The Abridged Version: Last year, Wicked Pictures released Road Trixxx 1. On the surface, it just looked like their cheap imitation of a Shanes World video, what with the concept being that Devinn Lane and 5 or 6 porn stars piled into a van and just went out on a road trip. However, closer examination revealed that what they had produced was in fact an absolutely stellar piece of porn. It clocked in at over 2 hours long and alternated between some really fun, candid moments to some fun yet equally intense sex. To my mind, it was one of the best non-plot pornos released in 2004. As such, I had high hopes for Road Trixxx 2. Unfortunately, Devinn made some critical errors in her cast selection this time which, combined with the films relatively short running time, makes this seem merely like a light version of Road Trixxx 1. Aria and Becca Bratt fail to provide the same energy that Nicole Sheridan, Ashley Long, and Alana Evans did in the first one. On top of that, Jack Spade and Tommy Gunn are laughable as replacements for Evan Stone and Voodoo. How the hell AVN seriously thought that Gunn was this past year’s Best Male Newcomer is beyond me. Devinn is gold as usual, working a good threeway with Aria and Lee Stone and doing her best to coax a good performance from Gunn. She looks particularly hot in her outdoor tryst with Tommy, in which she wears a simple red tank top that just drove me fucking crazy. So, I do not think that Devinn Lane fans will be all that disappointed. However, what looked like a truly promising new series for Ms. Lane has taken a bad second step. I still really enjoy the concept and tone (it is damn hot seeing girls in hiking boots getting fucked) of the series though and I hope there are more volumes on the way. Volume 1 was fun and hot. Volume 2 is simply fun. Is that really a bad thing? It is when you’ve shown yourself capable of much more.

Scene 1: Devinn Lane (one of my all-time favorites) and Aria (slightly muscular, brunette w/blonde highlights, implants) w/Lee Stone (11 minutes)

After being introduced to the cast and treated to a short montage of them on the road, we watch as Devinn leads us on a rather entertaining tour of the rooms they are all staying in. Once that is dealt with, the gang goes on a hike to some rocks that Devinn claims to have had sex on many times. They all stop to take in a rather beautiful sunset before heading home. This takes us into the end of night 1 (it is to be a 3 day trip). Before going to bed though, Devinn, in cute pigtails, and Aria decide to team up on Lee. Completely nude and in a bathtub filled with shallow water, the two women fall to their knees and await Lee. Mr. Stone and Aria are, of course, a couple, apparently referred to as “the newlyweds” by the rest of the cast on this trip. However, this is to be Devinn’s first time working with Lee. He walks in and the girls go right to sucking dick. In a comedic moment, he quickly steps into the tub and turns his back to his “wife” so that Devinn can have his cock all to herself for a minute or two. Aria just laughs. Wrap-Up: The group does some more sight seeing, heading to Joshua Tree National Park where they do some photo shoots. This includes some rather hot posing by Devinn. There is a cute sequence with a coyote. Then they pick up a stranger (not really, he’s one of the camera guys) on the side of the road, which either leads into the sequel or ends the series altogether.

The DVD: This DVD is protected by MacroVision. As is usual with Wicked, this DVD comes loaded with special features. However, lately it seems as if these special features for Wicked are meant to mask the shortcomings of the actual film in question as opposed to complimenting it.

Final Thought/Observation: Clearly thinking of a way to show passage of time on film, Devinn and her camera man include numerous shots of sunsets in this film. In fact, most of the time they cut between the setting sun to someone from the cast watching the setting sun. I enjoyed this because it came off as such a peaceful moment each time. However, there is also quite a bit of the girls posing for pictures on rocks, obviously utilizing their time on the trip for website content or content for this features' DVD extras. I wish there had been maybe a tad bit less of this. I enjoyed it because, well, how can I not enjoy watching Devinn topless, regardless of whatever she is doing. However, it does not really fit in with the tone of the film, where everything is supposed to be slightly spontaneous and fun. This photo shoot stuff takes the place of sex, which there is just not enough of in this film. On top of that, what sex we do get is somewhat underwhelming. Then again, perhaps I am being too hard on it, as it turns out that Devinn was ill during filming and Becca struggled with all of the hiking in nature which probably wore her out and ruined her for the sex scenes.
