Initial Expectations: The Shane’s World series has had a strong following since its inception, and from what I’ve seen there’s a good reason for it. I expect another great DVD here.

Initial Reaction: It’s not nearly as good as some of the other Shane’s World features.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of great gonzo porn or anybody in the cast

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody looking for extremely hardcore sex

Audio /Video Quality: As usual, Shane’s World has a great transfer for gonzo porn. There’s a lot of outdoor sex but very few outdoor noises interfere with it even though you can hear all the sex sounds. The video is also very good, and although it has a few shakes now and then and a little pixelation, it looks very good for a gonzo feature. The only drawback is that a lot of the scenes are shot indoor and the lighting isn’t as good as normal. It looks like they’re trying to light the scenes with one treble light.

Music: There’s very little music and none during the sex scenes.

Menus: The menus are well done with a bit of animation and fits the feature nicely. The chapter menu is fairly broke down with the chapters listed with what’s happening in the movie and providing a short clip of the chapter.

The Feature: Shane’s World has been well known for using different locations and showing the stars more as they really are. This time, the Shane’s World . gang is going mountain climbing in the desert. As usual, there’s a lot of screwing around, both literally and using the normal slang meaning. There’s fun around the fire, with Bobbie deciding she has to pee in the fire, and the group just hanging around the house. When it comes time to go climbing, we get to see most of the group as they both learn on a smaller rock as well as when they start climbing using the ropes.

After trying to get Vince Voyeur to fuck her, who’s more interested in showing off his gaseous powers, Bobbie (now known as Cassidey) goes off to work on herself with a jelly dildo. Before long, Vince has retracted his ego enough to let ger get close enough for physical contact. Sadly, Shane’s World #21: Cliffhanger doesn’t have the same spark as many of the other episodes. Most of this can be blamed on the cast’s personalities. Vince comes off as an extremely self centered jerk, with Billy not too far behind. Bobbie (Cassidey) doesn’t come off much better. She appears to be a really needy, stuck up, slut. She does an okay job, but from what I saw in the main feature, I’m not exactly sure why she has such a following. Luckily, Ian Daniels comes off as a very real guy, Dayton comes off as pretty fun, and Halli Aston comes off as very real. The three of them make this installment of Shane’s World watchable despite the raging egos of the others.

Extras: As usual, OGV has given Shane’s World #21: Cliffhanger a nice selection of extras. Many of the standard extras are there as well as a few new ones. First up is an eleven minute scene with Billy Glide and Olivia on shanesworld.com. Olivia’s presence here had me scratching my head a little because she wasn’t even in the feature. For those of you who haven’t seen Olivia, she’s heavily tattooed, has tits that look like they should have “inflate to 50 psi” tattooed on the side, is most of the way to being a human pawn shop, and has a smile that looks like she’s taken a heavy hit of Joker gas. Beyond that, however, I’ve heard that she’s a fantastically nice person, which is what really counts in a person (although it’s normally overlooked in porn). Surprisingly, the web site isn’t even mentioned but instead they both talk a little about their past and Billy talks about his favorite Shane’s Worlds . After that, they get a little busy. Jane manages to give about the best description of a suitcase pimp one could come up with. There’s also some clips of the cast trying to sleep and a little bit of extra sex. It’s a pretty good behind the scenes that adds nicely to the DVD.

There’s also many of the standard extras. In a very nice touch, OGV uses a picture of the cast with their names on it as the bio menu. You select the person you’re interested in off the picture to go to a screen with a little bit of personal information, a list of their other OGV titles, and a link to their scene. Trailers are included for Shane’s World #22 as well as the Slumber Party series. There are also trailers for Pick Up Lines #12 - 35, Peeping Tom and Rodney Moore’s series. The photo scrapbook lasts two minutes with about five seconds per well done picture. There’s also a link to Shane’s World on the internet.

Overall: Currently, Shane’s World 21: Cliffhanger can be found online for between $22 and $28 with most stores offering it for under $25. If you’re a big fan of the series, pick it up at the lower end if you absolutely have to. If this is your first experience, please rent it or watch another episode first (especially Shane’s World #19: Tropical Paradise or Shane’s World 20: Ragin’ Rapids ) since this is one of the lesser Shane’s World installments. The transfer and extras are still great, but the personalities of some of the performers in this one bring it down.

Note to OGV: Please don’t list Shane as the director. It’s pretty well known that she hasn’t been involved with Shane’s World in quite a while. Listing her as the director only makes you look bad. I was also disappointed that we didn’t get another installment of The Happy Prostitute or something similar. I can understand why you didn’t have a commentary on this one after watching it, but it was also missed.
