NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good for an amateur feature, and are the best I’ve seen from Pixie’s Emporium so far. The audio is clear but the balance varies a bit throughout the movie. There’s also a few background noises which are fairly minor. The video is pretty good. It’s clear, but the lighting goes a bit overboard at some points causing the colors to get bleached out. There’s also a few minor remnants which pop up here and there.

Music: There’s a little bit of Peter Cotton Tail as the movie opens and between scenes, but that’s the extent of the music.

Menus: The menus are simple, but show care. The main menu doesn’t have any animation, but is fun and gives a pretty good first impression. The chapter menu also shows some care, and lets you choose a scene based on a still from each scene and the name of the lovely lady in it.

The Feature

After Mandi plays around in a little pink lingerie and a pair of bunny ears, things get right down to the contest. You get to see the panel of judges, but that’s it before things get under way. What’s the prize? Who cares, it’s the viewer who wins with this competition.

Scene 1 - Heidi and a guy

Heidi, a cute brunette, lays back in a chair wearing a white skirt, flowery bikini top, and a headband before her guy, who I’ll call Lyle Jr. as he looks like he takes hair styling tips from Lyle Lovett, comes in to kiss her. They help each other strip down and kiss each other’s nipples before Lyle Jr. helps Heidi out of her skirt so that he can play with her pussy. He gives her a bit of a massage after breaking out a bottle of baby oil without eating her pussy before she drops down to mouth his uncircumcised cock. That’s not common in amateur porn, and although it takes him a while to get there, he more than makes up for the wait.

Scene 2 - Haley and a guy

Haley, a nice looking blonde, starts things out on a bed playing around with a plug-in toy. After she plays for a few moments, her boyfriend joins her and slides it right in as they lay on their sides. This is a pretty good scene that feels like it had plenty to go. There’s not a pop, and it feels like Haley and her boyfriend still had plenty of fucking to go. That’s the biggest problem here, but it also suffered a bit from being shot 100% from a tripod with nobody behind it. These two things hold the scene back so that it doesn’t quite make it to an average scene when it would have easily been an excellent scene if it had finished decently.

Scene 3 - Mandi

Mandi starts out the final scene examining her Easter basket to find that somebody stole all her candy. She finally finds a couple carrots and a couple vibrators, which she seems to like as much as the thought of candy. There’s even a littler present from the Easter Bunny that Mandi says right away is going to have to wait. She sucks on the vibe and rubs her pussy playfully before bringing in a couple of her large stuffed animals to play with her. She goes back to working herself over with the pair of toys while rolling around to several positions on the bed.

Once again, Mandi delivers a very nice scene. As always she’s cute as can be and looks like she’s having just as much fun teasing as getting a little action. She never seems like she’s faking anything, and the camera mixes things up nicely between close-ups and distance shots.

Platinum Bunny Contest is a great example of amateur porn, both good and bad. First, the bad, mostly because there isn’t much of it here. Most of the bad of amateur porn is shown perfectly in the second scene. It’s dark and the entire thing looks like it was shot from a tripod the couple set up. This has its own charm, but it’s limited enough that it rarely works for me. There’s also a few minor problems with the technical aspects, but even those are pretty minor here. Just as bad here, and this is for this scene rather than amateur porn in general, is the length of the scene. The second scene is the biggest problem in the movie, and if it would have kept up like it started I could see giving both the sexual rating and the overall rating at least a half point and probably a full point. Then there’s the good, and it greatly outweighs the bad. The good is the spirit of the feature. In both Mandi’s scene and Heidi’s scene you can tell that they’re all real people who love what they’re doing. Yeah, you can see that Lyle Jr. is nervous in the first scene, but he’s not a professional. He’s a real guy who’s getting to make out with a hot chick while somebody else shines a bunch of hot lights on him, which most guys aren’t used to! You see his reactions, and Lyle Jr. and the girls look like they’re having fun. I never felt they were faking it and had a smile on my face through most of their scenes. Of course Mandi raises things up an extra notch between scenes, and helps to give the feature an extra spark and fun feeling. Platinum Bunny Contest is a nice and fun piece of amateur smut that’s worth checking out.

Currently, many DVDs from Pixie’s Emporium can be found online for around $13. At this price I’d recommend this one. No, there aren’t any extras but the sex is great and the technical aspects are well done. This is a fun little Easter porno.

Note to Pixie’s Emporium: You’ve done a nice job here, and it’s great to see you improving over time. A few more chapter breaks would be nice, especially with scenes like the first one when they run so long and have some easy places to break things up. Something for extras would also be nice.
