The Movie |
Prison Heat is the newest all-girl feature movie from director Ricky Greenwood and his frequent writing collaborator Maddy Barton. In this venture, Ricky Greenwood takes on women in prison movies, although, happily, Prison Heat is a lot lighter than many of the women in prison movies of the 1970s.
In Prison Heat, Linda (Carter Cruise) gets 25-to-life for shooting her girlfriend's boss. Once in the county jail, she is befriended by her cellmate Hope and finds solace in writing. Unfortunately, she runs afoul of the warden Eleanor (Sinn Sage), who is called “The Witch” by inmates, and cellblock bully Elvira (Alison Rey).
The plot for Prison Heat seems lighter and more sparse than in past projects from Ricky Greenwood. The plot has a complete arc within the movie, and works for women in prison theme; however, there seems less of it than one has come to expect from a feature movie with Ricky Greenwood's name attached to it. The story is an overall upbeat one, which is a nice departure from how the movie could have gone (and how so many women in prison films have gone in the past).
The sex scenes, in contrast, are top-notch. Ricky Greenwood has cast some excellent actresses in the movie, and they all bring the heat to their scenes. Any disappointment the weaker plot may give viewers will be made up by the sex scenes in the movie, especially the sex scene between Carter Cruise and Alison Rey, which brings the movie to a high note.
As is standard with Ricky Greenwood's movies, Prison Heat looks absolutely beautiful. Ricky Greenwood makes great use of establishing shots to give the feeling that he is working with far more than he is with his sets, and it is very effective. The sets hare well done as well. The only disappointment on the production end is there is blurring on the DOC uniforms and the inmate clothing, which, sadly, sticks out like a sore thumb.
Prison Heat is a hard call. Overall, the movie is an enjoyable outing. Ricky Greenwood brings the viewer some excellent sex scenes, and the story isn't inadequate or flawed, it just could have been more complicated. Fans of Ricky Greenwood's movies will find enough to satisfy them in Prison Heat.
The Edition |
The edition of Prison Heat screened was a digital screener provided by Sweetheart Video; as a result, there may be discrepancies between the reviewed edition and the release edition(s).
Prison Heat was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 360p. This reviewer assumes that any official releases will be at a higher definition. The image quality looks good. The picture is as crisp as a 360p image can look and has excellent colors.
Prison Heat is presented with an English Stereo audio track. The sound quality is excellent. All of the dialog in the movie is clear and easy to understand at all times, and the movie sounds great.
Sweetheart Video didn't include any extras with their digital screener.
Final Thoughts |
Prison Heat is a women in prison all-girl adult film from Ricky Greenwood. As far as Ricky Greenwood's movies go, the plot in Prison Heat is a low point for him. The movie has a plot; it just feels weak. However, the sex scenes in the movie are intense and hot and well worth watching. And a low point in the plot for Ricky Greenwood is still a lot better than some directors are churning out. If you are a fan of Ricky Greenwood's movies, Prison Heat should satisfy you.
