Sauna the Dead: A Fairy Tale is a short movie from writer and director Tom Frederic that was shot in London at Chariots Vauxhall, the largest gay sauna in Europe. Sauna the Dead tells the story of Jacob (Tom Frederic) who is forced to team up with Aseem (Kumar Muniandy), a man he rejected earlier, to survive after a zombie outbreak occurs in the gay bathhouse he is in.

Sauna the Dead manages to do a lot in the short run time that it possesses. Not only does Sauna the Dead tell the story of Jacob and Aseem attempting to escape the bathhouse with their lives but it also delves into the superficiality of one hooking up at a sauna just based off of initial looks of a person without getting to know them. Sauna the Dead does a great job of presenting both aspects to the viewer.

Sauna the Dead is also one of the few movies within the horror genre that manages to cause the viewer to leave the movie with a heartwarming feeling. Needless to say, Sauna the Dead is incredibly well written. Sauna the Dead doesn't contain any nudity or sex, which is a good thing since any would have detracted from what the movie is trying to do. The acting in the short movie is top notch and everyone does a great job with their roles.

Sauna the Dead is an aesthetically beautiful short movie. Chariots Vauxhall serves as a great location for the movie and the lighting in the movie is excellent. Beatriz Delgado Mena, the cinematographer, beautifully captures the movie making for a very pleasant viewing experience.

Despite being a short movie, Sauna the Dead is well crafted with some excellent acting and a real point behind it. Sauna the Dead is a must see for straight and gay audiences who want to see a heartwarming horror short.

The edition screened of Sauna the Dead: A Fairy Tale is the streaming only version available from NakedSword. NakedSword Film Works has done a great job with their streaming only release of Sauna the Dead. Sauna the Dead was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1 in 1080p. The picture quality of the short movie is astounding with rich texture, rich and beautiful color reproduction, and an absolutely flawless image.

Sauna the Dead is presented with an English Stereo audio track which sounds absolutely beautiful. The dialog in the movie is clear and easy to understand at all times. The sound has a great dynamic range and sounds well balanced.

Sauna the Dead doesn't contain any nudity or sex, however, it is an absolutely wonderful short movie about gay hook-ups set within the horror genre. All fans of feature films, be they gay or straight, should enjoy this short movie.
