Pure Bliss Review

You've probably seen this movie before when it was called something else and when it starred other people. Remember that adult movie about the woman who entertained erotic fantasies and became attracted to a mysterious man who was not her husband? Did you see that movie? Well, here it is again, only this time it stars Temptress, Cheyenne Silver, and Anna Malle. Sure, the story is a cliche, but the girls sure look good occupying it.

Temptress (You don't suppose that's the name on her birth certificate do you?) is a writer with a somewhat happy sex life called on to compose a collection of erotic stories. Through the power of sexual fantasy, she begins to let her libido wander, even if it means she must let it explore outside the boundaries of her relationship with true love Devin Wolf. One could call her erotic stories "trite" and one would be right. Raven Touchstone--the real life writer behind all this-- puts together some wordy passages that sound as if they've been plagiarized from a pretentious high school girl's diary. Yet this is couple's porn fashioned after romance paperbacks, so you can forgive the earnestness. I'm not at all certain women will respond to Pure Bliss, but I long ago gave up trying to figure them out. Men will respond to the sex, and the movie has a lot of it, even if it's not the hedonistic hardcore variety we might normally prefer.

Temptress is a truly beautiful girl and this is her movie. We find her in three sex scenes, the first of which is with Devin Wolf, the aforementioned boy of her dreams. We know they're in love because they do it in a bed at night with elaborate lighting coming through the horizontal blinds. If they weren't in love, Temptress might be fucking him in a chair by an unobstructed window like she does with Jon Dough a little later. You know what? It really doesn't matter to me how she feels about either of them. I like to look at her naked, and maybe even try to imagine what it would feel like to be either one of these men. Clearly, her scene with Devin Wolf is intended to set a couple's mood, and though you couldn't describe her coupling with Dough as animalistic, it's definitely more adventurous. Either way, she'll get the job done.

Temptress engages in a three way, as well. This time with Dough and Anna Malle, who plays the part of Dough's overbearing wife. Have you ever seen Anna Malle play someone who was sweet and demure? That would be like casting Marlon Brando as a thin guy. This isn't the most intense Malle has ever been, but she's more energetic than most even when she's sleeping. And Temptress is, well, Temptress.

My intention here is not to give away too much of the story, but any thoughtful person can follow the sex scenes and determine the outcome of the plot. This isn't the Sixth Sense we're dealing with here, and it would be a mistake to go into Pure Bliss expecting something more than well shot sex. The story, in a word, is thin. Just like Baywatch will include several montages of people running and/or swimming to fill out an hour, Pure Bliss includes some stand alone scenes portraying Temptress' writing: Cheyenne Silver doing it in a hotel lobby, Cheyenne again in the back of a hay wagon with Monique DeMoan, and Anna Malle defrocking a monk who journeys way past temptation. Starring lesser women, these vignettes might not work, but given Cheyenne Silver's fresh coed looks and Anna Malle's dominating personality they're definitely worth watching, even if they are choreographed by the numbers.

Adam and Eve has a spotty past in the area of DVD. They're a well intentioned company I'm sure, and here they try to set their digital ship straight. I think they've succeeded. We could debate the quality of the movie's story telling and ask for a little more sexual heat, but objectively speaking, Pure Bliss is a professional presentation. The transfer is good and the sound is clear in most instances. Perhaps they took a little liberty with the term "Premium Collection" which runs across the top of the disc's packaging, but I have no outstanding complaints.
