Rubber Ponies Review

What I Liked
Rubber Ponies (2002) is a high quality femdom fetish video from GwenMedia, distributed by Bizarre Video, the first of Amanda Wildefyre’s Rubber Slaves series, directed by Robert Zak. It is an original, creative production into the exciting world of equestrian play, with unique domination scenarios. Amanda Wildefyre is a practicing dominatrix from Minneapolis, Minnesota and this was shot at her dungeon. She subjects rubber slave to various “cruel and unusual” pony training exercises in preparation for a ride in the park with Mistress Jean and pony boy charger. These include treadmill training with light flogging and a nose hook, nipple clamps, and CBT torture to keep him up to speed; pleasuring his suspended Mistress with a slave hood; and finally, testicular electroshock torture! Of course, she finally gets to ride her disciplined pony. Her performance is appropriately theatrical, and her dialogue is explanatory, puncuated with a wicked, sadistic laugh. Rubber slave is mostly silent, except when he is forced to whinnie like a pony. The expensive costumes, by Whiplash, are top-notch and include leather pony hoods, hooves, and bridles, rubber masks with dildo attachments, shiny latex catsuits, and high-tech BDSM equipment from JT’s stockroom. The costumes build in layered intensity until rubber slave resembles a galloping leather pony!

What I Disliked
Rubber Ponies contains no female nudity, nor do we see Mistress Wildefyre’s face until the last act (which is a shame because she is quite striking), although rubber slave must humble himself before the Mistress by exposing his bare buttocks and genitals. Occasionally, the real-time quality of the scene is interrupted by a slow-motion colorized sequence. While artfully done, this distracts from the overall impact of the scene.

DVD Quality
The quality, as with all GwenMedia films, is first rate. The camerawork, by Jon White is excellent and all-encompassing, and the music, by Glitterpimp, suits the strange scenario. Unfortunately, the extras are limited to random trailers and website advertising, though the GwenMedia preview is good.

Overall Thoughts
While this is a feast for the eyes, a great deal of one’s erotic enjoyment depends on one’s appreciation of the voice of Mistress Wildefyre. The aural aspect of porn is something that needs to be explored more, I think. Fetish enthusiasts will appreciate the high quality costumes and gear, and BDSM lovers will appreciate the casual, cavalier domination by an unrelenting Mistress. More specifically, this video is geared towards a sophisticated audience who can appreciate riding play, something that also needs to be explored more in porn. Overall, this is a success, as evidenced by the appearance of a sequel, Rubber Ponies 2 (2003).
