Initial Expectations: I haven’t seen many Wicked features or DVDs that even get down to average, which gives me my normal high expectations.

Initial Reaction: It’s a nicely done feature that’s really helped out by Randy Spears’ and Sydnee Steele’s performance.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of Randy Spears and Sydnee Steele as well as well acted porn

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody looking for nastier sex or raincoaters

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is clear, but at times feels a little flat or off balance. There are also a couple moments when it seems slightly dubbed. The video is almost crystal clear. There are a few shadows, but they normally add to the scenes rather than take away from them.

Music: Most of the music has the standard feel to it for porn, but there is a bit of variety and even the standard stuff doesn’t feel as recycled as some other porn music does. It’s also nicely balanced with the rest of the audio.

Menus: main menu is Wicked’s normal high quality menu that has a unique feel and is nicely organized. The chapter menu lists the chapters by a scene number and a small clip of the scene. It’s a pretty average way to offer a chapter menu, but I really wish Wicked would list the cast in the scenes as well.

The Feature: Randy Spears has it rough. He has to look at pictures of Wicked girls and makes posters for Wicked’s features as well as shooting and designing lingerie company spreads. After a freak accident, Randy finds himself able to read women’s thoughts. Although he starts to use it just as enjoyment and to get women, over time he starts to see things a little more from a woman’s perspective, as well as appreciate them more. He’s also helped along the way by his feelings for an old flame, Sydnee Steele, who’s just come back into town.

Kylie Ireland starts things off with Cheyne Collins. She’s shooting him for a photo spread and asks him to pose for a few nudes to help build her portfolio. Although not extremely original, The Shocking Truth is perhaps the best done adult movie I’ve watched that revolves around mind reading. Much of the credit for the movie’s success easily goes to Randy Spears. He plays the lead role with a nice range of emotions and with a nice change throughout the feature. Unfortunately you don’t see him as the big jerk that most everybody else does at the start, but the blanks are filled in pretty nicely as the feature moves on. Sydnee Steele also does a wonderful job, playing her role very realistically and also with a wide range of emotions. Her sexual talent is shown with the same variety, and she does it all with ease. Although some of the rest of the sex doesn’t flow quite as nicely, the worst scenes here are at least average, and normally better. The Shocking Truth nicely blends together a very well acted feature with some very good sex.

Extras: Wicked shows some nice support for their latest contract girl by packing The Shocking Truth with extras. Audio bios are included for Sydnee Steele, Kylie Ireland, Jewel De’Nyle, Kristal Summers, Taylor St. Clair, Randy Spears, and Jim Enright. As usual as of late, Wicked has put together unique audio bios for each feature that includes some nice personal information, still photos, a list of the star’s other Wicked features, and a link to the star’s scene in the feature. Trailers are included for Working Girl, Crazed, The Bride of Double Feature, Dream Quest, Flashpoint, Knockout, Satyr, and Vengeance. There’s also a company profile, a listing of Wicked’s AVN and DVD awards, promotional materials, and the Wicked Web & Casino.

The photo gallery only lasts a little under a minute and a half, but the photos move right along with about two seconds each. Each photo looks very nice, but they move just a little too fast. I like to move through the galleries pretty quick, so I like this a lot more than the eight seconds that Wicked was going with on some of their other photo galleries. In a very nice touch, there are also photo galleries that focus on each of the ladies in the feature. All told, the star galleries last another six and a quarter minutes while moving at the same quick two seconds per photo.

All Access: The Making of The Shocking Truth lasts just over twenty four minutes. As usual, as each major player comes on, they’re nicely identified on screen. Sydnee Steele starts it out giving a nice rundown about the entire movie before it cuts to some of her photo shoot. There’s also some nice shots of Jim Enright working with the cast as well as showing the scenes being shot. Many times, although you’re watching the same scenes as in the movie, you see them from a new angle with the behind the scenes camera so it doesn’t feel so much like a rehash of the feature. There’s a little bit of behind the scenes stuff, but most of this featurette revolves around the actual movie being shot rather than the other things happening on the set.

For those who enjoy behind the scenes stuff, there’s also an Easter Egg interview with Sydnee Steele talking about the difference between the sexes.

The outtakes reel lasts about four minutes. There’s both sex scenes and non-sex scenes, with most of the scenes taking place around Randy Spears. As usual, Randy provides a few good laughs and you can tell he really enjoys his work. Sydnee Steele is also in quite a few of the scenes, and you can really see the chemistry between them. Although this isn’t laugh a minute outtakes, it’s still a lot of fun.

April’s solo scene lasts about two and a half minutes. Apparently, Shay didn’t quite finish her off in their scene together, and April isn’t going to go home unsatisfied. She sits back in a chair and works her pussy over with the jackrabbit vibe. It’s obvious the crew is enjoying it as much as she is, and they all help in their own special way. It’s an okay solo scene, but well worth watching just because of the crew’s participation.

Overall: Currently, The Shocking Truth can be found online for between $19 and $29 with a nice spread between stores. At the low end, this one’s a no-brainer. The movie itself has good sex scenes, but even better non-sex sequences. The transfer and extras are also excellent and raise this DVD above what the sexual level is.

Note to Wicked: Very nice job here. The outtakes and April’s solo sex scenes were great extras.
