Still In High School: Who Needs A Boyfriend Review

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting nastier sex or top notch technical aspects and camera work

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done for an amateur feature. The audio is okay, but is pretty much dominated by the radio in the room. The video is also pretty well done. It has a bit of grain, but is very nicely lit. The camera work is partially done from a tripod, but is often done nicely and even the tripod work is better than most.

Music: There’s a bit of music in the background which is provided by the radio in the room. This amused me a bit, but at the same time helped with the home movie feel of the feature. Surprisingly, it’s normally pretty well balanced with the rest of the audio.

Disc Complaint: There’s a watermark in the lower right corner of the screen. I mention it here because I know that a lot of people really hate watermarks. On the plus side, it’s clear and it stays there consistently throughout the feature so that you can put it out of your mind fairly easily.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. Neither the chapter menu nor the main menu are animated, but they still look nice. The main menu presents the choices in a pleasing way which fits the feature very well. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for the scene.

The Feature

Still In High School: Who Needs a Boyfriend starts Mandi’s career in porn. That’s right, she’s still in high school here (although she is legal), and has decided that she wants to be in porn. This feature is her debut, and there isn’t any of that pesky plot stuff to get in the way of things.

Scene 1 - Mandi and the guy

After a little playful kissing, Mandi and her man strip down so that she can give him a little oral attention. He tongues Mandi’s twat in return before they try fucking. The guy has a bit of stage fright, so the cameraman sets things up with a tripod so that they have a better chance of getting things going. Mandi gives him a bit more head and lets him eat her a bit more before he climbs on for another missionary attempt. Mandi takes a bit more control by climbing up for a bit of cowgirl action as well as a little more missionary and a bit of doggie. Finally, the guy pulls out and pops on Mandi’s stomach.

This is a nice first scene. Yeah, most of it is shot from a tripod, but it’s also set up well enough that you can see most of the action. There’s very little that’s lost here of Mandi, and you can tell how much she’s getting into it. The guy’s head is lost much of the time, but you can see him getting into it as well. This is a nicely done first scene from Mandi and her partner.

Scene 2 - Mandi and the uncredited guy

Mandi starts out the second scene sucking her boyfriend before letting him go down on her once again. You can tell this is a later time as Mandi now has her bush shaved clean while he eats and plays with her. They keep things going through a bit or missionary and doggie, as well as Mandi getting it while laying on her stomach. They mix in a bit of oral as they fuck before he finally pops on her back.

This is another nicely done scene. There’s very nice energy in it once again, as well as good chemistry. Mandi doesn’t play to the camera quite as much here as she does in the first scene, but is just as vocal. There’s nothing really new here, but it’s another nicely done scene.

Scene 3 - Mandi and the guy

Mandi and her man finish things up in the shower. She gets down to suck him a bit, and mixes in a fair amount of stroking due to them apparently having a porno shower reject because theirs actually has water come out of it when they get it on. After a little oral Mandi lets her man slide it in both facing her and from behind. He also works Mandi over with the shower head and they work in a bit of oral. This time the guy doesn’t pop, but he seems to get a very nice orgasm out of Mandi as they bring things to a close.

This is a nice scene to end things with. Yeah, I would have liked a pop at the end, but it seems much more oriented towards Mandi’s pleasure. It mixes things up nicely and keeps it fairly short as well as nicely focused. This is a nice way to bring things to a close.

Still In High School: Who Needs a Boyfriend is a pretty good amateur feature. It’s most notable as being the start of Pixie Girl Mandi’s porn career, and you can see the potential in her throughout the feature. Yes, she mugs the camera a bit, but I think that’s pretty standard for first timers. More importantly she does a great job of letting her enjoyment out so that it can be captured by the camera. She’s nicely vocal and puts some very nice energy into her scenes while looking cute as hell. The problems I had with the feature were all fairly minor, and fairly common among amateur and homemade features, such as heads getting cut off when the scenes were being shot from an unmanned tripod. Even then I’ve seen things captured much worse than they were here, which impressed me because I think this is one of Pixie’s early movies. Still in High School: Who Needs a Boyfriend is a nice debut for Mandi and a well done amateur feature. If you enjoy amateur and first time features, this one deserves a place on your shelf.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts about a minute and three quarters with about three seconds per decent looking full screen photo. There’s also a nicely done commercial for Pixie’s with Mandi.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many DVDs from Pixie’s Emporium can be found online for around $13. This seems pretty fair for what you get here. The action is very good for first timers and the technical aspects are nicely done. There’s even a little effort towards extras to help out the overall package, although nothing overly special.

Note to Pixie’s Emporium: It’s nice to see you putting some effort into improving your overall DVDs. I’ll admit that I’d like to see a few more extras, but even as is you’re completing very nicely with what I’ve seen from the other amateur studios out there.
