Scarlett Letter, A Review

We open on Ivy lounging in the bath when Scarlett enters clearly exasperated about her family. Scarlett is dealing with feelings of hurt and rejection after coming out. Her own sister is reluctant to make physical contact even in an innocent hug , acting repelled. Ivy understands and consoles Scarlett with a little humor. When Scarlett says it's like wearing a scarlet letter , Ivy quips that it would be an L for lesbian. Scarlett doesn't like the joke at first but Ivy tells her that in time they will be laughing together at the memory for all of its trivialness.

Scarlett asks if she can join Ivy in the tub and Ivy says of course. Scarlett's robe falls to the floor and she steps naked into the tub facing her girlfriend. The water is a vibrant blue ( presumably done with a nice bath bomb of some sort) Ivy tells Scarlett a story of how she was such an obvious lesbian even growing up. Scarlett envies Ivy's ease with her sexuality. Ivy pulls Scarlett closer so that she's laying her head back onto Ivy.

Ivy reminds Scarlett that being a known lesbian also carries its own issues and recalls how she was treated in college. Scarlett relaxes letter herself melt inti Ivy's easy embrace. Ivy caresses her love ringing out a luffa on her soft skin. Ivy nibbles Scarlett's ear and teases her stiffening nipples with light pinching. I love the camera angle down between Scarlett's legs as Ivy begins to rub her sex.

The camera slowly drifts up to a more top down view and centers on the two girls facial responses. They flirt and talk about how lucky they both are before turning to kiss each other. Scarlett rolls over so she's facing her love and kisses her harder. She moves to suck a tit which looks good and brings Ivy up to a sitting position to meet Scarlett's lips in more make out time.

Ivy takes the lead and lays Scarlett down in the other end of the tub licking and sucking her boobs one at a time. Scarlett mentions how she loves Ivy's tongue and Ivy offers to give her more of it. She picks her girlfriend up in her arms , kissing her and carries her out of the bath setting her down on a spa bench thing ( it's rather nice looking for bathroom furniture - though I don't know it there is a proper or more formal name for these it's like a half bench ). Immediately Ivy kisses pussy and licks it. The couple kiss some before Ivy eats Scarlett in earnest. I like the zoomed in tongue on pussy contact shot here. We also get a good look at Scarlett's eyes rolling back in her head.

Scarlett declares her love again for Ivy and they kiss more. Scarlett sits up straighter and Ivy straddles her leg. Scarlett rubs Ivy's sex and sucks a breast at the same time. The camera alternates between the shot of rubbing and the lovely eye contact between the ladies.

Scarlett lays Ivy down on the floor kissing her and then tops her for some grinding. This looks great. The natural sunlight coming through the windows lighting up Ivy and Scarlett's beautiful bodies and the way Ivy's back arches as she is fucked. combine for a heavenly visual. The two hold sexy determined stares at each other. Scarlett licks Ivy from between her legs to her chest.

Scarlett sighs and sits up saying that Ivy is all the family she needs. Ivy reassures her by nuzzling her nose in an Eskimo kiss. Ivy says that in a year none of this will matter much and then feeds Scarlett wetness from her fingers after getting a taste of her own. They exchange one last reciprocal I love you before the scene fades.

This is definitely a short scene for my personal taste clocking in at just 20 minutes. But even in that short span it impressed me in a way that perhaps no scene confined to a bathroom ever has.

The dialogue was limited but meaningful and helped to do a LOT of work towards good character building and relationship context. I've often been one who points out how bathtubs limit cameras in a bad way - and while that remains true there was also a real effort to give us unconventional vantages which I very much appreciate. Little details like the way Ivy carried Scarlett out of the tub were very cute and endearing too and remind us that characterization can be effective in even subtle acts on screen.

I loved the emphasis on kissing of course. It often had passionate urgency that I feel is only possible when really in the moment and the roles simultaneously. Simple plot conveyed with considerable skill.

This might be the only bathroom scene I will actually revisit. And that in and of itself says a lot about quality. The two pairings between Scarlett and Ivy I have reviewed for AHL thus far have been truly awesome. Even with the brevity of this encounter genuine feeling shone through. If you are in a time crunch this might be the perfect choice for bite sized enjoyment. But if you are a glutton , it's also short enough to watch twice.

Final Thoughts : I know that All Her Luv skews toward taboo plots of a darker nature but this is lovely romance through and through. I would lose my mind for features that were all about this kind of romantic love. Luxuriate in the small interactions between couples and I will be there in a heartbeat.
