Initial Expectations: Anarchy has had such a long running stream of lies on their interactive DVDs that I go into every one of their DVDs extremely skeptical.

Initial Reaction: I didn’t expect a lot here, and Anarchy didn’t even meet those expectations.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. You can hear Lucy very well in the audio, but you can also hear a lot of background noises and what I’d think was wind if it wasn’t shot inside. You even get to hear her get a direction or two from behind the camera. The video is pretty well done. It’s nicely lit and barely shows any grain. This is a nice looking release.

Bullshit, Boneheaded, and Borderline Advertising: With all the surprise of getting a shock when pissing on an electric fence, Anarchy continues its string of bullshit, boneheaded, and borderline advertising that always ends up with them being penalized in the overall score. Here, they’re penalized a half point, which is nothing new. The front cover lists Multi-Angle, Extremely Interactive, Strip Tease, Foot Job, Multiple Toys, Tease Menu, Shot Exclusively for DVD, Point of View (P.O.V.), and Different Sex Positions. To start with, not all of these are bullshit, boneheaded, or borderline. There is a foot job. The first completely bullshit claim is the Multi-Angle claim, which I think everybody who’s watched a virtual Anarchy disc has come to expect. Even when the multi-angle is displayed by one of the choices, you can’t use the multiple angle feature on the DVD player to see it. It’s no big deal, since for example in the masturbation segment, if you don’t choose it the multiple angle the scene just advances through the close-up angle when the current chapter ends. There also isn’t a strip tease (Lucy just takes off the couple things she’s wearing without any tease) and Lucy only used one sex toy that I saw through the movie.

For the borderline side of things is the Extremely Interactive option, since there’s fewer interactive choices here than most anywhere else. You don’t get to choose between moods for Lucy, camera angles, or anything else special to tailor the scene to your tastes. There’s also kind of a tease menu, which doesn’t really make sense to advertise on the cover as that’s kind of the point of an interactive DVD is letting you have menus to make your choices. More than anything, it’s a masturbation menu as Lucy never spends any time teasing you with one part of her body or another. Finally, there’s the POV claim. Yes, there’s a fair amount of the movie that’s shot POV, but once you get into the virtual sex part rather than just watching Lucy take care of herself, I think the vast minority of the footage is shot from the POV perspective.

On the boneheaded side of things are the claims of Different Sex Positions and Shot Exclusively for DVD. I have yet to see anybody release an interactive title with only one position, and the positions used here are no different than anywhere else. I also don’t know of anybody who’s released an interactive VHS tape or how it would work. Do they come with a sheet that tells you where to fast forward to on the tape to see what you want to?

Menus: The menus are extremely basic. The main menu is basically just a shot of the cover that lets you choose between foreplay, sex, and extras. It’s not very impressive.

The Feature

In the last year or so, Lucy Lee has exploded on the porn scene as one of the top Oriental girls out there. Her sense of humor, enthusiastic sex scenes, and willingness to do darn near anything has gained her a good following, and her nicely natural body and pretty face hasn’t hurt it either. Here she embarks on her first virtual sex adventure with almost all of it appearing in a typical bedroom.

After watching a few of Lucy’s scenes, I’ve come to look forward to watching her work. Sadly, this is the worst I’ve seen her do. She often looks like she’s there just for the check and I rarely got a feeling of chemistry between her and her partner. She looks like she’s having more fun in her interview in the extras than she does through the entire “virtual sex” portion of the DVD. I think some of this is due to the camera angles. Through most of the sex there are three if not four cameras capturing the action. Lucy looks like she’s trying to give each camera some of the attention, and because of it ends up looking most everywhere except at her partner. She gets into things about the time the action moves into the anal arena, but by that time my cock had all but fallen asleep. This is easily the worst sexual performance I’ve seen on any of Anarchy’s virtual DVDs.

Anarchy did do one thing okay for the sex part of the DVD, and that’s the pop shot. It’s a real pop shot and Lucy takes it as a good facial. Unfortunately, although there’s a blowjob, a footjob, and five sexual positions (even though you only have choices of four), the only pop is done from a missionary position so you get to jump from where ever you were watching to missionary for the pop shot. This could have been better handled if you never even saw them fucking or sucking and just went to a cock spewing guy goo onto Lucy’s face. I’m not really sure if this is better than a multitude of faked pop shots or not.

As usual, the virtual technology leaves plenty to be desired and doesn’t even get up to an average level. To start with, there’s the menus, which rest nicely in the upper left corner. They change color to be a little more visible, but the font used is a bit hard to read at times. They’re also big enough that they sometimes cover up things like, say, Lucy’s face. Oddly, the menus change repeatedly throughout the movie. I think I counted seven different menus, and some of them just don’t make a lot of sense. The first couple chapters use a menu that basically lets you choose which major section you want to go to. From there, it goes to a masturbation menu which could have been combined with the first menu by adding two more choices. By adding one more choice, it could have eliminated a menu that was there just for the blowjob to allow you to choose between standard, POV, and what angle you wanted to view it from (more about that later). When you get to the fucking, each position (missionary, reverse cowgirl, cowgirl, and anal) has three or four camera angles, and the menu changes each time to let you see the options for only the position you’re watching rather than doing one menu that would show it all and which wouldn’t really take up any more space. If that isn’t enough, there’s both missionary and doggie anal, but you only have options to watch the missionary. The doggie comes as an unseen bonus! The menus are okay, but don’t seem the best thought out.

Finally, there’s the overall “virtual” / “interactive” aspect of the DVD. To me, this barely qualifies as a virtual sex DVD. When I think of virtual sex DVDs, I think of lines like Digital Sin’s My Plaything, Digital Playground’s Virtual Sex with... and VCA’s FantaSex. They take things from the perspective that it’s you fucking the girl, which this one normally avoids. They also work with loops so that you have to “tell” the girl what to do. Here, the menu is just a glorified chapter menu that appears so that you can change things while the movie runs. It has many of the same choices you can make, but the presentation is completely different and extremely primitive and that makes all the difference. Then there’s the “multiple angles” aspect. Nine of the selections in the movie were recorded from different angles, and you get to see them. With the way the DVD is set up they’re not presented using the multiple angle feature of DVDs. Instead they’re just shown one after another in the movie. If that’s right, then every movie out there which shoots using more than one camera could claim to be a multiple angle movie. Although you can interact with it, I have a very hard time thinking of Playing with Lucy Lee as an interactive virtual sex experience.

Playing with Lucy Lee is a big disappointment. Anarchy has more than earned a scornful eye due to their outright lies about their products in the past, and its no different here. Normally I could enjoy the sex, however, even though the virtual sex aspects were very primitive. Here, the virtual sex technology is primitive and the sex is boring. The multi-angle thing is a joke, and if you take it away I don’t think the entire feature would last twenty five minutes. I’ve had farts that have cleared out rooms longer than this turd lasts! Even if you’re a fan of Lucy Lee you might be better off skipping Playing with Lucy Lee.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Shooters, Narcassist, Blasted, Anal Life, and Johnny’s Vision. The photo gallery includes about twenty five very nice looking full screen photos that you can advance through at your own pace or will advance on their own every ten seconds. There’s also an interview with Lucy and weblinks.

The interview lasts about five minutes. She talks about the movie, her first anal experience, her tattoo, and taking advantage of men in her personal life. It’s a great interview that’s a lot of fun despite a subject that turns a lot of guys into Olympic class sprinters. There’s a couple problems with the audio balance, but other than that it’s a very nicely done interview that’s well worth checking out.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Anarcy’s interactive DVDs can be found online for between about $10 and $25 with stores offering them everywhere in between. If somebody else rents it for you, consider spending your own money on something else. The virtual aspect is poorly done and the sex barely even gave me wood. The technical aspects leave a bit to be desired due to the audio, and although there’s a little effort put into the extras, it isn’t much. This DVD would make a nice coaster.
