Raven (Vivid) Review

Raven is a more recent offering from the new look Vivid. In fact, when I saw the box cover I didn’t even realise it was a Vivid film. The studio has also implemented other presentational changes. One thing that struck me right away were the revitalised extras, which still aren’t anything spectacular (decent photo gallery, too few trailers, unrelated sex scenes, extra cast clips as well as a “Vivid Girl facials” segment) but are welcome relief to the previous arrangement. Hopefully Vivid are taking consumer input onboard.

The sex in the film also seemed slightly harder than in past Vivid features. I’m not sure if that increases or decreases couples appeal, but Raven has a marginally less vanilla flavour than I expected. Also worth noting is that the scenes aren’t disrupted by the new angle indicator, which has shrunk considerably and appears only briefly. Very minor changes at this point but I think we can expect to see a shift in Vivid’s product over time.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the plot. Raven is a hackneyed story about a sexually-starved woman with an unloving husband, who finds pleasure in an anything-goes bar. That’s a poor effort (or lack of) even for Vivid. Cheyenne Silver plays the lead role but doesn’t carry the part or the sex scenes noticeably and seems an odd choice for leading lady. With the exception of the fourth scene the male talent was reasonably good-looking.

The movie suffers from slightly grainy image and is a mere 77 minutes – two big problems that just shouldn’t occur on any DVD. However, despite these problems I liked Raven overall. It isn’t a particularly revolutionary offering from Vivid but it does have a few decent moments and is in some ways a relief from harder, anal-heavy stuff. The film could have definitely used another scene, preferably with Logan, but was pretty good on the whole.

Blonde, natural-breasted Dru is first up. Her guy eats her out before she goes down on him and shows slight nastiness. The sex was ok with quite a lot of genital close-ups, culminating in a weak oral cumshot after a couple of positions. Dru gives some good PC head and impressed me with her performance.

Sexy Logan has long dyed black hair, hefty implants and a healthy body. She blows Dillon and Lee on a couch; the following two-on-one sex has a lot of oral but is otherwise fairly standard. The guys decorate her enormous tits. An understated but warm scene thanks to Logan and the considerable amount of oral.

Cheyenne has a plain face but a sexy body with nice long legs. Her implants are a good size too (not overdone). She’s not the most energetic performer (at least not in this title) and this scene didn’t work as well as the last two, as she was simply pounded by the guy and there was an absence of heat. At one stage, he pulls out and tries to reinsert in her ass ... accidents happen I suppose. He squirts on her cute tits to end this unremarkable scene.

Cheyenne blows the three guys until they cum on her tits. Not a scene I would expect to see in a Vivid film and it isn’t a particularly good inclusion either. The guys are ugly and Cheyenne’s oral skills aren’t especially noteworthy. However, some nice shower footage of Cheyenne follows.

Cheyenne is sprung by her husband, Pat Myne, while sucking Bobby Vitale’s cock. The scene splits into Cheyenne with Pat and Felicia, an ordinary brunette, with Bobby. Cheyenne and Pat go through a fair amount of oral while Felicia rides Bobby. The action with Bobby and Felicia was boring and lacked any semblance of heat, while for story reasons – if nothing else – Cheyenne and Pat should have been the focus. However, they have very little sex before Pat pulls out and cums on Cheyenne’s body.

The last three scenes end the movie on a slightly lower note than could have been achieved. I would have much preferred Cheyenne in a girl/girl scene with Dru or Logan (replacing scene 4) and if the final scene concentrated properly on her and Pat (maybe with Logan too).
