A quick note on scene ratings - unlike many reviewers of different things who tend to rate "average" as 7/10. I rate average as 5/10, this makes 7/10 from me quite a bit above average, so bear this in mind.

I'm really not familiar with Julie Silver's work, since I stopped constantly buying near everything Private put out a couple of years ago now, but she's an attractive blonde. There's a bunch of pictures of her on the cover if you're not sure what she looks like, but then again, it's a comp of her scenes, so there's a good chance that you already know what she looks like or you may just buy all the Private Life of... titles regardless, like I do. Sadly, Private seem to be really trying to push much more product out the door these days then when they started this series, as each disc only has 6 scenes on each, which is good compared to other companies' comps, but not compared to the standard they set early on, as the second disc would have 8, 10, 11, 12 scenes.. compared to 12 total for this edition.

Before each scene there's some segment of interview, but while some of it is kind of interesting, we've also heard it all before, and none of it really bears repeating.. It is kind of ironic how conservative many of the girls are in their private sex lives as opposed to their onscreen ones. it gets really trite by the time the interviewer is asking her if she really has orgasms in her films, as you can imagine.

One issue I have with this volume of Private Life Of.. as well as other recent volumes is that it seems that Private is so intent on pushing new product out the door as soon as possible they will release a Private Life of or Private Story of title as soon as a performer has appeared in 10-12 scenes for the company. In this volume's case, we see two scenes each taken from Theatre of Lust, Trust No One, Ocean Dream and Girls Night Out. So we're not really seeing a body of work so much as they've carved out 1/3 of each of those films and shoehorned them into this package, with a couple of single scenes, a vignette from XXX and an "exclusive scene" and called it a "Life of" when it's probably more like a "Month of". Since I have Theatre of Lust and Trust No One it means I already own 1/4 of the scenes. This also annoys me when it's done so quickly because you know if the performer is still active, they'll likely turn out quite a few more great scenes that will never be recorded on a comp like this, making the early ones in this series so much better, as they focussed on performers who had been around for a few years and established large bodies of work with Private.

Bitching aside, I'm not going to hold the fact that I'd never heard of Julie before I started watching this disc yesterday against her. While her interview was mostly trite and boring, she's certainly good looking enough (in most of these scenes, she is far better looking then she appears to be on the cover) and she really grew on me over the last couple of days. Value-wise, the fact is that you're getting 1/3 each out of 4 different DVDs here, so on sex alone you're already ahead, and then there's 4 more scenes on top of that. The Tom Herold ones and some of Susi Medusa's are a bit average, but as Stalin said, sometimes quantity has a quality all it's own and that holds true for this disc. It's weak compared to others in the Private Life of.. series, but compared to other single-star compilations put out by other companies, this leaves them for dead..
