Pound Cakes (Adam & Eve) Review

After so many solo-female and lesbian videos, it was almost a surprise to see naked guys again. Pound Cakes is a straight video--pretty vanilla by modern standards: one guy, one girl, no strap-ons, machines, or weirded out fantasy sequences. All the standard porn positions and setups, but only the basics. Not much breast-attention for big boob guys, only a little masturbation, no squirting, no anal. Surprising, since I think of "pound cakes" referring either to boobs or buttocks; and the girls on this DVD have both; yet it's not really a boob or an ass-worship video.

Five scenes, each one a little playlet to set up a situation, but it's only the barest setup for the sex. Personally I don't care much for the playlets because they're pointless and usually awful, though it's hard to tell whether people really can't act or the dialog would choke anyone; regardless, the playlets do keep the scenes from looking completely alike.

Scene 1: Sara Jay is pulled over by a cop, invites himself inside, fucking ensues. Sarah's a pretty blond with big, silicone breasts. The guy is a clean-cut, muscley dirty blonde.

Scene 2: Carmen Hayes is a pretty black girl with long, straight hair and big natural boobs, boffing a skinny guy with a caucasian afro and a huge dick. The setup has something to do with internet companies and money settlements and--well, I don't watch these things for story, sorry.

Scene 3: Mika is a very cute asian girl with long, black hair and glasses who plays a call-girl who shows up to service an average looking white guy with a goatee. This is the best kind of playlet for me since it's the least fake.

Scene 4: Brooke Haven is a blond latina with largish, fake boobs and a very pretty face who surprises her husband or boyfriend or whatever he is by being the model girl.

Scene 5: Isabella is a Jennifer Aniston-type who watches a guy working on her house ouside, gets all hot and bothered and decides to take care of herself with the bright red vibrator she keeps tucked behind a pillow on the sofa (where everyone keeps their dildo/vibes). Worker walks in and catches her, joins in.

Overall it's a pretty good title. The girls aren't shockingly beautiful but they tend to better-than-average. The music is the standard modern annoying electro-ambient stuff, but it's background enough not to be too painful. Lighting and camera work is good, and the sets and sound set these things apart from the low-budget and amateur stuff. I like the amateur "we don't do this for a living, we're doing this for fun" stuff, but a slickly, professionally produced video has its merits.

Since this is an Adam & Eve production they added a few other things: a photo gallery, a "bonus scene" of a guy and a girl boffing in a kitchen: happily there's no story here, just sex. Plus trailers for other titles and a "behind the scenes" compilation of outtakes. I find the outtakes surprisingly amusing, simply because it adds a little reality to an otherwise extremely unreal situation.

Good DVD, not great. I recommend it if you're a fan of a particular performer, but I don't think it's particularly good on its own.
