The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good. The audio is clear and well balanced, and although there is a little background noise, Tom does his best to make it a part of the scene so that it doesn't hurt the movie. The video looks pretty good. It mixes in a little non-anamorphic widescreen and black and white footage for the interview openings in each scene, but the main sex is always in the full frame format. It's well lit regardless of the format, but there's a touch of grain that gives the movie a soft presentation that seemed just a little too soft.

Menus: The main menu is a bit generic, and gives you a clip from the movie blended into the boxcover photo. The chapter menu's okay, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene. It also lets you choose where you want to go in each scene sexually, but doesn't give you anything like who the performers are in each scene.

The Feature

Tom Byron keeps things pretty simple for his second installment of Seasoned Players. Each scene starts with him sitting back with the girl in the scene and chatting with her about things like her age. Seasoned Players 2 is a very hot MILF movie. I'll admit right away that if I knew a little more about this movie, I probably would have passed it by, but with Nina Hartley taking it in the ass along with Sara Jay and Friday along for the ride I couldn't pass it by. The deal breaker for me would have been that Tom Byron is the only male talent. I know that Tom's a true porn icon, but at his age even with how much he can bring out of his performers and partners I normally can't have too high of expectations, and even with top porn studs I always like a little variety towards the guys. Let me stop myself right there to say that I'm very happy that I didn't know this going in because Tom does a fantastic job throughout the movie. He does a great job setting the mood through the interviews and you can feel an ease between him and the ladies that's a welcome relief compared to the mood in most of today's pornos. Here the mood is laid back and all about enjoying the sex, and although that's pretty simple it rarely seems to be done as well as Tom does it here. That mood leads to great chemistry in every scene, and although certain scenes stand out for what they have (such as Nina Hartley and Monique taking it in the ass), the scenes are very consistent throughout the movie with none of them really standing out either good or bad quality-wise. If you're a fan of older women, Seasoned Players 2 deserves to be checked out.

The Extra Stuff

The slide show lasts almost two and a half minutes with about five seconds per okay looking shrunk down screen capture. Trailers are included for Seasoned Players, Lord of Asses 9, Lord of Asses 8, House of Ass 7, House of Ass 6, House of Ass 5, and Anytime Girls. Unfortunately there's no menu to let you choose a menu and they all have their own title so if you've already seen a movie it's not too easy to skip past it to the next trailer or to just choose trailers you're interested in. There's also cumshot recaps, internet information, and a behind the scenes featurette.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about three and a half minutes. Nina talks about being a freak and needing another happy freak in her life instead of a closet freak before posing for still photos and chatting about how in all the movies they've done together, Tommy has never fucked her ass. Monique talks about taking a break from porn for a few years and now being back. This is an okay little featurette. There's some nice eye candy, but it felt more like a tease than anything with how quick it was over.

Currently, many Tom Byron Pictures DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $25 with a few stores offering them near the low end. The technical aspects are pretty good and there's a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a nicely done DVD with plenty of heat.

Note to Tom Byron Pictures: A little more effort towards the behind the scenes would be very nice. It would also be nice to have a menu for the trailers so people can choose trailers for movies that interest them rather than wading through movies that either don't interest them or that they've already scene before. At the very least, please put them all on the same title in the DVD with each trailer getting its own chapter so viewers can easily maneuver their way through them.
