Initial Expectations: Nicholas Steele has been kind of hit or miss for me, but with this cast I can’t help but have high expectations.

Initial Reaction: It’s pretty, but rarely goes overboard on heat.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is a bit of a mixed bag. When there’s dialogue it’s very clear and well balanced. During the sex, however, some artistic effects are added, which makes the voices of the performers drop a notch. The video was shot in the high definition widescreen format, and adds quite a bit to the movie. It has a slight bit of grain, and does a very good job of imitating film. This adds an artistic feel to the movie that really works, as the movie itself is supposed to be about art. The lighting varies throughout the movie, but I can’t help but think that it’s intentional. There aren’t a lot of shadows, and they do occasionally interfere with things, but more often than not they help the artistic feel of the scenes.

Music: As with so many of Nicholas Steele’s movies, Saint provides the music. I personally think Saint is one of the best composers of music for adult films around, and this might be one of his best jobs. Saint’s music normally has a very pleasing new age feel to it, but he adds a bit more variety to it this time around. It’s a little louder than I normally like for music in adult movies, but I like the music enough that it didn’t bother me as much as normal.

Menus: The main menu is pretty simple, but does have a little animation. The chapter menu is pretty standard and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and a scene number.

The Feature: Julian is well known for his work, the Pin-Ups calendar. Each calendar features some of the most gorgeous girls around, and causes most everybody who looks at them to fantasize about the women. Pin-Ups collects those fantasies as he talks about his work.

Ian Daniels and Evan Stone start things out with Nyomi Arman. They’re cooks at a fifties style malt shop, where Nyomi walks in dressed in yellow vinyl fuck-me boots and a yellow raincoat, with only a black bra and panties on underneath. Ian makes the first move, with Evan coming up to join in soon afterwards. Nyomi becomes the meat in the guys’ sandwich as they warm each other up before Ian starts boning her from behind. Nyomi lets Evan get his action reverse cowgirl style as well as letting him fuck her in an almost sitting missionary. Finally, she takes both guys on her nicely natural tits.

This was a very bland scene. It felt like it was trying to capture the beauty of the girlie calendars, which is a good thing, but focused overly much on close-ups. It was also held back by a major lack of chemistry. The entire scene felt held back, and the tease leading up to the scene was hotter than the scene itself.

Jodie Moore and Nina Ferrari, who has some of the hottest shoes I’ve seen in a porno in a long time, take each other on in the second scene. They grope and kiss each other as they help each other out of their clothes by a stairway landing railing. Jodie makes the first move to work over Nina, and works Nina’s pierced pussy over nice and slow with her tongue and then a vibe after stripping her down. Nina returns the favor on Jodie’s bald beaver before they end things with a kiss.

This scene left me hot and cold. Nina’s pretty hot here, while Jodie is borderline cold. Nina is easily the highlight of the scene, and gets into things very well. She looks to enjoy receiving, and adds a little playfulness to giving. Jodie, on the other hand, made me think that there was a timer going during the scene. Her orgasm looked faked, and while Nina looked like she wanted to keep going, Jodie appeared to think that when she said actual words that meant the scene was to be over. It’s a pretty hot scene up until the end, but Jodie’s reaction really left me cold.

Cop Rafe gets it on with Sunrise Adams in the third scene. She helps him out of his uniform before dropping down to her knees and worshiping his manhood orally. Rafe licks Sunrise’ bald beaver in return before turning her around and slipping it in from behind as she braces herself against the inside of a phone booth. They move to a park bench to keep things going reverse cowgirl style before Sunrise drops to take Rafe’s ball butter in her waiting mouth with her eyes wide open and yearning for it. She even sucks out the last few drops, plays with it a little, and examines Rafe’s cock to make sure she gets every last drop.

For the most part, this is a soft feeling scene, but nicely done. Sunrise and Rafe have nice chemistry together, and pick things up as the scene goes along. It also shows how much a great pop shot can help a scene. I was fairly ambivalent about the scene by the time it got to the park bench, and started liking it a bit more seeing the energy Sunrise put into riding Rafe. The lust she went after his come with, however, was excellent, and one of the best moments in the entire movie.

Next up, Jodie Moore returns to take on Julian in his bathtub. She climbs into the tub and slowly sucks Julian’s cock as he sits on the edge of the tub. Julian returns Jodie’s oral affections before giving it to her from behind. Jodie also rides Julian reverse cowgirl style before taking a nice facial.

This scene didn’t impress me too much. Jodie seemed relatively cold through much fo the scene, as if she thought that arching her back and moaning. It’s better than many of Jodie’s other scenes I’ve watched, as every very now and then she seems to get into it, but more often than not she just seems to kind of be there. The best thing about this scene is the positions, which let the camera avoid Julian’s hideous stomach tattoo. It borders on being an above average scene, but doesn’t get much beyond that.

Jenna Haze and Billy Glide are next. After a quick grope Jenna drops down in the darkness to suck Billy’s club and then goes directly to laying back on a bench so Billy can bone her. They continue to work through a few of the common positions before Jenna takes a nice pop in the mouth and swallows a bunch down.

This one did next to nothing for me. The lighting was even lower than normal, so that I could barely see anything through most of the scene, and the camera focused on something other than what I wanted to see for roughly ninety percent of the scene. I didn’t think I’d ever say this about one of Jenna Haze’s early scenes, but one viewing was more than enough.

Finally, Desert Rose and Kristina Black get it on with Julian during one of their photo shoots. They let the oral love flow all around them before Julian slides it into Desert from behind while she eats Kristina. Kristina moves up to ride him reverse cowgirl style while Desert plays with her clit before the girls share Julian’s joy juice between their tits.

This is another scene that did next to nothing for me. It started out very good during the oral warmups, and had some very nice chemistry there. Once it got to the fucking, I thought it took a serious nosedive. Julian looked just a little less with it than a deer caught in the headlights, which really brought the scene down to me. I know I shouldn’t be noticing him that much, but there’s so many distance shots in this scene that it was impossible for me not to.

Pin-Up Girls is mostly fluff, but sadly doesn’t do fluff quite right. The scenes are almost all beautifully shot, but they normally lack heat. There isn’t a single scene that really blew me away, with the heat and enjoyment of the scenes being very spotty. Sunrise Adams’ facial with Rafe is probably the hottest part of the entire movie, and Jodie Moore’s taking on Nina Ferrari being the worst. That isn’t to say that Pin-Up Girls is a horrible movie. It’s just a little too pretty. Almost every scene in the movie is beautifully shot, and the entire movie nicely maintains the feel of the pin-up girl calenders that have hung near almost every man’s toolbox for the last fifty years. I really like the idea, as well as the direction, it’s just the casting didn’t seem quite right. Pin-Up Girls leaves a bit to be desired, but is definitely pretty.

Each bio includes a little personal information and a photo. The photo gallery lasts about two and a half minutes with about seven seconds per nice looking snapshot. There’s also web links, three bonus scenes, and a behind the scenes featurette.

The first bonus scene stars Felecia and Isabelle Camille and comes from Design for Desire. Felecia and Isabella start things off with some decent kissing before Isabella drops down to warm up Felecia’s strap on orally. Surprisingly, she doesn’t get it as soon as she’s finished, as Felecia drops down to warm up Isabella’s pussy orally a bit before starting it in her from behind. Felecia gets her turn as she rides it reverse cowgirl. It slowly comes to a fairly abrupt end as the girls almost think about kissing a little, but that’s about as close as it gets to a firm ending. It’s an okay at best scene, but has an annoying streak across the bottom of the screen that’s extremely noticeable. It also concentrates way too much on the close-up of the penetration. I don’t think I ever saw Isabella’s face as Felecia was fucking her, and you rarely saw either girls’ face as she was being fucked.

The second scene comes from Forbidden Lust and stars Alexandra Silk as she teaches Mariesa, Joey Ray, Mia Smiles, Chris Cannon, Evan Stone, and Summer Storm about masturbation. Alexandra guides the couples, having them start out gently caressing each other using both their hands and mouths. After the couples get a good start she walks around with a box full of toys and allows them to pick out something special to continue working on each other with. Most everybody seems to take things nice and slow, but Evan and Summer quickly build up momentum and get a little vocal as well. The scene ends fairly abruptly, and doesn’t seem done since there’s three guys and not a single drop of guy goo flying around. It also moves around between the couples and Alexandra moving around the room that it never really feels like anything more than a tease.

The final bonus scene has Kylie Ireland and Ian Daniels spending some quality time together in a scene from Once a Year. Ian starts off driving his tongue into and around Kylie’s pussy as she lays back on a the kitchen counter. She doesn’t give him any warmup, but goes directly from having her pussy licked to wrapping it around Ian’s cock. You get to see plenty of what goes on behind the scenes of the movie, as well as getting many interviews with the stars. It’s an okay behind the scenes featurette, but it seems a little lost at times. The highlight is probably a tender moment between Nicholas Steele and his wife on their anniversary.

Overall: Currently, most of Adam & Eve’s Premium Collection DVDs can be found online for between $13 and $22, with many stores offering them for around $18. Rent this one before you shell out the big bucks for it, as you’re either going to really like it or really not. The sex is pretty, but not exactly hot. The technical aspects vary a little, but there’s some nice extras.
