Initial Expectations: Scary Minds impressed me, and I can't help but look forward to this release as well.

Initial Reaction: This is a very impressive release with a well done movie and a DVD that shows a lot of care overall.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting sex with a darker edge

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting soft and cuddly porn or who wants to see each guy's face

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio level varies a little here and there, but has a nice balance. The video is nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. There's a touch of grain, but the lighting is well done and with the darker feeling of the movie the grain doesn't really detract much from the movie.

Music: There's some very dark music to start each scene. It's well balanced with the rest of the audio and always helps to intensify the mood of the scenes.

Borderline False Advertising: The front cover claims ”2 ½ Hours of Pure Perversion”, which I think is stretching it a bit. If one takes the total footage of the DVD it does make that time claim, but the movie's just over and hour and a half and the behind the scenes featurette is just under an hour. The “Pure Perversion” part of the claim is the thing that really sticks out to me, as those two words make the claim sound like it's just about the movie and that really overstates what's there. As impressed as I was with both the movie and the behind the scenes featurette, I think this claim really misrepresents what's included here. It continues to build things up a little much by listing interviews, behind the scenes, photo gallery, and backstage stills separately on the back cover (along with repeating the 2 ½ Hour claim) when the interviews are short and built into the behind the scenes featurette and the backstage stills are built into the photo gallery. This is a well done release and DVD, and claims like this only cheapen it by making it seem like it should have given even more than it did. As impressed as I was with what's on the DVD, in the interest of fairness I'm deducting a half point from the overall score.

Menus: The chapter menu is very simple, and just gives a still with the choices for a first impression that's extremely simple, but somehow still works well. The chapter menu is just as simple, and lets you choose a scene based on a chapter number and a still from each scene.

The Feature

The Games of Perversion series focuses on darker sex. Here the men are always masked and have their way with the women after sneaking up on them to capture them, often running them down.

Scene 1 – Sue, Frenky, and Dave

As dirty blonde Sue runs through the woods in white heels, a pink spaghetti strap top, a lavender sweater, and a jean skirt, she's pursued by a guy in a hockey mask who catches her when she trips and falls. Next thing she knows she's on a bed in a cell where two guys in hockey masks eye her through the bars as she lays on a simple bed. Scene 5 – Candy Cat, Diether Von Stein, and Nigel McKenna

Scene 6 – Patricia Parisch, Rittea, Diether Von Stein, and Philippe Soine

This is an okay scene. Rittea works it very well with Diether, and they keep their portion of the scene going very well. My problem with the scene is halfway a personal one, as when it comes to group scenes I like to see everybody get involved without any favoritism. I can understand the domination aspect here, but if I was somebody who picked this one up for Patricia Parisch I know I'd be going away from this scene mighty pissed off as she only gets a couple minutes of action in the scene and spends the rest of the time just watching the action with her tongue out. That can work if a girl's in multiple scenes, but when it's her only scene in the movie it just doesn't work for me. This isn't a bad scene, but it just can't keep up with some of the others and easily comes out as the weakest scene in the movie to me.

Strange Games is a very dark adult film, but also one that works quite well. The darkness always turns into passionate sex, and there isn't a single scene here where the girls don't look like they're completely into the action. The openings are also very well done, and there's a bit of variety that mixes things up nicely. Sometimes the openings are on the dark side with heavy domination themes while others they seem like they could almost be playful if not for all of the guys in the movie wearing hockey masks. The mask thing is something that doesn't do much for me ever, but Soine nicely keeps the focus on the females here so that the masks rarely entered into the equation for me watching the scenes. Patricia and Rittea's scene didn't work quite as well for me due to how limited Patricia's role in the scene was, but every other girl in the movie did a nice job and put out both holes extremely well. Strange Games is dark enough that it's definitely not for everybody, but if you want something on the darker side of things with plenty of hot anal, it's definitely worth checking out.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts nearly six minutes with about five seconds per good looking full screen photo or pair of snapshots. There's also weblinks and a behind the scenes featurette.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts almost an hour, and is nicely broken down by day and location. Nataly starts out being driven to the location while showing off her goods before Philippe talks about what he had planned for the scene and how he's going to change it a bit because of how cold it is. He works with Nataly and Frenky a bit and has Nataly show off a bit before fucking her from behind. She also sucks his cock before she lies back to let him fuck her missionary style. Finally, Nataly sucks and strokes Philippe to a pop on her face and neck before things cut to him shooting the scene. This is a great behind the scenes featurette. It does a great job mixing up extra action, the shooting of the scenes, and little interviews with the stars. There's also some nice footage of Philippe working with the cast and explaining to the camera how and why he's doing things certain ways. This is a very impressive behind the scenes featurette, and unlike so many other featurettes that are only half its length, there's very little fast forward fodder here.

Currently, most Woodman Entertainment DVDs can be found online for between about $17 and $25 with a few stores offering them for under $20. If you're looking for something on the darker side of things, this one should be well worth your money. The sex is hot and there's some decent variety to the scene openings. The technical aspects are nicely done and the behind the scenes featurette is fantastic. This is a very nice DVD that's well worth checking out.

Note to Woodman Entertainment: Please watch your cover claims regarding times, as this seems more than a little misleading. Also, a cast listing by scene would be a very nice addition to your DVDs, especially with releases like this where you can't always see who the guys are.
