Initial Expectations: Naughty America has put out some very enjoyable scenes on DVDs that left a lot to be desired. I'm not expecting anything other than that here.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects hover around the average level. The audio is pretty clear, but the balance is sometimes a little uneven. The video is presented in the full frame format, and is noticeably weak. The lighting varies a little throughout the movie, but the bigger problem is some very noticeable pixelation throughout the movie that really cheapens the presentation.

Disc Complaints / Authoring Notes: The authoring is a bit funky, which doesn't seem to be anything too unusual with Naughty America. Rather than having the entire movie on a title that makes it easy for viewers to skip to where ever they choose in the movie, which is extremely nice if you get tired of a scene and just want to jump ahead randomly or if you're viewing the movie later and want to go to a specific point in the movie, each scene has its own title, similar to how some studios run their TV shows on DVD. Needless to say, this makes the DVD extremely hard to navigate. This style of authoring has thankfully gone the way of the dodo with most studios, but Naughty America and Homegrown seem to be sticking with it. Both studios are distributed by Pure Play (along with Hundies, who looks like they might have moved away from this style recently and who actually include unique extras on their releases) and neither studio seems to be willing to put any real effort into their extras. Seeing that lack of care in the same areas for two studios being distributed by the same company I can't help but think that the problem and lack of care lies with Pure Play Media more than anything, especially when I talked with Naughty America at Erotica LA and was told they were looking at ways to improve their overall DVD and that I'd be seeing some changes in a few months. I realize these things don't happen overnight, or that one won't even see the difference in a few weeks, but I was told that long before this DVD was produced. Combined with the downward slide of their video quality, I can't help but have the impression that they don't really care that much about the quality of their DVDs as long as a few people are willing to pay for them. I'm deducting a half point from the overall DVD for the poor authoring on this DVD.

Menus: The main menu works through a few clips from the movie for an okay first impression that seems a touch generic. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a still of the girl(s) in each scene along with their name(s). After you choose a scene you're given a second menu to let you choose where you want to go in the scene sexually.

The Feature

Seduced by a Cougar 4 is just what one should expect from Naughty America. There's some nice effort put into the setups for the scenes, and they almost always have a touch of playfulness to them. The sex is couples friendly, but not the insulting couples friendly of many studios where you feel like the action is being held back. Angelica Sin easily put out my favorite scene here, but Kayla Synz is right up there with her. At the other end of the spectrum, Michelle McLaren's scene just didn't do much for me as it felt a bit forced and fake, as well as her not doing anything for me physically. Seduced by a Cougar 4 is a fun little release with some nice chemistry. It's just too bad that Naughty America doesn't care enough about their products to put some effort into the rest of the DVD (namely the technical aspects, extras, and authoring).

Currently, most of Naughty America’s DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $27 with most stores offering them under $20. Aim a bit low here. The movie's pretty good, but the action was a little more hit or miss for me than usual. The technical aspects don't quite make it to the average mark due to plenty of pixelation in the video, and there's no effort put into the extras either. This could have been a nice release with a bit of effort, but instead it's one that might justify a rental.

Note to Naughty America: If you're going to put out bare bones DVDs without any effort, please put them out at a price low enough for stores to sell them at a price that would reflect that kind of product.
