Initial Expectations: It’s been a while since I’ve watched anything from this series, but I remember it being a lot of fun. I’m going in here with fairly high expectations.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is clear and pretty well balanced. There isn’t a lot of background noises, but they do appear a couple times. The video is nicely done. It’s nicely lit but has a slight hint of grain.

Music: There’s a little music at the beginning of the segments, but that’s about it.

Menus: The menus are nicely done. The main menu nicely blends a bit of the movie with a bit of animation and a still. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and the name of the girl in the scene. When you select a girl, you’re given a secondary menu to let you choose what part of the scene you want to go to.

The Feature

The Specs Appeal series goes with a vignette style, and nicely identifies each girl at the start of their scene. Each scene revolves around girls with glasses and guys trying to get in their pants. After a fun little story to set things up, things move on with hot sex where the glasses come into play a little here and there.

Scene 1 - Bianca Pureheart and Steven St. Croix

After going through some bad crap, Steven goes to psychotherapist Bianca for help. Of course, Steven thinks the best way to get over his problems is for her to sleep with him. He takes control and gets her to submit to him quickly. She sits down on his lap, strip down, and lets Steven suck her pretty little titties, admire her ass, and work on her holes with his fingers. This is a pretty hot scene. Bianca is definitely a looker and puts plenty of energy into the sex. She also has plenty of vocals, but there were a few times when I couldn’t help but doubt the authenticity of them. She looks like she might have a few real orgasms as Steven works her over, so they very well might be real. Although I was pretty impressed with Bianca, Steven didn’t do much for me. He started off with a political comment which could have just as easily been left out and moves on with a few acts that seemed a bit misogynistic, such as holding Bianca’s head down as she sucked his cock to the point she looked physically uncomfortable and unhappy. Finally, there’s the camera work. Most of it is nicely done and there’s a good balance to camera angles. The only thing that really interfered with it were some fast zooms and pans and the absence of a few position changes. This is still a pretty hot scene, but with a couple minor tweaks I think it could have been better.

Scene 2 - Amber Peach and Van Damage

Van has his sights set on getting into a high class club, as well as the pants of its dirty blonde hostess Amber. After taking advantage of her modeling desires, Van gets Amber to strip down for him. Scene 3 - Jezebelle Bond and Seth Dickens

Seth is into extreme sports, and has hired dark haired Jezebelle to teach him about cave repelling. This is a pretty good scene. Jezebelle puts in some nice energy and has okay chemistry with Seth. The cameras capture it pretty well, but I had a hard time getting into the scene because it felt extremely cheap and cheesy (yes, even for porn). It’s supposed to be taking place in a cave, so Jezebelle and Seth get it on in a bed that looks like it’s in the corner of a room that’s all painted black. It made the scene seem cheap and cheesy, and I had a hard time not laughing at it a few times.

Scene 4 - Sabina and Alex Rox

Alex wants to get it on with his probation officer. He comments about drugs so she’ll have him fill a specimen jar, and dark haired and skinned Sabina makes sure to watch so she knows he isn’t faking it. After watching a few moments, she comes around to help him with a little knob gobbling, and lets him bend over to warm up her holes with his tongue and fingers. Sabina even helps him out with a little titty fucking before letting Alex eat her pussy as she lies back on her desk. This is a pretty good scene. Sabina and Alex both put some nice energy into the scene, but the camera work seemed a little weaker here. It seemed a little more focused on the penetration than trying to capture both the penetration and the girl’s reaction to being penetrated. It also started off a little rough for me because Alex’s accent was so thick that I could barely make out what he was saying. Thankfully Sabina’s a hottie who quickly got my mind back on the sex!

Scene 5 - Harmony Rose and Seth Dickens

Seth wants help bagging Chess Queen Harmony in the final scene. After playing on Harmony’s insecurities, Seth helps her strip down and lets his tongue explore her pleasure points. This is a pretty good scene. Harmony is energetic and vocal, but she often gets so vocal that I couldn’t help but doubt the authenticity of her moanings. She’s fun to watch, but I just didn’t think she was overly real.

Specs Appeal 21 is a decent porno. I love that Kick Ass still uses all natural girls, and they’re definitely on the cute side here and look like they love sex. Unfortunately, that’s about where the uniqueness or good parts end. When I last checked out this series, the lead-ins were fun and unique. Here, the lead-ins seem to revolve around how a loser can trick or pressure a hot girl to fuck him. Every now and then I don’t mind seeing this if the person can do it so that it comes off as fun rather than degrading. Here it happens often enough that I can’t help but think of it as degrading. The lead-ins also held the movie back for me by feeling very similar. Yes, the girls were all in different situations, but the setups are so similar that by the third scene I was starting to get bored with the scene before anybody even got nekkid. The camera work also held things back a bit for me. Most of it was nicely done, but there’s quite a few fast pans and zooms that stood out to me as well as a few odd angles. Taken scene by scene, Specs Appeal 21 is pretty hot. As a whole, however, it seems stuck in a rut and ends up as just another above average porno.

The Extra Stuff

The blooper reel lasts about five and a half minutes. You get plenty of flubbed lines as well as a bit of fun on the set. Thankfully the bloopers come from both the setup sequences as well as the sex scenes, which gives things a nice mix. Sometimes the bloopers are people having fun, and sometimes you get to see things go wrong such as a cramp at the wrong time. This is a fun and nicely done blooper reel.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Kick Ass’s DVDs can be found online for between about $19 and $25 with stores offering them everywhere in between. I’d rent this one first. The sex is good but stereotypical. The technical aspects are pretty good and there’s a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a decent DVD, but I just don’t know if it has enough replay value for the price.

Note to Kick Ass Productions: You have a great idea here, but it seems to have stalled. Please try to find the fun aspect a bit more and dump the disrespect of women.
