Private Ninn 3: Your Time is Up Review

Help me out, will you? I’ve got this great idea for a porn film. See, this chick gets conked on the head and…and…what’s that? Then we string a bunch of sex scenes together? That’s brilliant. Don’t worry, I’ll share the story credit with you.

Porn really doesn’t need to contribute to its own stereotype, does it? Yet I think the conversation between Barry Wood and Sindee Coxx regarding the Private release “Your Time Is Up” must have gone substantially like this, except that their chick (played by Jenna Haze) doesn’t take a blow to her head, she takes a john to a motel room. Other than that, it’s identical, and the credits dutifully record Barry and Sindee’s cadaverously thin story collaboration.

My guess is that because they managed to work the title into the dialogue at the end of the movie, Barry and Sindee thought they had a story. They should have let Private in on it: the disc’s Production Notes carefully skirt the issue, suggesting instead that the film is “a sleek and sexy series of scenes”—which description, if we remove the conjunction, comes closer to the mark.

“Time” is the third Private film produced by Michael Ninn. This one is directed by co-writer Wood. It shares Ninn’s preoccupation with style, but its range is severely limited, even derivative. The monochromatic television screen, for example, that Ninn used so effectively in “Diva 4: Sexual Aria” is used repeatedly here, but to little effect: instead of snow or some ambient program, the screen depicts another angle on the ongoing action; the visual shift is less evocative than intrusive.

Regrettably the action is as redundant and poorly conceived as the visuals. The first scene sets the tone. Mystery man Marty Romano tosses Jenna onto a bed and haves at her with all the subtlety and excitement of a sexual metronome. Marty screws her doggie-style, on her back, in her ass on her back, and through it all there’s the pound-pound-pounding of his cock, never slowing and rarely missing a beat. It’s monotonous. Meanwhile, the music track chases its own four- or five-note tail and can’t seem to repeat its two syllable refrain often enough.

The film’s sexual choreography reaches its lowest ebb in the last scene, a three-girl two-guy fivesome. At first it’s just one of the girls who gets left out as the others pair off, but by the end of the scene, during a long double-penetration segment, two girls are left to their own devices--behind the dp and ignored by the camera.

It could have been worse. The film could have starred someone else. Jenna Haze has the ability to look very good indeed and here she’s often quite stunning. In fact, all of the girls are attractive. The sex might be three shades shy of electric blue, but at least the babes are an eyeful.

It’s not enough. It never is. I applaud Wood for approaching the film as something more than a straight fuckfest, but he should have put a few more tricks in his bag before tackling this project. For that matter, he should have taken a closer look at some of the better fuckfests in order to improve his bottom line.
