The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are above average. The audio is pretty clear and well balanced, but there were a few times when the music seemed a little heavy and I thought I heard a background noise or two. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks pretty good. The camera work is very steady and most of the video is very clear. There are a few areas where some filters or affects were applied, and some of the results interfered with the action more than not.

Music: The music is pretty well done. It varies in style a little throughout the movie, and also varies in balance. There are some times when it gets a little loud, but most of the time it disappears for the main action.

Menus: The main menu blends a little animation with a boxcover stills for a simple but nice first impression. The chapter menu is much the same way, and lets you choose a scene bases on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number, as well as the name of the girl in her first chapter.

The Feature

Stoya Sexy Hot keeps things pretty simple. Each scene has a minor segment to lead into the action, and normally includes a bit of tease. Being a Celeste movie it also has some very strong stylistic elements.

Stoya strats things out in a red bra, a fake fur coat, red legwarmers, and a tiara texting Ramon about how she's a slut and he should come over and fuck her before starting to work on herself with a red dildo. This scene fell a touch short for me due to my tastes, but it's done well enough that I can't help but think a lot of others will really enjoy it.

This is pretty much a throwaway scene. It's extremely short and although Stoya gets into the play pretty well it feels incomplete and ends up feeling more like a tease than anything. This seems like it should have been a bonus scene or something to run behind the opening or closing credits more than like it should have been part of the movie. Although Stoya does a good job here, this is easily the weakest scene in the movie.

There's still something about the scene that didn't quite hit right for me, but once again Stoya and her dirty mouth and great eyes show plenty of potential.

Stoya Sexy Hot is an above average fuck flick. As usual with Celeste directing there's a major focus on style, and although some of the styles worked for me a lot out the outfits didn't do much for me. That might be why this one fell a little short of my expectations, as the sex was still pretty good. Stoya and the girls all do a very nice job, but the male side of the equation fell a little short for me with Johnny Sins showing up for two scenes and never quite bringing the same drive as the other guys. The Love Twins' scene with Mick Blue also fell a little short due to feeling limited by the back and forth action, and Annette's scene didn't do a lot for me just due to her current overexposure. As for the rest of the scenes, once again Stoya shows why she's a contract girl worth keeping an eye on and she's very well joined by Dana DeArmond and Sasha Grey. Dakoda Brookes also does a nice job in her scene even though Johnny doesn't give her a lot of help. Stoya Sexy Hot isn't a bad movie, but it just couldn't meet the expectations I had for it.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery can be viewed either manually or as a slide show lasting four minutes with about five seconds per very nice looking snapshot or full screen photo. There's also weblinks, a behind the scenes featurette, and cumshot recaps.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about nine and a half minutes. Stoya starts out chatting with Jamal about the house she's shooting in and her dislike of small dogs. She also shoots her scene and shares a little pre-scene time with Ramon before Jamal chats with the Love Twins and captures some of their stills and the scene being shot. Dana poses, shows off, and chats about doing anal instead of drinking before Dakoda talks about why she got into porn and hoping to become an interior designer. This is a pretty good behind the scenes featurette. It has some of the usual DP wackiness that makes their BTS featurettes fun as well as some nice eye candy and a bit of personality. As usual, this is a nice addition to the DVD.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. Aim a bit low or rent this one first. Maybe I had too high of expectations for this one, but it just didn't work as well as normal for me. The sex is above average, but never great and the technical aspects didn't work as well as normal with some of the artistic effects. There's still some nice effort put into the extras, but that's the only part of the DVD that really gave me what I expected with Digital Playground. There's some good effort put into this release, but it just didn't work as well as usual for me.
