The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: Normally one doesn’t expect compilations to have consistent technical aspects, but Shades of Sex 3 comes pretty close. Most of the audio is nicely balanced and clear, but there is a little dubbing. The video varies a little, since some of the scenes are gonzo style rather than features, but for the most part there’s very little grain in the video. The lighting is also pretty good, although there are a few shadow problems.

Music: The music varies quite a bit throughout the feature, both in balance and style. There are a few places where the music completely overpowers the rest of the audio, and some scenes don’t even have any music. This helps to give the feature a nice variety of styles.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu is nearly unanimated, but does have a pleasing look to it. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a scene number.

The Feature

Shades of Sex 3 continues Adam & Eve’s interracial sex compilation series. Unlike many interracial series, the scenes here are more than just black men and white women. Orientals and Puerto Ricans are featured in many of the scenes, and you’re given a clue (sometimes only the series name) to where each scene came from before it starts. Sadly, the name of the people in each scene are not given.

Scene 1 - Mia Smiles and Chris Cannon

Sadly, that also happens to be the biggest weakness here. Although I really like both Mia Smiles and Dee, I have no doubts that a few people out there don’t. Those people are bound to be extremely disappointed as about half of the scenes here contain these lovely ladies, while fans of them will no doubt be very pleased. Being a fan of these ladies, part of me also hopes that Adam & Eve devotes a compilation to each of them similar to the one they did for Ava Vincent in Ava Vincent: Blonde Vixxxen. My other main complaint is that none of the stars are really identified at the start of their scene. Yes, you can check out the original movie since it’s identified, but I always like to know who the heck I’m watching in a scene. Since the movie is identified on its own background at the start of each scene, I don’t know why adding the performers’ names would be that much more difficult. Still, it’s better than most of the compilations that Adam & Eve’s competition is putting out right now. Shades of Sex 3 is a nice addition to this compilation series, and worth checking out by anybody wanting more interracial action than just black on white.

There’s barely a bad scene here, and they look very nice as well. There’s a nice mix of races, and the transfer is pretty good as well.

Note to Adam & Eve: It’s nice to see you trying to mix up the feel on your compilations rather than just changing the theme for each one. In the future, I hope the movie and performer names find their way back into the chapter menu.
