Sex Time (Vivid) Review

Review:
“Sex Time” is a surprisingly excellent production from Laurent Sky and Vivid that features stunning visuals and a futuristic, high-tech setting. Why is this production’s excellence “surprising” to me? The answer is twofold. First, any time I see a title like “Sex Time”, my expectations aren’t very high. Second—and more importantly—my only other run-in with this director’s work was “Seduction”, a Wicked feature. While this wasn’t a bad DVD, it was only a touch above average and had a lot of cheesy aspects to it. Amongst these was a “Fucking Time” hand-stamper that came down prior to the sex in the various scenes. Unfortunately, this item is still present in this production, but the vast majority of everything else—including the more artsy elements—really works out here in a way that it didn’t in “Seduction”. Indeed, the only things keeping “Sex Time” from hitting the highest rating of five stars are a couple of poorly-handled pop-shots and an odd screen format change between the penultimate and final scenes. That all said, let’s take a look at the specifics of this super-hot feature.

There are five scenes presented here—all of them of the boy-girl variety and the first four being excellent with the last being very good. The same general format is generally followed for each, with a flashy lead-in sequence followed by some solo-girl action—sometimes with a vibrator and sometimes without. The only segment of the film that deviates from this formula is the first, with Hillary Scott, in which the masturbation is missing. Also made good use of in this production is a rotating platform upon which various sex acts take place. The different positions are often punctuated by artsy, intra-scene cut sequences to good effect, as well.

In terms of the sex, Hillary Scott and Sascha get things started with a hard-pounding anal sequence (Scene One). Of note here are Hillary’s blowjob skills—which include deep-throating, spit, gagging, and face-fucking—as well as her doggie-style anal ramming over the arm of an armchair. This one finishes with Sascha popping on a ball-gag that Hillary is holding to her mouth, followed by some oral cock clean-off and Hillary licking off the ball. Sandra Romaine and Tommy Gunn are up next in an intense segment that takes place in a futuristic-looking bar (Scene Two). Making good use of the props, the highlights here involve Sandra being taken on a barstool in reverse-cowgirl and missionary-like positions, among others. This sequence closes out with a facial for Ms. Romaine, followed by some oral cock clean-off. Bringing in the goods in the next scene are Kate Frost and Jean Val Jean—of cooking t.v. “fame” (Scene Three). The oral action by Kate here is sensual and features spit and deep-throating, while her doggie-style and reverse-cowgirl work are both excellent. This coupling also comes to a close with a facial and some oral cock clean-off. A red-toned segment featuring perennial fan-favorite, Eva Angelina, and Kris Knight follows Kate’s and Jean’s romp (Scene Four). Perhaps it is the lighting and the effects, but Eva’s inner-demon really seems to come out here. This is particularly true in the case of her scorching doggie-style work and her voracious reverse-cowgirl maneuvers in this sequence. Undercutting this scene’s attempts at perfection, however, is the pop-shot that briefly lands on Eva’s cheek and then is apparently botched up—and possibly supplanted with fake cum—thereafter. The grand finale involves Brittney Skye and, once again, Jean Val Jean (Scene Five). The reverse-cowgirl and standing side-entry positioning in this segment are its highlights, and it ends in a pop-shot that is largely lost in the lights and appears to hit Brittney’s chest. The screen changes from a widescreen to a 4:3 (?) perspective in heading into this scene, as well—which is quite odd.

Some other items merit a mention, too. When the disc is inserted, advertisements play. These can be skipped individually by hitting the “Scene Forward” button on the remote. Further, there is a relatively unobtrusive website water mark in the lower right portion of the screen. This isn’t too distracting. The production values for this disc are solid, as are the camerawork and camera angles. The running time is over an hour-and-a-half, and the scenes are of an ideal length, as well—not too long, but not too short.

In terms of bonus materials and other options, there are “Play Feature”, “Scene Selection”—which is as its name implies, “Positions Room”—which gives options to play through the action from the movie of a chosen type, “Behind the Scenes”, “Vivid Girl Extras”, “Movie Gallery”—which plays through a slideshow of “pretty-girl” shots and stills from the production, “Vivid Previews”—which plays through related trailers, and “Vivid Products”—which plays through some advertisements—as options in the Main Menu. The “Behind the Scenes” featurette is about 30 minutes in length, and the “Vivid Girl Extras” puts forth a choice of five bonus scenes. The first is a girl-girl-girl, lez-fest involving Savanna Samson, Sammie Rhodes, and Hillary Scott (from “59 Seconds”); the second is a boy-girl sequence with Eva Angelina (from “All Dressed Up”); the third is a boy-girl encounter featuring Nikki Jayne (from “On the Couch”); the fourth is a boy-girl-girl segment involving Hanna Hilton and Meggan Mallone (from “Suck It”); and the fifth is another boy-girl-girl romp, this time with Sunny Leone and Ryder Skye (from “Undress Me”—Sunny is the only one who takes the dick in this one, however). This is a staggering amount of bonus materials.

All in all, this production is surprisingly excellent. Save a few minor flaws, it would have garnered the elusive five-star rating. Even as is, it is a highly recommendable endeavor featuring attractive performers in ultra-hot scenes. With a decent running length and a good deal of bonuses, there is plenty of bang for the buck, as well. This one is definitely worth a look.
