Stalker (Sin City) Review

Initial Thoughts: The last couple of Sin City feature films, have impressed me a great deal. In an age when feature films are either really bad or barely mediocre, with just a few great examples of adult film coming out from a few studios, Sin City has seemed to have made a serious effort to rejuvenate the genre. Vivid's idea that a feature should not exceed 70 minutes wasn't getting it, and Wicked and a few others that usual do get the features right, have been dipping down that road too often on occasions, so I have found it a great change of pace to see Sin City come out with over 2 hour epics lately and most importantly, put in some proper effort. This disc stays right along that path of recent successes too, as we follow Hannah Harper who plays Holly, a lingerie model with a dick head of a boyfriend and watch a man completely obsessed with her fall down the path of the darkside and end up in worse shape than Annakin Skywalker in the process. The story actually holds up quite well, and is definately worth watching for any adult film feature fan. There is some suspense, and some decent acting by most of the cast.

There are some holes though that seem to be the possible effects of not taking enough time to develope the script, and some issues where the character development lacks some depth. For Instance, Kris Slater is Doug, Hannah Harper's boyfriend, much of the plot revolves around him hiring a guy to develope a security system for her safey at thier home, however, he won't talk to her, he won't fuck her, he get's in fights with her, and he is cheating on her with Ariana Jollee. What the hell sense does it make for him to go to all this trouble for her safety? Well I won't give anymore of the plot away, but it does work on most levels, and the sex is pretty hot for feature stuff, and the condomless idea is all too rare in good features too, so good to see there. A very hot and sexy cast, really nice extras, and I have to say there is a lot to like here and only the picky bastards like me are gonna fault the story and things like that for a porn disc. Very solid effort.

Technical Considerations: This one is presented in widescreen format, 1.80:1 by my estimation. This movie is pretty dark, both in terms of it's plot and in terms of it's physical lighting, more times than not it works well to set the mood or create a theme, but while it works good for the feature, it is occasionally too dark and uneven for filmed sex. Camera work is generally good, but it occasional compicates the lighting issue from the shots chosen, but it is generally solid. Picture quality was just a little grainy in some areas, and sound was generally good. Menus were nice looking and well layed out.

A pretty climactic ending, and a solid build up, but in my estimation, Hannah should have taken her final decision a step further, your gonna have to watch though to know what I mean, since I refuse to spoil it in text.

Director's Commentary: There is an alternate audio track for this feature with running commentary from the Director Francois Clousot, some of it is pretty interesting, some not so much, but it's worth a listen for most feature porn fans.

Final Thoughts and Recommendations:

This is just another very fine effort from Sin City, it is really hard to complain too heavily when this one really stands out in the upper tier of what is out there for features these days in adult films. As I mentioned there are a few story and acting weak points, but thier very minor for a porn film, pretty unnoticable even for adult films, but this one was a significantly better story and feature than the average, I expected higher of it. It is a completely worthy story that will hold adult feature fan's interest I think, and has plenty of solid hot sex with a really well put together cast to be the main draw. The spacing is nice with some story, around 20 minutes of sex, 10 or so of story, then repeat several times, and the story finishes off after the sex unlike too many features, so it keeps things rolling well and keeps up interest in both main catagories. Solid extras once again with plenty of bonus stuff and a nice feature make this one a solid buy for feature porn fans, couples looking for some drama and a different story, or fans of these ladies.
