Porn Fiction, formerly called Pulp Fiction XXX, is a hodgepodge of Quentin Tarantino aspects thrown together willy-nilly to ultimately create an incohesive mess. While at first, the viewer assumes that, like in Pulp Fiction, eventually all the meandering that is taking place will all come together to make sense. The further the viewer gets into the movie, as characters from other Quentin Tarantino directed and written films start showing up, the viewer realizes that nothing here will ever make sense. In addition to the characters that appear from Pulp Fiction, characters also appear from Kill Bill, True Romance, and Jackie Brown.

To make matters worse, the dialog that is in the movie is often ripped straight out of the Quentin Tarantino films, often word for word. Occasionally the dialog isn't exactly word for word, however, in these instances the only changes are to swap out offensive words for non-offensive words.

Then to add onto the issue, the movie has some absolutely horrific green screen work, starting with the first scene when Honey Bunny and Pumpkin (Elaina Raye and Tarantino XXX respectively) are in the diner and they and the table they are sitting at is floating and sailing around in the air. Why green screen was used for this effect, this reviewer has no idea. The scene could have easily been shot at a house and wouldn't have had the horrible look. The scene with The Bride (Mona Wales) also utilizes horrible green screen work. In addition, The Bride is splattered with blood, which just results in a giant 'what the fuck' moment.

Porn Fiction appears to have been shot with only one camera, which leads to additional issues since there are some serious issues with the sound recording when the camera is being moved. In addition, Jules (Chris Cock) has some major issues with his wig. There are line flubs that are kept in along with some poor editing choices.

The sex scenes are okay, some are far better than others. For instance, the scene with Mrs. Wallace (Shay Fox) and Jimmy (Tarantino XXX) isn't bad. The scene with The Bride is not so good. The big issue is getting through the rest of the movie to get to them. The sex scenes themselves could have used some tighter editing, but that is probably the least of the problems that the movie has.

Overall, it would have been nice if Tarantino XXX had injected some originality into this movie. The mashups of various Quentin Tarantino characters and dialog ripped directly from Quentin Tarantino's films just seems tired and uninspired presented as it is here. None of the material ever comes together cohesively and poor technical details further hurt the presentation. As a result, it is hard to recommend Porn Fiction to anyone.

The edition of Porn Fiction screened is the streaming version of the final cut version available on TarantinoXXX.com. The final cut version is different than the original version, which was titled Pulp Fiction XXX, that ran for 123 minutes. The scenes with Tori Avano and Leo Supernova, Sally Sparrow and Marc Vicious, and Kenzie Karter and Logan Pierce have all been cut from this version. The scene with Tori Avano and Leo Supernova is now in Grindhouse XXX 2 in the “Fuck Proof” segment.

Porn Fiction is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and is available in 720p, 480p, and 240p. Porn Fiction appears to have been shot digitally. There were no noticeable issues with the video presentation at all. There is a bug consisting of a yellow box with Tarantino XXX and the A Porn Apart logo in it in the lower right-hand corner.

Porn Fiction is presented with an English 2.0 Stereo audio track. The audio isn't bad. There is a hiss in the audio along with some muffling at times. The volume doesn't stay constant as well. The dialog can be understood throughout the movie although there are times that it can be hard to hear.

Tarantino XXX has included a few extras for their streaming only release of Porn Fiction. There is a three-minute Shay Fox interview with Adam Christopher and Shay Fox. There is also a six-minute outtakes and bloopers reel. It would have been nice if Tarantino XXX had included all of the deleted material from the movie as an extra along with information on where it was originally in the movie and why it was removed.

Porn Fiction, formerly titled Pulp Fiction XXX, is a jumble of sex scenes based on the Quentin Tarantino universe, not just Pulp Fiction, and non-sexual scenes that are ripped straight out of Tarantino's films usually line-for-line. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and given Tarantino XXX's current adult nom de plum, this reviewer does believe that Porn Fiction was made out of flattery and not just to rip-off the work of Quentin Tarantino. However, in the end, Porn Fiction ends up looking and feeling like a cheaply done pilfer of Tarantino's volume of work that never has a sense of cohesion. Tarantino XXX has provided good quality video for their release of Porn Fiction but the audio has some issues.
