Specs Appeal 6 (Kick Ass) Review

Audio/visual quality: The technical qualities of Kick Ass DVDs continue to impress me. The visual strengths include a nice variety of satisfying camera angles and a sharp focus even during extreme close-ups. The audio suffers very slightly from hiss and minor background noises, but the clarity is good on the important stuff, like the bed squeaking. There's normally no music during the sex, although Rhiannon's scene does include the Specs Appeal theme at an unobtrusive volume in the background. (It's a great theme, by the way, so I really don't mind.) Dialog is always easy to understand.

First impression: Look sharp! There are a couple of excellent scenes here.

Scene highlights: This is the sixth volume of Specs Appeal, but only the second that I've seen (I also watched and reviewed Specs Appeal 2). Each scene follows an identical theme throughout the series: i.e., a horny guy wants to score a bespectacled hottie, but he keeps goofing it up until she clues him in. The scripted setups are short and sweet, and they're followed by much longer sex segments, with the ladies wearing their glasses throughout.

Politics makes strange bedfellows out of conservative Karianna and leftist Lee Stone. They don't skirt the issues—they jump from fully clothed to totally naked in one swift edit. Karianna soon convinces Lee she's all "right" by taking his cock to the back of her throat and lubing it with liberal strings of spit. Lee tends to Karianna's vaginal and anal welfare with his tongue. The vaginal positions are energetic but apparently not scandalous enough, since they quickly progress to anal missionary and doggie. There will be no future voters from this particular pairing, as Lee's population pudding lands squarely on both her lenses.

Rhiannon Bray is an "entrepreneur" running a puppy mill. Rhiannon may not have graduated at the top of her class, but Pat Myne decides that a woman raising 502 dogs probably knows how to take care of him, too. She starts by playing with his boner and balls, and then she shakes and laughs orgasmically during his tongue bath. The sex begins with (what else?) doggie, leading to some hard and fast thrusts that make Rhiannon howl with pleasure. The chemistry continues through a couple more vaginal positions, and Pat demonstrates his puppy love by marking Rhiannon's glasses as his territory. Pat's quiet, chatty encouragement is a real bonus throughout this scene. I appreciate guys who make the effort to be mentally present and involved in the sex. Rhiannon is less verbose, but she says it all through her great eye contact.

Feng shui expert Elizabeth Delmar helps homeowner Jay Ashley properly channel his energy. He traces her pussy patterns with his tongue, and she strokes his wood element with her mouth. Yin meets yang in four vaginal positions, including a somewhat unusual sideways doggie variation. Elizabeth is pretty, but her loud and repetitive moans are not exactly harmonious to my ears. I'm a bit relieved when Jay's mighty compass needle finally points to her lens for cumshui.

Aromatherapist Ashley wears a sublime scent that seduces customer Mark Ashley. It's often said that smell and taste are linked, so it's no surprise that they begin with a blowjob and oral. Mark gently massages Ashley's anal bud before probing the power of her pussy flower. Her pheromones are so alluring that he initiates anal sex after only a single vaginal position. (I'll try to refrain from any malodorous puns regarding Ashley's ass-to-mouth action.) Mark's essential oil sprays all over Ashley's glasses, hair and face, which prompts her to smile for the first time during the entire scene.

Claire arrives early for her SoAA self-help group (Survivors of Alien Abduction) and encounters Alex Sanders, who gamely plays along. Claire's quite happy to skip the meeting and instead help herself to Alex's cock, which she takes deep to the back of her throat. He proves he's no alien to oral sex by competently tonguing and sucking her clit and pressing his face firmly against her pussy. Alex then introduces Claire to his special healing program, which includes three vaginal positions rather than the usual 12 steps. Claire might even discover a few UFOs (uncommon female orgasms) during this scene; she quivers and flushes a bit and looks like she's having a whole lot of fun. The sex is extremely energetic, and it even includes four or five tender little kisses—very nice. I don't know if Alex was praying to his Higher Power before this scene or what, but he releases quite a generous volume of jism on Claire's face and glasses.

Thumbs up: I love the tease sections. Although I'm not a foot fetishist per se, I especially enjoy watching the women caressing their feet as they smile into the camera. They look happily sensuous, like they are at ease in their naked bodies and are anticipating the physical pleasure yet to come. Also, the short "plot" segments that precede the tease are quite amusing. I mean, where else can you hear Alex Sanders admitting that aliens gave him a rectal probe?

Although the actresses don't play with their glasses nearly as much as I would like, it's nice to see that all five cumshots hit the lenses. At the end of every scene, the women remove their glasses and clean them with their tongues.

Thumbs down: Sometimes the sex seems rather detached to me (though the actors are strong and capable humpers and the actresses are plenty noisy, if that's all you need to maintain the illusion). My major complaint would be the lack of consistency in the chemistry, but I have a few lesser ones, as well. For example: five scenes, three beds. Not much effort is expended to disguise the fact that two bedrooms are used twice. The first scene also seems miscast. Karianna is too highly inked and pierced to look the part of a conservative, whereas Claire's cropped haircut and undecorated body might have suited the role better. With a little forethought, the producers could've switched their dialog, while leaving the sex footage as is. The result would have been more realistic without losing its humorous impact.

And here's a modest suggestion: could one or two of the males wear glasses? At the very least, could the names of the male performers appear somewhere on the box cover, even if it's in tiny print on the back? I feel like my interests as a female viewer are somewhat overlooked.

YogaGrrl's motherly advice: As I mentioned in my review of Specs Appeal 2, semen contains a number of irritants that can sting the eyes. It's apparent in the behind-the-scenes footage that Claire is suffering the ill effects of accidental overspray. So guys, please be kind. If you're planning to squirt your partner's glasses at home, be ready to help clean up immediately with a damp washcloth if needed.

Final analysis: Claire's the major cutie on this DVD, and she looks dang good in her glasses. Rhiannon is sexy, too, and because of these two actresses, I'm thinking of checking out Smokin' 6 in the near future. Otherwise, the sex on Specs Appeal 6 seems adequate but not always personally exciting to me. I've rated this movie somewhat lower than Specs Appeal 2, yet I'd still definitely consider it above average overall.
