Initial Expectations: This series has really started to grow on me and Robby D. is almost always worth watching. I'm looking forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: There's plenty of hot sex, but the style didn't always work the best for me.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects show the care one can't help but expect from Digital Playground. The audio is clear and well balanced, and although there are a few effects now and then, they fit with the artistic style of the movie. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and is very artistic. There's plenty of washed visuals along with fast editing, areas of softness, and lighting imbalances. I know this will be hit or miss for plenty of people, but there was enough consistency to the style that it didn't interfere with the movie for me.

Music: The music varies a bit throughout the movie, with some of it being on the heavy side while other parts are fairly well balanced. The styles vary as well, and while some of it works very well other parts seemed very creepy and made me think they would have worked much better in Digital Playground's Scream series than they did here. Granted, I don't think that the Scream series had come out yet at this time, but while the music was eerie the setups of the scene weren't so much and this gave them a slightly off feeling.

Menus: The main menu blends a few stills with a little fairly generic animation that works well enough to give a good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene, the name of the girl in it for her first chapter, and a chapter number that doesn't correspond to the chapter number in the movie.

The Feature

As usual, the Sexual Freak revolves around domination issues. Maybe it's the power one gets catching somebody doing something they shouldn't or maybe somebody has given in and let somebody else have power over them from the start. Either way, Jana's going to make a few appearances.

Scene 1 – Paulina James and Scott Nails

Jana: Sexual Freak 4 is a pretty good release. It's definitely heavy on the artistic style this time around, and that style was a little hit or miss for me. I didn't have a problem with the visual style, but the music often had a creepy feeling that I didn't find sexy at all and which brought down several of the scenes a little for me. As for the sex, that was always right on. I think Carli and Jana's scene was my favorite, with Poppy's and Cassie's coming in close behind, but for headlining this one Jana's role seemed very limited in the movie. Jana: Sexual Freak 4 has hot sex, but the artistic style and especially the musical style held the movie back much more than normal for me.

There's a little time shooting Katja and Poppy's scenes before Jamal chats with Paulina with an information ticker adding plenty more information. Poppy has a few words with Jamal before he moves around the set with lots more stuff added in. This is an okay behind the scenes featurette. Jamal seems a bit clueless even though there is some fun mixed in. This isn't a bad behind the scenes featurette, but it isn't nearly as good as some of Digital Playground's other behind the scenes featurettes.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s bigger releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. This one might be best rented first. The sex is good, but the artistic style is heavy enough that some people might have some problems with it. The technical aspects are very artistic, but consistent, and there's some nice effort put into the extras. This is a good release.

Note to Digital Playground: It's great that you headline your girls in series like this, but I hope in the future you give them a more prominent role than you did here.
