Initial Expectations: Riley Steele has been dang hot and I've been a fan of Celeste's movies for a long time. I'm looking forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: It's well done, but didn't always work the best for me.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very well done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is very well presented in anamorphic widescreen, and shows plenty of care. There's a dull look to the feature that fits its mood extremely well, as well as a touch of grain that gives it a touch of style. The camera work is nicely handled and it all works together to give the movie a very nice presentation with a bit of style.

Music: The music is very well done. It's very limited throughout the movie, but helps to give the entire feature a very melancholy feeling with some sexy jazz.

Menus: The main menu blends a bit of the boxcover with a few small clips form the movie for a simple but classy first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on several clips from each scene, as well as the name of the girl in it for the first chapter in each scene.

The Feature

Scott had a dream for himself, that he would be a great man to be reckoned with, but he also knows that we're all just a bunch of approval junkies wanting others to be impressed by us. Scott himself isn't that impressive, as he can't get over his ex Allyssa or even keep the names straight between the women he bangs around the country. When he meets Riley, however, things look like they might turn around for him.

After calling bottle blonde Nicole the wrong name, he quickly works his way around it worshiping her half-dressed body and moving in to kiss her shaved pussy. This is another nicely done scene.

This is a good scene, but it just barely made it to that level for me and wasn't there that solidly.

Riley saves Scott from getting fired by agreeing to get it on with Evan. She teases him a little, and when she comes in for a kiss instead he gives her a few slaps and lets her know that she's his whore because of how much money Scott owes him. This is a pretty hot scene. I really like the rougher feel it starts with, and Riley seems to completely get into it. She meets Evan head-on throughout the scene, and takes everything he puts out while looking like she can take even more. The only thing that really holds the scene back is that towards the end of the scene the editing gets very choppy between positions, almost like some of the footage was tagged on at the last moment to make the movie last longer. Riley turns out a very impressive fuck, but this scene also felt like it had the potential to be a little better.

Riley changes into a black bra and panties before coming out to kiss Scott on the bed and suck his cock. Scott keeps up with her quite well through the scene, and after some of the build up to the scene it didn't fall too short. Riley and Scott bring the movie to a nice close.

Riley Steele Honey is a bit of a different adult movie. It falls into the light feature category that Digital Playground's been doing a very nice job with lately, and it has a melancholy mood that leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, a sad and slightly depressed mood never seems to work that well for me to get in the mood for some hot sex. On the other hand, it does lead into a more desperate feeling that works well for the hard, pounding fucks Riley puts out. Those going in looking forward to seeing Riley in action won't be disappointed, as she turns out three very nicely done scenes with plenty of energy and vocals, and Nicole Ray and Allyssa Hall also turn out a nice scene each. The only real complaint I can have about the sex is that it's all a bit too similar for my tastes. Although the mood changes nicely from scene to scene, the action never does that much with each of them being vaginal boy – girl scenes. There's no anal, no lesbian, and no group action, and with every girl in the movie being a bottle blonde who goes about halfway there the girls all look fairly similar as well. I'd say that the only real variety in the scenes seems to come with some of the outfits, which show some nice care, except that Riley has the same sexy stockings on for all three of her scenes. The final problem with Riley Steele Honey is that it doesn't even last an hour and a half. Yes, there are five scenes with three Riley Steele scenes, but there are times when the scenes feel like they could have lasted a little longer as well as one where the scene felt like it was stretched out at the last minute in the editing bay. Riley Steele Honey comes off as a fairly unique lighter feature due to its style and mood, but it could have really used a bit more sexual variety, length, and depth. On their own the sex scenes are nice, but the movie as a whole just doesn't come together enough to be overly memorable.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery can be viewed either manually or as a slide show lasting about a little over two minutes with about five seconds per very nice looking snapshot or full screen photo. Trailers are included for Pirates 2, Island Fever 4, Nurses, Cheerleaders, Jack’s Asian Adventure 2, Jack’s P.O.V. 8, Pirates, and Stoya: Sexy Hot. There's also weblinks, a behind the scenes featurette, and cumshot recaps.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts just over nine minutes. After a bit of eye candy and watching Riley get ready, the camera moves around the set to watch her get it on with Mick. There's a few words with Mick and Riley as well before watching Evan and Scott prepare. You also get to see Scott have multiple retakes for a scene before getting busy with Riley. There's also a bit of Nicole posing for stills with Scott and killing time between scenes. This is an okay featurette. The focus is on showing the scenes being shot and photo shoots more than anything, and you don't get much of the humor or personality that normally makes a Digital Playground BTS so fun. This featurette doesn't add much to the overall DVD.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. Rent this one before you spend the big bucks. The movie is short with a very different feeling that I'm not sure is going to lend itself towards a lot of replay value even though there is some hot sex. The technical aspects are nicely done and the extras are above average due to an okay behind the scenes featurette. This is an okay release.

Note to Digital Playground: It's easy to see why you brought Riley Steele on. I have a feeling you're going to hear testicles explode across the world if there's ever an announcement for her first anal scene...
