Red Hot Pokers Review

The good news is that the film contains a litter of adorable Europups and authentic settings.
The bad news is that the sex is mediocre and that the direction and editing are a disaster.

We begin with Devon Davis, young and handsome with a nice body, pounding a piece of red hot metal when Johnny Saint, a kid with unruly hair and slight acne, enters the forge and comes on to him. Before you can say show me your dick, Devon’s pants are at his ankles and Johnny is running his big uncut cock up Devon’s asscrack. Johnny kisses Devon’s ass and we cut abruptly to them doing the old in-out-in-out. (Come on, director Éclair show us the entry…. He never does!) Johnny withdraws and removes the condom and Devon kneels to suck cock. His own is as stiff as the metal he was working on. (For the first time in this scene mine was, too) Devon stands and it’s Johnny’s turn to kneel and suck. It no time at all Devon shoots in his mouth and Johnny cums on the floor. It was a pretty good scene. Unfortunately none of the others come up to its level.

Outside the forge four guys are finishing lunch. They are Adam Kubrick, a cute tousled-haired blond who is the main star of these films; Peter Ther, a dark-haired cutie with a nice build; Aston Marten (yeah, I know) a curly haired youth who has shaved his pubes for this one; and Gareth Bates, an average looker with straight black hair and a love of denim. Martin Hoffman, older than the others and obviously their boss, tells them that lunch is over. (It’s time for dessert.) All go inside except for Aston and Gareth.

Inside Martin is kissing Peter and grabbing his yummies through his trousers. Soon Martin is sucking Peter’s peter.
ABRUPTLY CUT TO: Outdoors where Gareth is persuading Aston to give him head. Aston goes down.
ABRUPTLY CUT TO: Inside where a naked Martin is lying back on a table and Peter is licking his cock and balls.
ABRUPTLY CUT TO: Adam seen working in another part of the building.
ABRUPTLY CUT TO: Gareth and Aston going indoors for Gareth to go down on Aston.
ABRUPTLY CUT TO: Adam having joined in to fuck Martin who is sucking Peter.
ABRUPTLY CUT TO: Gareth fucking Aston.

And so it goes. Never again will we see any sex scene (except the unwatchable final) without cross-cutting. Now Cross-cutting is great in a Western where the cavalry is rushing to save the wagon train, but in a fuck film it is an unmitigated disaster! As soon as one gets turned on by a scene we are whisked away to something else. Perhaps this was an attempt to cover up the fact that the sex was lukewarm. If so, it only made it colder.

After this, Michael finds his workers comparing cocks and sends everyone out except for young Kurt Bannerman. Kurt is one sexy kid: unkempt blond hair, a pierced eyebrow and tongue, no pubic hair! He also knows how to suck dick better than anyone else in this film. I’m starting to get turned on and then…
ABRUPTLY CUT TO: Adam with Devon.

Once again we are frustrated by a constant switching back and forth between two scenes. In one Devon fucks Adam. In the other Martin fucks Kurt who turns to sucking Aston who has joined them. In addition to the continuous cutting back and forth the camera angles are repeated monotonously in each scene.

For the finale, the worst is yet to come. Adam dreams of a sexual encounter with one of his co-workers. I think it’s Johnny, but it could be Gareth. You see the entire thing—and it’s blissfully short—is shot with a blue lens on the camera making it difficult to see much of anything. It’s a feeble conclusion to a film that leaves much to be desired.

There are great extras, but I was saddened to see that in the out-takes section most of the guys were using pictures of naked women to get their hard ones. Talk about destroying a fantasy!

I was very taken with this studio's SKI TRIP featuring some of the same young performers. This made it doubly disappointing to find this one so inferior. Of course RED HOT POKER was an earlier effort and one assumes that everyone learned from their mistakes on this one. I truly hope so!
