The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Digital Playground's Scream series has been a lot of fun. I can't help but look forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: It's definitely above average, but it also doesn't get too close to the bar set by the earlier installments of the series.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a little effort put into the openings and nice chemistry with plenty of variety in the scenes

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a lot of nastier sex

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very well done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks great. There are a few minor shadows, but the lighting is very well done and the camera work is smooth. This is a very nice looking and sounding movie.

Music: There's a little creepy music in the background during some of the setups that does a great job in helping with the mood of the scenes. The sex, however, is music-free.

Menus: The main menu works through a small clip from the movie before settling in on a bit of the cover, a bit of the movie, and a little minor animation for a pretty good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on several clips from each scene, the name(s) of the girl(s) in it for the first chapter, and chapter numbers that don't correspond to the chapter numbers in the movie.

The Feature

Do you like scary movies? How about if there's a lot of sex in them? Digital Playground takes a few notes from horror movies lets them lead into the sex scenes with contract girl Riley Steele leading the way this time around.

When hot dirty blonde Riley and brunette Stoya run out of been and popcorn, they try sending Stoya's boyfriend for more as well as adding a pizza to the list. He tries whining his way out of it wondering if a serial killer or monster might get him, but ends up going anyway. When Stoya goes to the bathroom and the windows start rattling Riley starts to get freaked, especially when Erik tells her that cars were being searched due to an escaped metal patient. Erik works it into a joke to get the action started and it cuts to him eating Riley's pussy as Riley sucks Stoya's tits and plays with her pussy. Stoya gets in the middle to eat Riley as Erik moves over to eat her from behind before teaming up with Riley to suck Erik's cock. They continue to work the oral all around until Riley gets up for the first fuck cowgirl style as Stoya watches and urges them on. This is a darn hot scene, and easily my favorite in the movie. The opening scare sequence left a bit to be desired, but the chemistry all around the group was nothing short of fantastic. It was obvious that everybody involved was having a fantastic time, and the girls seemed to enjoy watching each other get fucked and playing with each other every bit as much as getting fucked themselves. The scene moves at a nice pace with very well done lighting that's just a little lower than normal and editing and camera work with a slight artistic flair. I've really liked the other installments I've seen from Digital Playground's Scream series, and this scene easily met those high expectations.

Ben shares a scary story about a husband dealing with a cheating wife's lover and his wife with uneasy bottle blonde Madison as she takes a bath before helping her out and to the bed. He brings her a pair of black and white heels for her to put on before kissing and groping her. Ben plays with Madison's pussy as she pulls his cock out to suck and stroke and then lets her get up to ride him cowgirl style. Madison mixes in plenty more cocksucking as she turns around to ride him reverse cowgirl style and even slides her leg behind her head as Ben spoons her. This is a pretty good scene. The “scary story” part of the scene works very well, and does so with some very nice subtlety. The sex is also nicely done, with Madison taking one heck of a good pounding while mixing in some nice oral. She should please fans who like watching a good submissive fuck, and although I prefer more dominant women there was something about Madison that worked well for me also. Madison and Ben turn out an all around nice scene, but the “scary story” parts of the scene really stole the show for me here.

Babysitter Riley, in a little white skirt, blue tank, and blue heels, finds a stuffed teddy bear on the floor before walking into the next room and answering the phone. As she talks on the phone with the mother and asks about covering up the creepy clown statue on the couch, Evan comes to life to shush her. She can't figure out why the dad is dressed up as a clown since fucking the babysitter in his house should be enough, but Evan still has to spice things up and quickly bends her over to worship her ass. He continues to play with her body before having her go right to riding him cowgirl style and then flipping her over to fuck her missionary style. They mix in a little oral action for each of them with the missionary fucking before Evan gets on top for more of a reverse missionary. Riley sucks him a little more before he takes her from behind and has her ride him reverse cowgirl style. She continues to mix in plenty of oral action for Evan and lets him fuck her doggie style a little more before finishing things with an eager facial and sucking the last bit out.

This is another pretty hot scene. I'm sure the clown thing will be more than a little creepy for many people, and Evan plays it up to be all the creepier. Riley does her part to make it hot putting out an energetic and eager fuck, and even makes it a bit fun with the babysitter aspect. The action moves along very nicely and is every bit as well captured as one would expect, and leaves this a scene that's a bit creepy as well as pretty hot. This scene works into the overall feel and framework of the series very nicely.

Brunette Kelly repeats “Bloody Mary” into the mirror a few times, and after her eyes glow red and she starts to change, Danny comes in to tell her to stop making such a racket. He knows a much better way she can put her mouth to use, and Kelly happily drops down to start sucking and stroking his cock while mixing in plenty of great eyes. Danny bends her over the counter to worship her ass in return with plenty of tongue action before standing up and fucking her pussy from behind. They move to the bedroom for a little more oral action before Danny spoons Kelly's pussy and then fucks her big booty from behind. This is a pretty good scene. The opening isn't too bad and the sex is nicely done. Danny does a great job worshiping Kelly's ass as well as fucking it, and the scene moves along at a nice pace. The only complaint I can really have here is about some of the camera work and editing. Some of the camera work gets way too close, which ends up killing the ass to mouth aspect of the scene because when Danny pulls out and Kelly moves around the camera is so close that you lose the cock for a few seconds off the side of the screen. There were also a few distracting close-ups of Danny's face but very few that showed both of their faces at the same time. This is a decent scene, but with a few minor changes it could have been even better.

Riley challenges brunette Carmen and bottle blonde Alexis to scare her with a story but gets the table turned on her when Ben sneaks up behind her and scares her instead. They quickly move to the bed where they worship each other's bodies while kissing all around before Carmen starts to suck and stroke Ben while Alexis eats Riley. The girls quickly all turn their attention to pleasuring Ben orally before Carmen breaks off to eat Alexis and Ben starts fucking Riley doggie style. She Riley also rides Ben reverse cowgirl style before Alexis takes her turn with a cowgirl ride as the other sixty-nine. Alexis gets the final fuck missionary style before Ben pops his load between all three eager faces and lets them suck out the last bit.

This is a pretty good final scene. There's great chemistry all around the scene, and the entire cast looks like it's having a lot of fun. The scene also works well due to everybody seeming to be nicely into everybody else. That said, there were a couple things that didn't work as well for me about the scene. First is that the camera work once again got overly close so that you could never see all of what was going on around the bed. The other problem was that the scene stayed with rotating couples around the bed rather than letting the girls play with whoever was getting fucked by Ben. All that said, this is still a group scene that ends up well above the average mark, but also one that felt like it had more potential than what was harnessed here.

Riley Steele Scream is a pretty good fuck flick, but also the weakest entry in the series. It starts out very strong in every way with Riley's opening scene with Stoya and Erik, and then seems to taper off as the movie goes on. The scary movie openings almost seem to fall aside like they're too big of a burden to deal with rather than the thing that helps to make this series so enjoyable and to feel unique. It's also held back by a lot of camera work that gets so close you start to miss out on the action as well as the need to cut to close-ups on the guy's faces. I don't mind seeing the guy's face once in a while, especially if you get to see the girl's face at the same time with the chemistry building and flowing between them, but just cutting to the guy's face is well regarded as a wood killer for many a porn viewer. Riley Steele Scream is far from a bad movie, but with how good the rest of Digital Playground's Scream series was the bar was set pretty high and it just didn't clear it.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery can be viewed either manually or as a slide show lasting a little under four and a half minutes with about six seconds per very nice looking snapshot or full screen photo. Trailers are included for Pirates 2, Island Fever 4, Cheerleaders, Jack’s Asian Adventure 2, Katsuni: Sexual Freak 10, Nurses, Pirates, and Stoya: Sexy Hot. There's also weblinks, a behind the scenes featurette, and cumshot recaps.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about ten minutes. Riley starts out showing off for the camera before being the victim of a little BTS fun. She talks about not getting nervous, her plans for porn, and always wanting to get into porn before a little Evan Stone clown fun. Kelly is next, who chats as the crew admires her body followed by Madison who provides plenty of eye candy as she chats. After the crew battle you never thought you'd see, and never really wanted to either, there's plenty more eye candy with the girls. This is a pretty good featurette. You get plenty of Riley Steele, which is nice with her being the main attraction for the movie, as well as plenty of fun and eye candy around the set. Perhaps the biggest surprise is how little of Stoya there is here with how popular and full of personality she is, but you do get a little from each of the girls in the movie as well as plenty of the humor one's come to expect and look forward to from Evan Stone. This is a nice behind the scenes featurette that added nicely to the overall DVD.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. Aim a bit low here. The movie isn't bad, but it also isn't up to the same level as the rest of the series. The technical aspects are pretty good, but the camera often gets a little close and some of the editing was a bit choppy. The extras are nicely done with a very enjoyable behind the scenes featurette. This is a nicely done DVD that felt like it didn't quite make the full use of the potential it had.

Note to Digital Playground: Although this installment didn't work as well for me as the rest of the series, I hope this isn't the last we see of the Scream series.
