The Little Details

Running Time: 75 min. (cover states 120 min.. This might be the total running time for the DVD, but if one doesn't are about the behind the scenes or all the trailers they're going to feel awfully ripped off. It's kinda like ordering a half pound chili burger at a restaurant and then getting one that's a quarter pound of meat instead and being told that the half pound includes the bun, chili, toppings, fries, and whatever funky green stuff they put on the edge to decorate it up. I'm deducting a half point from the overall score because of this.)

Initial Expectations: I've been liking a lot about what I've seen from Penthouse lately. With a cast this good I can't help but have high expectations.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't hear a single background noise. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks very nice. The camera work is smooth and there's some good attention paid to the lighting. There are a few shadows, but they almost always seem right for the location of the scene and rarely interfered with the action.

Music: The music is nicely done. It varies a little in style throughout the movie and is always nicely balanced with the rest of the audio sitting in the background.

False Advertising: A behind the scenes featurette is listed on the back cover (as well as in the closing credits with Voodoo being credited for it) but not included on the DVD. I'm deducting another half point from the overall score because of this.

Authoring Note: This DVD doesn't contain a full time stamp, which severely limits navigating the movie. Navigation is limited to chapter breaks, which are very limited here, and if something in the movie really trips your trigger and you want to go back to it you're going to have to scan through the entire scene rather than being able to jump directly to certain times in the movie. This really seems like substandard authoring, and it holds back the overall DVD a little because of it.

Menus: The main menu blends a few stills with a little cheesy animation for a fun first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a clip of each scene along with the name of the ladies in it.

The Feature

Sleepover takes the format of Penthouse's revered Forum with people writing in to tell of their sexual encounters. Here the girl in each scene starts out the scene talking about what happened before it switches over to show what happened. In each case the setup revolves around somebody sleeping.

Scene 1 – Bree Olson and Charles Dera

Knockout blonde Bree starts out talking about how she had a fight with her boyfriend and left with pretty much the clothes on her back. She heads over to her good friend Charles' house who lets her know she can stay as long as she needs, and when he asks Bree if there's anything else he can do she moves in for a little more comfort. They kiss while holding hands before helping each other undress with Charles moving right in to suck her tits and worship her pussy and ass from behind. Bree eagerly works his cock over in return, and soon after they start Charles leans forward to sixty-nine her. This is a hot scene and a very nice start to the movie.

Scene 2 – Sunny Lane and Jack Venice

Sunny talks about how she had a great boyfriend, but their college made it very hard for them to spend enough time together. They came up with the idea of him sneaking in through her window when everybody else is asleep, and when the time comes Jack moves in through the window and starts fingerbanging Sunny's pussy. Scene 3 – Jenny Hendrix and Steven St. Croix

Scene 4 – Holly West and Alan Stafford

Realtor Alan finds her and lets her know that she can't just use the house no matter what the sign says, but they quickly come to an unspoken agreement as she slides her hand down his thigh. Throw in that that scene doesn't even last ten minutes and you have a scene that can't even make it to the average mark. This might have been a good scene to include as a bonus or deleted scene, but as a part of the main movie it just doesn't cut it.

Sleepover is a nice little fuck flick. As with most of what I've seen from Penthouse's recent movies, it comes across with a feeling that the most important thing to them is that sex should be fun. That's just what this release is, and that feeling flows through each and every scene from a light opening with the girls each talking about a sexual experience before things switch over to show the scene. Bree, Jenny, and Sunny are no doubt the top three draws for Sleepover, and each of them do a very nice job. In fact, the only scene that falls short is Jayden's, partially due to it not even lasting ten minutes and part of it being James Deen having some major wood problems. The action is also all boy – girl vaginal, which makes this a great release to check out if you're looking for something to help introduce that certain somebody to porn without scaring her too badly. Sleepover is a nice light porno with a very nice feeling to it.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Slumber Party, Booty Call, Picturesque, Exxxtra Credit, Rexxx, and Speakeasy. The photo gallery lasts about four and a half minutes with about five seconds per good looking snapshot. There's also a bonus scene with and accompanying photo gallery and internet information.

Bonus Scene – Alexis Love and James Deen

The bonus scene comes from Slumber Party. While out of town for a friend's wedding, Alexis feels the need for a midnight snack. Currently, many Penthouse DVDs can be found online for between about $17 and $25 with several stores offering them for around $20. If you want chemistry and a lighter feel, this one might worth the money despite the short length. The sex is simple, but works well and there's some nice care put into the technical aspects. The extras also show a touch of effort, but sadly nothing seems unique to the feature.

Note to Penthouse: Please watch your cover claims to make sure your DVDs deliver what you're claiming. Trust is a lot easier to lose than to earn back, and you're doing a nice enough job on your DVDs that you really shouldn't need to misrepresent what's included on your DVDs.
