5 tests of this disc, and It gave me no opportunity to review it. The disc loads perfectly normal, and navigation through the menus works just fine, no sign of any defection. The BTS and Trailer portion of the disc was my first target since I have read 3 other reviews that stated these areas did not work properly, and sure enough, clicking on them boots you directly back to menu as if they do not really exist on the disc.

OK, sad that this is a common problem on these discs, but atleast I have a likely smashing good Lexington Steele feature to look forward to, right? Wrong, I could not get through one scene without repeated bump backs to the menu just like the clicking on the BTS and Trailers in the extras menu, part of the scene would play, and then boom, right back to the menu and having to start all over, so I went to the fetish menus, and there is no cursor present and the motion points are locked, so you cannot use them at all to jump to parts of the scenes, and the menu bumps occur just the same if you start the scenes through the chapter index. Let me be clear, there are no lock ups or freezes as is commonly seen with defective discs, this gets to a point, and bumps you right back out to the main menu or menu you were in when you started.

Now I accept that this is likely an isolated error with this disc, but it is clear to me that there are none the less significant issues with this particular release, and numerous known cases of either missing or unaccessable data. There are a couple of good reviews of semi successful viewers of this disc, so if you wish to take a shot with it anyway, please see those for what I am unable to provide you with here, but I thought it usefull to some to have the opportunity to know full well of this issue before they went ahead and purchased or rented this disc. It would not appear to be isolated to certain brands, of player, since I used 4 different manufacturer drives in my attempts. I also hope that Mercenary pictures maybe reads this and starts to get to work on this issue to prevent it from occuring again.
