Audio /Video Quality:
As usual with this series, the technical aspects are a little on the weak side. The audio is well balanced and pretty clear, but there are a few background noises that never interfere too much and sometimes even add to the scene. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks good for the rough style of the movie. There's a few shadows and some camera motion, which is to be expected here, but the picture is clear.
Watermark Warning:
Although I don't know of anyone who likes to see watermarks, I can't blame any studio who tries to protect their product from the rampant piracy that's sadly happening. This release has a small and very tasteful Evil Angel watermark in the lower right hand corner, that's one of the better watermarks I've seen. It's very light and easy to put out of one's mind. If watermarks are a necessary evil, I wish they could be done as well as Evil Angel does it here.
The Movie:
With his Raw series, Manuel Ferrara goes with more of a homemade style. The camera is often left on a tripod or other firm surface for the action while also mixing in plenty of POV shots. Raw 23 is a smoking hot addition to what's been one of the best gonzo series around for the last several years. Yes, the style is a bit rough, or “raw”, but it works very well for the series. Raw has a guerrilla feel similar to a lot of homemade porn, and that really works well for me. There's no shortage of chemistry in any of the scenes, and with how long they are I wouldn't be surprised if it took most viewers at least four sittings to get through the four scenes here (six or seven might be more realistic). Megan Rain starts things out on a very high note with a great anal scene, and things don't slow down at all with Ryan Conner as she returns to the jizz biz after a little time away without missing a beat. The more dominant feeling of Kendall's scene also worked very well for me, but Kayden's smoking blowjob scene was probably the highlight for me. She and Manuel make this one a lot of fun with their bet, and Manuel captures it every bit as well as Kayden plays it. This is quite possibly the best one-on-one oral sex scene I saw come out of 2015, and is easily in the running for the best oral scenes of the year period. Raw 23 is one of the hottest movies to come out of 2015 and definitely worth the purchase.
