Initial Expectations: I’ve really liked what I’ve seen so far from Shot at Home, so I’m going in with high expectations.

Initial Reaction: It bounces around the rim a little, but Shot at Home still shoots and scores again!

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting something different for porn but with some real feelings

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting top notch technical aspects or nasty sex

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is pretty well balanced, but you still hear background noises like the still camera advancing the film and a few directions from the cameraman. There are also areas where the audio completely disappears. The video is similar. There’s some grain, which varies from scene to scene. The lighting is normally pretty good, but there are a few areas where shadows overtake it or where it flickers a little. There’s also some camera shake and other minor problems, such as the aspect ratio seeming a little off at times and a few times where the video breaks into thick bars with some of them freezing and some continuing to show the action. All in all, it looks and sounds about like a home movie. This kind of feel normally doesn’t do anything for me, but here it fits the movie exceptionally well. It gives it a basic and amateur feel, while not being so bad that it interferes with the movie. Whoever is behind the camera here seems to know what they’re doing, and it helps the movie feel like an amateur movie rather than crap.

Music: Kind of none. I say kind of because there isn’t any music added afterwards. There is music playing during the first scene which sounds like it’s being played in the room so that there’s music for the scene. It gives things a slightly odd feeling, but definitely helps things go towards the amateur style.

Disc Problems / Complaints: There’s a watermark for ShotAtHome.com in the lower right corner. Although I don’t care for watermarks, it’s very well done here. It’s very small, doesn’t move its location much, and doesn’t flip on and off, which makes it very easy to tune out.

Menus: The menus are very basic. The main menu is unanimated and the chapter menu lets you jump to one of six places in the movie based on stills of those scenes.

The Feature: Real Couples’ Screen Tests Vol. 1 gives you just that. There’s two scenes, each of which features a couple who are obviously together rather than just meeting in the bathroom on the way to the shoot. There’s no real introduction to the scenes, as they get right to it.

Louise, a cute blonde, starts things out dancing for the camera in a white shirt and pair of black vinyl pants. She shows some moves that makes me almost certain that she’s a stripper before her bald beaver ever sees the light of day. She diddles herself lightly before helping Dave the cameraguy out of his pants and sucking his schlong. They trade a few more oral favors before Louise climbs onto Dave’s cock for a cowgirl ride. Dave also fucks her from behind before giving her a little pop on her pussy because he can’t hold back any more. Dave doesn’t leave Louise hanging, however, and works on her a bit with a dildo before things cut to their fag break. Luckily, this appears to be a British series which means that they’re having a smoke while Louise plays with Dave a little so she can get a little more.

Louise and Dave move into the bathroom next, where they try a little synchronous peeing, where Louise goes all over the place and even hits the camera. She’s trying to get Dave’s cock, and finally gives it a good drenching. Afterwards, they clean up and head back out for Dave to work on both of Louise’s holes with a pair of toys. He fucks each of her holes before giving her a technical DP with the help of the larger dildo. Finally, Dave pops on and in Louise’s ass before they joke around a little. It’s a surprisingly hot scene, especially after how much they showed Dave having problems. Not surprisingly, there’s a lot of smiling and some nice energy here, and Dave even manages a good pop. It’s a very good scene.

Lara, who’s also included in Shot at Home’s great Lost Footage Vol. 1, gets it on with her anorexic and nearly bald boyfriend Tab in the second half of the feature. Lara starts out diddling herself a little, sucking on the heel of her shoe, and even sucking on a little cock-shaped sucker before getting it on with Tab. They kiss and work each other over orally before Tab fucks Lara from behind, and then go back for a little more oral action. They get serious and fuck for a little bit before they take a break for a little more oral play and for Tab and the cameraman to play with Lara’s ass a little. Lara kicks things up a notch by masturbating with the spike heel on her shoe, and even lets Tab work it in and out of her snatch a little before going back to fucking. They break things up again with a footjob, a blowjob, and a little more fucking before Lara takes a tight-lipped facial. I’m really torn on this scene. The first half of it had me so bored I couldn’t hold back from hitting the fast forward button for a few minutes. The second half, however, had me so enthralled that I was almost tempted to watch the first half again. Lara has an obvious love of sex and having people watch her have sex, and several times reminded me of Kelly Stafford, in both the good and bad way. She craves the attention, and at times I felt like she’d do anything to hold it, which turns me off a little. I couldn’t help but get drawn in watching Lara, and in the end, I can’t help but like this scene as well.

Real Couples’ Screen Tests Vol. 1 is another winner from Shot at Home. As with the rest of this series, the chemistry is what makes the series work. There’s plenty of things to hold it back, such as pixelation, camera shake, bad lighting, and even bad camera angles, but they can’t hold back the chemistry. In both scenes it’s obvious that the couple is a real life couple who really loves fucking each other. They also appear to love being watched, which is great, because when the sex is as obviously fun as it is in Real Couples’ Screen Tests Vol. 1, I love to watch it and want to see more!

Extras: Previews are included from many of Shot At Home’s releases, as well as a nice little talk about the start of Shot at Home on video. There’s almost a half hour of extra action here, with each feature getting about three minutes worth of action. It’s a great extra with how many movies Shot At Home have released (at this time, there’s over sixty available), and my only complaint is that each movie doesn’t get its own chapter so that if you want to skip past a movie that doesn’t interest you, you can move onto the next one.

Overall: Currently, the Shot At Home line available exclusively at Adult DVD Empire for about $20 each. Although this seems slightly high for what you get here, I can’t recommend not giving this feature, or anything else from Shot at Home for that matter, a chance. Yes, there’s a few technical problems, but the sex is also hot and realistic in a very good way. There’s even some extras that give you an okay idea of what else Shot at Home has to offer.

Note to Shot at Home: It’s great to see such consistency in your scenes! It would be great if rather than the short snippet of scenes you give as an extra if you’d give a full extra scene.
