Initial Expectations: Graham Travis has put together a great cast for his directorial debut, and Elegant Angel has shown a nice eye for fresh talent behind the camera. I'm looking forward to this one!

Initial Reaction: It's the best adult directorial debut I've seen in an extremely long time, and arguably one of the best releases of 2006 so far.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are extremely well done. The audio is clear and very nicely balanced, although if you watch it on a DVD-Rom player it does have a few level changes throughout the movie where the audio drops away for a few moments and then comes back. The video is very nicely done. It has a touch of grain, but that seems perfect for the artistic look of the movie. There's very nice use of lighting with a few minor shadows, and the camera work is smooth and even. This is a very nice looking and sounding movie.

Music: There's hints of music here and there, but that's about it.

Menus: The main menu does a great job setting itself up with clips from the movie and actually made me look forward to the main menu, which nicely worked together a little animation with the boxcover still. The chapter menu shows some nice care as well, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the girl in it.

The Feature

Graham Travis makes his directorial debut with Slave Dolls 2, continuing the rough sex feel that Jake Malone started the series with a few years ago. It mostly has a vignette feel with the scenes being connected by a domination and fetish theme, but there's enough little moments to make it seem like the vignettes might be part of a bigger picture as well...

Throughout the years, Patrick Collins has shown a great skill in finding young directors with Tom Byron, Mason, William H., and Jake Malone being just a few of the people to whom Patrick has given a chance behind the camera. With Slave Dolls 2, Patrick Collins still has one heck of an eye for talent by putting Graham Travis behind the camera. Domination and rough sex movies can be very hit or miss for me, as there are very few of them where you can feel the chemistry between the performers and the camera work often seems average at best. Neither of those things is a problem here, with some credit definitely going to William H. for his videography. The scenes are rough, but show a great artistic eye and plenty of passion. They also show great consistency, as there isn't a single scene that even thinks of dropping down to the average level for a moment. I'm not sure that any of the scenes can compare to the opening scene between Tiffany Mynx and Manuel Ferrara, but that scene is one of those gems that most porn fans only dream of finding. Slave Dolls 2 is one of those movies that deserves a spot not on your shelf, but right next to your DVD player.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts about four and a half minutes with about six seconds per very nice looking framed snapshot. It's a little on the short side, but it does mix things up nicely with interviews, extra sex, and fun on the set. My only complaint here is that this featurette wasn't a bit longer.

The bonus footage lasts over twenty minutes and is nicely broken down by scene. Katsumi starts things out with a bit more pussy and ass play, as well as more fucking for about seven and a half minutes. This is a great movie on a DVD that shows plenty of care.
