Initial Expectations: Private has a longstanding reputations for quality. I’m expecting this one to compete very well or perhaps even top the other interactive titles out there.

Initial Reaction: Surprisingly, it’s not that impressive.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody expecting something to compete with the My Plaything and Virtual Sex with series.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video aren’t quite up to normal Private standards. The audio is very clear, but there are a few times you can hear directions being given. It happens a couple times during Sophie’s scene and many times during Lynn’s scene. The video is very good for two of the three independent angles, but the third angle is horrible. It’s fuzzy, slightly slowed, and doesn’t seem at all worth paying attention to. I think this is Private’s new Beer Goggle Vision, which if it’s to be at all successful should be preceded by at least a six pack.

False Advertising: The cover clearly shows both Sophie Evans and Lynn Stone in the missionary position, which was not offered on the DVD. The cover also claims you can watch the scenes from where you want to watch, yet they all appear to be shot from the same point.

Menus: The menus are pretty basic, but do the job.

The Feature: Private has finally made the jump into the interactive world. From the cover, it appears that Private Interactive is going to compete with lines such as VCA’s FantaSex, Digital Sin’s My Plaything, and Digital Playground’s Virtual Sex with. It’s a great idea, since Private has some of the best looking girls around and a reputation for high quality. Unlike most the other companies, who only give you one girl in a feature, Private has upped the stakes by including two virtual experiences, one with blonde Sophie Evans and one with brunette Lynn Stone. You can either play along, or have a random experience so you can keep both hands free for other things, such as filling out a crossword puzzle, or polishing nearby equipment. It’s a great idea, but unfortunately it doesn’t come out as well as one would expect.

You have the choice of four angles to watch the action in. The first angle is a distance shot. It’s a nice view as if you’re sitting in your chair watching the couple have sex. The next view is the new Beer Goggle Vision view, that I mentioned before. It’s an extremely blurry closeup that moves around. If you want blurry shots of the girls knees, stomach, and feet, this is the angle for you! The third angle is a clear close-up of the penetration. It’s a standard perspective and it’s done with decent lighting. Finally, you can watch all three at once. The close-up takes up most of the screen, with the distance shot and the Beergogs shot taking positions in the corner. To save on screen shots, I’ve normally captured this view since it can show all of the views.

The angles are nicely done, but one of the biggest drawbacks of the DVD. Interactive titles have almost all went in one direction, virtual sex. These are the DVDs you pick up to fantasize about what you see if you’re banging your favorite porn star. There isn’t a single angle like that on this DVD. Every angle is setup like you’re just sitting and watching a regular scene with a little more control. Yes, it does have interactive controls, but you’re so limited in view that it doesn’t matter much. As I said earlier, everything appears to be shot from the same point, so you never get anything close to a POV shot.

Sophie Evans gives you four choices after you go through her masturbation sequence (which you can’t return to). You can have her give a blowjob, reverse cowgirl, spoon anal, or doggie anal. The sequences last from about two and a quarter minutes up to four and a quarter minutes, and surprisingly every one contains it’s own real pop shot whenever you want it. As with most of the other interactive titles, when the loop runs out, it goes directly back to the start of the loop, which normally means you go from decent fucking to an insertion shot. Also, when the pop shot ends, so does the scene. Luckily the pop shot blends in quite well to the point that you probably won’t notice a difference. It’s a pretty average scene, with nothing too special to offer.

Lynn Stone also gives four choices after her masturbation scene. Unlike Sophie, Lynn doesn’t take a pop for the blowjob, but does take a real pop for each of the three positions. Lynn offers herself in reverse cowgirl for both vaginal and anal as well as doggie anal. Lynn’s sequences last a little longer, with most of them lasting between four and quarter and five and a half minutes, although the doggie anal only lasts about a minute and a quarter. Once again, when the loop runs out it’s back to the beginning, and when the pop is done, so are you. It’s a little better offering than Sophie’s, but only because the segments are a little longer.

Sadly, Private Interactive is fairly disappointing. The angles are very limited and the loops have the same problem of restarting that other companies are now starting to overcome. The controls also lack a bit since once the female masturbation sequence ends you can’t go back to it. In many ways it reminds me of early interactive titles such as Virtual Sex with Jenna, which at the time it came out was pretty amazing. Unfortunately, that was quite a while ago and the technology has moves far past it. Private Interactive is a decent start, but can use a lot more work.

Extras: Profiles of Sophie Evans and Lynn Stone are included that include a small bio, a listing of their Private credits, and a decent interview. Trailers are included for The Private Life of Bettina, Anal Furies, Superfuckers 11, Private Reality 4, and Triple X Files 9.

Overall: Currently, Private Interactive can be found online for between $20 and $35 with most stores offering it within a couple bucks of $23. Unless you’re a bug star of one of the girls here, I’d highly recommend renting this one first. It has some good technical aspects, but is pretty basic and primal for an interactive title.

Note to Private: You had some great ideas here, but if you bring out a second interactive title, please pay attention to what people like in your competitor’s products. Also, if you’re going to list a running length, please list a feature run time since the extras vary from DVD to DVD. It’s also an industry standard which lets the consumer make a better informed decision.
